Dreezyman: Good Morning guys...I have been able to pick a date since December so I want to defer the admission till next session because the school will be resuming Jaunary 22 and I was able to date for April
Can I cancel the appointment and create a new DS160 with the new i20 and book another appointment Please don't cancel your appointment, present your new i20, if your application is successful, you won't be able to go to the US until it's a month to your resumption, so there's no cause for alarm. Just explain your situation to the Interviewer. |

deji42: Hi everyone, my interview is coming up next week, and I just noticed we are to bring a passport that is valid for at least six months beyond our intended period of stay—but my passport expires in December next year.
Am I going to run into any trouble? My interview was in November, my passport expires in July. I am not even going to renew it till say March in the US. Don't disturb yourself. |

Showkey1313: I hope everyone is having a good day? Please I want to upload my mock transcript here so you people can help me cross check because next week is my next interview and I want to be sure I’m fully ready with you guys support ..
VO: Good morning , pass me your 1.20 and your passport Me: Here it is ma.
Transcript
VO: Where are you going to? Me: I’m going to Jackson state university to pursue a masters degree in political science with the concentration in public law and international relations at Jackson state university.
VO: What’s your study plan? Me: I’m going to Jackson state university to pursue a masters degree in political science with concentration in public law and international relations in which I’m required to complete within the period of 29 months with the total of 36 credit hours which I will be focusing on 11 advanced courses and also have to maintain a CGPA of at least 3.0 throughout the 4 semester of my program, aiming to graduate in May 2027, then after which I will return back to Nigeria to utilize the skills and knowledge I have gained in the US particularly about African Politics in order to create my own policy analysis and political consultancy firm to create a well organized and reformed political ideology here in Nigeria
VO: Why Jackson state university? Me: Aside from the political science program and its concentration in public law and international relations , I discovered most faculty members are certified in politics and public law with real political experience and knowledge about African politics dedicated to helping lots of international students achieve their career goals as it will help me in getting the adequate knowledge in establishing my own policy analysis and political consultancy firm in order to improve the political landscape here in Nigeria
VO:Tell me more about your course? Me: Political science with concentration in public law and international relations is a degree focused on 11 advanced courses designed to deepen my understanding on the proper use of power in the democratic society and international communities. Moreso, this program helps to analyze how the Nigeria government institutions functions and the role of the people in politics as I intend to establish my own policy analysis and political consultancy firm as a Policy analyst who will be involved in researching and analyzing policies which can be relevant to various sectors in Nigeria in order to develop its governance in the county
VO:Why now? ME: I have a career plan which I plan to work for 2 years then I can further my education to pursue a masters degree in political science so I can become a policy analyst and also establish my own political consultancy firm where I can research, evaluate and analyze policies and also provide recommendations to law makers and government agencies in helping to shape effective public policies that addresses social, economic and political issues Though it's different strokes for different folks but I do not think a mock interview will do you any good. It can never be accurate, the only question you are bound to have is the 'who is sponsoring your studies?' if you are not on a sponsored programme, visa interviews are usually not more than 4 minutes per person, I doubt mine was up to 3, though it felt so long. There are 3 points to getting an F1 visa. Sponsorship, ties to the US, and ties to your home country. Ties to the US is already 50% achieved if you are applying for an F1 visa, it will become 100% if you can answer any other follow up questions about your choice of course, department or university. Ties to Nigeria is the tricky part, it can come in any shape or form, it may be from the point of your current employment and if there's a chance you will return to it (length usually helps), it may also come if you intend to travel with your dependents (which is the most tricky of it, a simple no or yes may not be enough for them). My advise, which is very personal as it worked for me is to know everything about your university as it relates to you, know everything about your department as it relates to you and know everything about your course as it relates to you. Read each of the course outline and see which one will be convincing to meet your need for the course, read about your university and see how it is the most suitable for your next career or personal growth. I got funded, so I can't give the best advise for funding questions as none were asked me, but I believe you should be able to link whoever is responsible for paying your fees adequately to yourself, prove the person has enough finances and your growth will affect the person (all in less than 2 sentences). For the Nigerian tie, only God can help you with the an appropriate response, the interviewers are smart people and they are hoping that you say the wrong thing so they can deny you, so please find a way to convince them you are coming back to your job and your dependents do not need to visit you during the course of your studies. As I said all I wrote is my personal experience. It was my first trial though, but I saw enough rejected applicants and heard their interview on the day of my interview. In all, have very strong faith in your God. |

BornToSucced: Hello All,
I had a visa appointment this morning in Abuja and I was refused and given a pink form. I noticed others were given Yellow form.
Please what should I do next? I had my appointment yesterday too. There were so many yellow forms. Only a few had pink, I think the yellow is that one has no ties over there and while the pink is that there's nothing to show one will return home. |

00uwa: I’m seeing plenty November dates for Lagos now oh, is it only me But none for Abuja.
I’ve sha booked for next week in lagos (my ds160 was for abuja), I’m thinking of filling a new ds160 for Lagos today, what do you guys think? Please don't. Your appointment has your application number. And it doesn't matter if on the visa application you choose Afghanistan as your embassy as long as you have your confirmation page, the embassy will scan the barcode and get all your information. |

00uwa: Hi @deees or any other person, please how long do expedited appointment requests take to get approved, and would they send an email? I got approval within 3 hours. I included that I had paid my SEVIS fee in the information I gave, I don't know if it was what helped but I know coming across the fact that on the old platform, you had to pay SEVIS fee before an expedited appointment can be given. So I will advise anyone just paying for visa fee to pay SEVIS fee immediately too. |

I am tired of waiting. The advise has been reiterated here several times. Please do not wait. Open a new profile, pay the money again. Pay for Abuja this time around. |

Kattybaby1981: Pls is there any available date for F1 visa interview for November. Cos I can't see anything. Is it still possible for someone to get November date? Take any available date, then apply for expedited appointment. Make sure you have paid your SEVIS fee. Write the date of resumption on the information part of the request, the course and the school. Write your SEVIS number and the fact that you have paid the SEVIS fee, then make sure you upload your i20 document. You will get dates in November. It's possible you get October dates too. |

Valmary: Good afternoon
Please after paying for visa application fee in the bank, I logged into my account and clicked on pending appointment request and it took me to a page where I was asked to upload my I-20 and state the date of my travel which I did. Then I was told that my preapproval request is been processed.
How long does the request take before I can proceed?
Thanks There is no definite answer to this, just keep checking until it's approved and pray. All things being equal it shouldn't take more than 4 days but if it does, please raise a ticket. |

JohnZak: You do not need to submit a medical assessment to the embassy for a student visa.
Medicals are required for folks applying for an immigrant visa but not for those applying for non-immigrant visas like F-1 visas. Thanks so much |

Gretmang: Please, what’s wrong with the passport pickup services? I had my interview in Abuja last week Tuesday and I picked Lagos as my pickup center. I booked appointment on OIS, on getting to their office in Lagos, they say my Passport isn’t with them. And the ceac website say “issued” what’s wrong? I’ve not gotten any email or message from the embassy to pick up my passport tho. Usually it doesn’t take this long, but has things change? Can anyone enlighten us? Please did you do any medical examination before your visa was granted or is it not required? |

curiouscaramel: Question please how were you able to see dates for both lagos and abuja? if you started the process with abuja do you still have the option to pick a date for lagos? Yes you can pick from either embassies. As I said, there were no regular dates for Abuja even though my payment was for Abuja. I picked a Lagos regular date and when the expedited appointment was approved, I picked for Abuja because I can't have waited for 46 days since 30 August, 2024, paid a new MRV and still go through the stress of Lagos. But for either expedited or normal appointment, you are at liberty to pick any embassy as long as the confirmation page of your visa application is with you, you are good to go. |

Gretmang: So, Abuja got no October or November date anymore? So my expedited appointment request was approved within 3 hours. As instructed on the website, you will need to state the date of resumption showing it's within 90 days and you will be required to upload your i20. There are about 3 days in October, I can confirm that 22 of October is available. There are a lot of available days for expedited appointment in November tho. There are more available date than not. Thanks. |

Have you gone back to usvisappt.com first register an account with them and get the confirmation code, the site goes for maintenance from time to time so if it's just give it an hour and try again. |

I called around 4 pm yesterday, I got the activation mail around 12 pm today. Scratch this, I doubt my call mattered, the third account I created was sent an activation email just now, anyone in this position should check their inbox and spam folders |

For Lagos guys, I called and ranted for the avist people today and from the very vague information they provided, I can deduce that they changed their website from one service provider to another and it's been hard for them to get the payment confirmation and that they are working on it. So I guess you should create a ticket again and pray that they resolve the issue fast, they are clearly incompetent. I have tried to open a new account since, they are not sending verification email, they are clearly not ready and I hope information about this gets to the Embassy. |

Moonlightq: Hello everyone good morning to you . Please who has been able to transition from the old visa application website to this new one, till now I’ve still not received an email from no reply to be able to transition into the new website and it’s over 2 months now , and I paid Mrv fee with the previous websites , I’ve called their support , they keep telling me to hold on, I’d receive it soon I think it's just better to start the process all over again. The system is the most incompetent system I have encountered in my life. They also lie with ease, I am applying for the first time on the new system, I had paid since the last week of August, I called them last week to complain of inability to fix visa interview, the agent first confirmed that I have a valid payment with them and when I inquired about why I haven't gotten a date, he started issuing one false excuse after another, when I show the failure of logic in all his excuses, he said the problem is with my payment, I asked if he was the same person that just confirmed my payments some minutes prior, he then apologised that the payment is intact that it will soon be resolved, till date, it is yet to be resolved. They either do not know their function or the Lagos embassy is filled with people that are not willing to work. I have resolved to take the advice here and start all over again but after 3 months, they still find it so hard to send verification email in time. I even tried calling today, the site said there is a public holiday so there are no agents, and this is an outrageous lie as there is no holiday either in Nigeria or the US. |
