The Senior Special Assistant to
President Muhammadu Buhari on
Diaspora Affairs, Abike Dabiri-
Erewa, has disclosed that ailing
President, Buhari has mandated
his team on diaspora affairs to
ensure that all Nigerian girls
trafficked for sex overseas are
brought back to the country.
She stated this while commenting
on the issue of human trafficking
during a programme on AIT.
Dabiri-Erewa said that no fewer
than 41 girls ranging between 16
– 28 years have voluntarily
returned to Nigeria from Mali as a
result of collaboration between
the Nigerian Embassy and the
Malian authorities anchored on
mutual agreement.
She called for the education of
children against embarking on
trips to places they are not
familiar with; stressing that girls
who are trafficked for sex
believed that they were going
overseas to engage in white-collar
jobs.
She said: “Now on the issue of
human trafficking, 41 girls have
voluntarily returned to Nigeria
from Mali.
“President Buhari has charged us
to bring back all these girls
trafficked for sex.
“The Nigerian Embassy in Bamako
leveraged on the NAF Charlie-130
Hercules aircraft to airlift these
girls that were victims of human
trafficking.
“The successful repatriation of the
girls was as a result of
collaboration between the
Nigerian Embassy and the Malian
authorities anchored on mutual
agreement.
“We need to educate our children
especially the ladies not to go to
where they don’t know.”

Some aides to President
Muhammadu Buhari have
renewed attempts to return him to
the seat of power in Abuja before
the possibly eight-week closure of
the Nnamdi Azikiwe International
Airport in the Federal Capital
Territory Abuja, Sahara Reporters
learnt.
The airport is scheduled to be shut
down for at least six weeks
starting from midnight on March
7, 2017.

Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, has called on Nigerians to stop finger-pointing and look for solutions to corruption in the economy. He spoke at the National Dialogue on Corruption with the theme: “The Limitless Ramifications of Corruption”, at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa on Thursday. According to him, corruption is systematic in Nigeria. “There’s no question at all, and it affects all segments of the society. It affects the religious, it affects agencies and civil society groups. There’s no one in our nation that can say he/she is not in one way or the other, not necessarily being complicit! but at least under some influence of or some of the implications of corruption. “So, I think we should leave the finger-pointing because the finger- pointing is unhelpful. What’s important is that we recognise that there’s a major problem ?here. “What I’d like us to do, if possible, in the course of this dialogue, is to look at ?models that have worked elsewhere and see whether they are somewhat applicable here. “The truth of the matter is that there is nothing peculiar about the Nigerian citizen or the Nigerian type. Reconciliation
of the PDP headed by His Excellency
Governor Henry Seriake Dickson, at
its
meeting held on the 2nd of March
2017 in
Abuja, reviewed recent
developments in
the party and decided as follows:
1. That a political solution is the
best
option for the protracted crises in
the
party.
2. Endorses the resolution of the
meeting
between the former President of
Nigeria,
Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan GCFR
and
PDP State Governors in this regard
without prejudice to the ongoing
judicial
processes.
3. That as part of this process, it is
imperative that an early convention
within
the second quarter of 2017 should be
held in Abuja which therefore
should be
all inclusive and where new national
officials of the party will be freely,
fairly
and transparently elected.
4. In furtherance of this, the
reconciliation
committee shall embark on
extensive
consultations with all stakeholders
with a
view of building confidence and
necessary consensus toward the
Unity
Convention
5.The committee appeals to all party
leaders, and members of our great
party
to exercise restraint and focus on
the
loyalty to and the overall interest of
the
party.

At least six officers of the Nigerian Peace
Corps were seriously injured, with three
lying unconscious at the National Hospital,
Abuja, after men of the Nigerian Police
and the Department of State Service (DSS)
raided the National Headquarters of the
Peace Corps, Jabi on Tuesday.
The National Commandant of the
Corps, Amb. Dickson Akoh and 45
other officers were taken into
custody.

in coma at the hospital.
According to Prince Yemi Itodo,
Nigerian security repeatedly hit
him on the head with gun.

scatter his head. Another lady,
who just recovered from medical
surgery was also wounded and in
comma at the same hospital. All
