Please how much does the in-dash DVD go for? Thanks. |
Hi All, I have a similar issue like that of the Op but mine is kinda in the other direction. When I start up in the morning,it revs up to 2000rpm but goes down back to below 1000rpm while still idling. However when I am moving and even up to speeds of 100km/hr, the rpm never goes above 2000rpm, it just stays there. I also noticed the car is a bit lazy in picking up speed ,it just takes its time picking up to high speeds. I have a personal diagnostic tool but there is no DTC shown. Anyone know what could be the problem here? Thanks. |
How much? |

Hello all Thanks to those that made comments.it is well appreciated. Just thought to update this post with some answers we obtained so far. Based on what we read, we observed that the 4runner 's key indeed required programming to get a new one. We did some reading on some toyota forums on how they dealt with this issue, i.e getting a new programmed key and it came out surprisingly that we actually can programme a key cut by the local locksmith ourselves. This would involve some kinda weired process of inserting the original keys into the ignition 5 times, opening the driver's side door about 6 times before inserting a new cut key.....(summarised) Has anybody had any experience doing this? Kindly share your knowledge. Also for the new cut key, must it be a blank key with a programmable chip, or any key can be used for this process. Thanks |
The car in question is a 2004 Toyota 4runner, V6, 4.0L. Thanks |
Hello all, I have initially done a search for topics relating to the above subject but did not get so much, leading to creating this topic. A friend just got a car which came with just one key. Looking closely to that key, it just looks like any other car key without any logo, sign, buttons or special effects, just a bland simple key. We just thought we would take a walk to the key cutters and make a new one. Before we did this, we had a chat with a local rewire who said we shouldn't try this that the key is coded and if we cut just any key and insert into the ignition, the whole vehicle system might pay dearly for that. I got confused because my understanding of when a car key is coded was different. My questions to my forum members are as follows: How do we know if a car key is coded? What are the implications if an uncoded key is used in the ignition of a car whose key should have been coded? Are there particular kind of cars whose keys are always coded? What are possible solutions if any problems arise in using your coded keys for your car? Any suggestions as to where duplicate car keys can be done safely and securely within Lagos. Thanks |

Hi , The Acura RL is a wonderful car, very stable and reliable. It is a luxury version of an honda. It uses parts similar to the honda, thus you can be assured that the parts are available. In terms of maintenance, the owner should be comfortable enough to do the regular maintenance as at when due and ensure any strange sounds are investigated asap, however, it is important to mention that its parts would be a little expensive than the honda due to its luxury nature but not so much as to tear your pocket, just ok. In terms of durability, this applies to all cars, if you treat a car rite, it stays old with you, with regular check-ups and good maintenance, it would definitely last. However , the fuel usage/economy , I must say would likely be more than an average V6 as it also has a 3.5 litre engine and is heavy by all standards but gives you the required stability and power on the move. I used to drive the Acura 3.2tl and enjoyed every bit of it , I only sold it cos i wanted to drive something different and my friend who I sold it to is still enjoying it till today. Enjoy |

Would do just that! I would however be glad to hear comments from those that have actually experienced similar situations. Thanks. |
@ Lexusgs430 and @ Siena , I appreciate your comments so much. @Siena, what you just described as slow timing seems to fit into my situation. Also , if i should get the pressure and crack test right , it is done to ensure the Cylinder head is perfectly flat before the new gasket is mounted, yes this was done by the mechanic because we discussed this and he actually went to do it . Somebody had actually mentioned the timing to me and as i am getting to hear it from you again, it has reimforced the need to check the timing one more time. Once again, i appreciate your comments. Thanks |
Hello NL and Car gurus, kindly help with this issue on my car. I drive a Camry 2002/2003 and i recently changed its top gasket due to an unfortunate incident that caused overheating on the car. I also had to change two the Plugheads (which comes with its own coil). I however noticed after this, that when i am driving and i come to a place where i need to slow down, it slows down but does not accelerate again immediately, it drags continuously and just gradually picks it momentum again, but this situation continues every time i slow down. I know my mechanic would just want to do some trial and error but i want to see if i can get some knowledge from those that have experienced it or the Car gurus. Please help!!! |
