Jellybean - Android 4.3
Kitkat - Android 4.4
Lollipop - Android 5.0
Marshmallow - Android 6.0

They are basically different versions of the android operating system with Jellybean being the oldest and Marshmallow being the most recent.
From Jellybean to Marshmallow you will observe a drastic improvement in speed, GUI aesthetics, better colour and picture output and complexity. Someone that is used to Jellybean will find marshmallow difficult to interact with but will be able to interact with Kitkat relatively well. Conversely, someone that is familiar with Lollipop will find interacting with Marshmallow a walkover and consider both 4.3 & 4.4 (Jellybean & lollipop) archaic.

Are u saying that the newer version is always better in all devi then old version of the os?

joey150:
why no go online and google this thing na..

you have a smartphone, you can browse. go and get detailed explanation and if possible come back open a thread and enlighten others..
that's how the world should work. but laziness everywhere mehn. you cant be bothered to seek answers.

the mods that push this to frontpage are only encouraging ignorance among Nigerians. threads on front page should educate us more times than ask questions.
but now its vice versa.

No No No Pls don't curse him. like me now ,I'm searching from Google for the difference between the two OS that I was directed to nairaland land cos the issue was discussed .
and so I think it is not a bad idea to bring every issue here to discuss cos nairaland has many talented vibrant guys that are ready help.

I discovered nairaland not long ago but I tell u, that learned so much. I got so much I deal now. thanks to my fellow Nigerians .

nonstan:
New os fixes bugs in old ones...tecno c8 as case study comes wt lollipop... It hangs a lot because of the 1gb ram especially when multitasking..but when I upgraded it to the marshmallow..it is now perfect..I can run 20apps underground wtout stress and it has other improvement in security and others..it generally improved d outlook and design and also speed with other exciting features..thank you...

do u think phamtan z is upgradable, cos I'm planning to buy one next week.

inveco:
One biggest problem I have with Lollipop is that Google have made away with the USB mass storage that you know in that your kikat. Now, if you store files in your internal memory and mistaken loose those files, u can barely get them back because computer doesnt seem to discover lollipop devices as Mass storage but rather see them as an attached device.

Moving files from Loillipop to system and vice versa is slow compare to when you manually enable your USB mass storage.

Computer sees USB mass storage as an external storage device thereby interacting well with it and copying files faster.

That's my pain though...

Another problems is rooting

Bro I like ur comment. I was planning to buy phamtan z but friends said its out dated cos it's on kitkat, but now I'm realising that some upgrades are not sweet. Pls do u think one can live on kitkat forever?

why are u all jumping back to kitkat. that means techno r more wise to left their users without upgrade.

Joelfinest:
Ntin bro.. I wan buy Gionee splus dis Saturday

I also have the same plan but I couldn't make up my mind on which phone to buy. if I may ask u, why did u choose s plus rather then m5?

benjeeade:
As for the battery, it last more than expectation,
Gionee M5 is the best android phone with monster battery I ever used.
As for the gaming, I will advice u not to go for dis device if your re a gammer, its a bit lagging while playing some high end games, not too lagging though
Aside dat, M5 fast and smooth in operating, awesome front and back camera, good display, very clear and loud speaker and excellent battery backup,
Check out below image for battery usage.

Thanks a lot, I really appreciated ur respond n I trust it. though u r the third person to tell me how its not good for gaming. I'm not gonna involve myself. but what would you say about gionee S plus

wizzywisdom:
I haven't try dat yet. Will give it a try when I get home today. OTA cable didn't come with d phone but I got d one of my m3

I guess the mouth isn't the same with that of m3. u kno s plus has c- type.

Follow these steps :

Dial *777#

Buy Data
Monthly Plan
2500 = 10GB 30days.

Alternative, you can simply Subscribe for 10 GB data for 2500Naira by dialing *127*58#

You'd need to change your APN from blackberry.net to Glosecure or Gloflat to get connected after you subscribe.

Glo dead here, it has been in grave for two month now. So sad cos I love him so much.

Pls how heavy is the phone. ? and if u are asked to change ur for gionee s plus, would u do that?

wizzywisdom:
The Splus battery isn't dat strong, I could empty d battery in less than 3hrs! Maybe bcoz my previous phone was M3 and am a game freak!

Pls bro, after battery issue did u notice any lagging while playing heavy games? and how hot it gets during gaming?

Joelfinest:
I wan sell my tecno j8 buy this fone, Abeg i need honest advice and pls is how much??

what is wrong with ur j8?

wizzywisdom:
FIFA 16 run smoothly on it. I have MC4, FIFA 16, Mortal Kombat X etc. the phone is OK, I got no problem with multitasking...

Actually I love the phone because it's much lighter then m5 but I learned that it doesn't support OTA cable. how true is that.

it has come at the right time as I'm now looking for a phone that can play heavy games without any issue. But how much would that be?

rajesharm:
gionee splus is really a good smartphone. Phone is really fast, have good camera quality and best is its battery backup... It doesn't heat up. You can easily play heavy games and watch videos

did u play nove3 and fifa16? do u think s plus is better then m5?

slamstanlee:
finally got my own splus today, 46k at one finet communication store, am loving the machine

Pls tell us ur sincere experience on gaming higher ends games.

udysweet:
So guys welcome me to the fold as I just got mine yday, yipee! Lol! Anyway 1st time I'd be counting my hard earned money(maybe with som inputs sha, winks)to go buy an android phone and an MTK device for dat mata(two I'd used previosly were given to me)so u can imagine how strange it felt. I'm still understanding d fone tho,I like its slime look and it feels very light and big 5.5"(my samsung grand wasn't dis big at 5"
Letme keep experimenting,I praying I never hav any issues o but shd it come up,d gurus in d house will help I trust?
By the way got it for 45,500 at FINET communication insid computer village and the Gionee staff who took us der gave me a water bottle.

Pls don't forget to come back and let u know ur experience. thanks

Stancity:
There is no phøne that doesnt heat up, even those brands you mentioned... I once used Sammy s3, Note 2 and currently, i have Ipad 2 + Jiayu S3.. All gets hot during heavy usage.. A friend sold his S5 to buy Htc m8 becus of heat s5 produces wen on heavy use.. My friend also wants to sell his iphone 4 cus of same pooo..

bro I believed some phones heated up more then others and some are quick to get hot more then others. so here I'm looking for a phone that heat up less then many available phones. I can see from youtube how chinese phones gets heated up to 45 in less then 15 minutes .think about using it for two hours.
I'm desperately looking for a mid range chinese phone for gaming in this year 2016.

vicshownero:
Sure the battery is cool, i didn't say otherwise, my point is that gionee wasn't truthful to the performance of the battery, it's not worth the hype

if gionee m5 can last for 24hrs and can play higher end games like niva3 fifa 16 then it worth buying. car charger, office gen can help. if u experienced more defect Pls save us from buying this device.

blackout92:
pls am seriously considering buying this phone. With the cash in my hand currently am feeling a bit unsure about my decision.

I need a hands on review of the phone, does it have a 3gig ram n 32gig rom
Secondly can some one help add me to the watsapp group.
my number : 08130917896.
Thanks in advance

did u buy the phone? n how did u find it?

Norman4real:
I recently bought a tecno camon c9 after my Samsung s5 was damaged and after over a week of use it got me asking myself, is it really worth it for me to be spending so much money on these expensive flagships when brands like tecno are equally capable of handling my needs.

I'm a heavy mobile enthusiast so yeah I know these high end phones always have the latest snapdragon chips, rams of up to 6GB up to 64GB storage, stylish designs and even Gorilla glass panels.

Let's forget that, my question is, does the average user need 4-6GB ram Does one really need such powerful processors Does one need 21mp cameras Does an African like me really need NFC. Do I need an edge curve design? ?? Why is there no FM radio on my s5/iPhone.

Please am not trying to say Tecno's phones are in the same league with the "mighty" Samsung and Apple of this world but am just trying to be realistic especially for people who buy phones and never even come close to utilising their full potential. I just need to know, why buy an S7 at 800$ when u can get a Tecno phantom 5 at 300$. Isnt it time we start spending smartly rather than keeping up with trends.

Please take no offence since everyone knows the depth of their pockets. Personally however I find this c9 as actually an upgrade coz of the better battery life, larger and clearer display and fairly better camera and best of all it cost me more than half what the s5 did.

To be sincere those expensive phones we have been having in our markets, the companies put all their best efforts in producing the best n efficient products for their teaming customers unlike chinese. company who are only after the money. Let me tell u, u can buy a Chinese phone today n wake up tomorrow with serious faulty issue. look we are only buying the Chinese phones cos we don't much to spend on phones.
I'm BlackBerry user but still I buy chinese phone cos I dnt wanna miss higher ends android games that cnt run on our BlackBerry.

pikapizy:
if you what you want is Good camera ,reliable battery ,durability ,good screen and good usage experience ...then your budget matters .that is the money you have ...below are the phones that could suit your needs listed in order of from good to best
tecno L3
Infinix note note 2-
infinix hot note pro
infinix zero 3
Gionee m3
Gionee M5
please all these device are mid range device and they offer all you needed especially battery but please note that the designs and screen sizes differs some are 5inches while some are 5.5 and even 6inch ...you check them up to see the differences

I love m5 but now ppl are saying techno are more durable. what should I do. I planned to get an android next week.

pikapizy:
I've used the 3brands and they all have their pro and cons
Infinix is good phone but their problem is lack of premium design ( even the zero 3 has too much bezzles.. they almost got it right with zero 2 design wise)..another major problem is their battery.. unless you're using hot note and hot note pro ...all other infinix phones sucks in battery performance but they are better than tecno when it comes to releasing updates..infinix released updates for their mid range and low ends devices ( though not via OTA) .

Tecno has trust of durability ,good battery ,average design but their major flaw remains the lack of updates...not even on their expensive flagship phone ...buy a tecno phone you're stuck with its out of the box OS. people who still buy techno are those who are crazy for phantom 5 or are just beginners in the android race

Gionee..among these three only Gionee is globally recognised brand and its devices are listed and featured in gsmarena...they offer value for money but are quite expensive ..they're elites when it comes to battery performance, their battery last wells but also takes time to charge( their high end devices features quick charge but low ends doesn't ) and the good thing is that there's always custom ROMs and tweak for every Gionee phone due to its wide fanbase outside Nigeria ... so you wouldn't have to bother so much for OTA update .
PS: I use an infinix phone and Samsung ...

Somebody told me not to buy gionee cos they drains battery on its own without usage. how do u see ?

bobo65:
Yeah It should be better

But there is no excuse for this failure on c8

It's all d new tecno range of phone with 1gb ram that has this issue

My tecno m6 didn't have this

Infinix hot 1 doesn't do this

Infact I think c8 has d worst Multitasking issue a phone with 1gb ram can have.

I use ucWeb to download, for me to minimize and reply a message on WhatsApp, the ucweb App closes and pauses my download, when no b say na Windows phone I dey use

that's very true. many phones with 1 ram work better in terms of multitasking, then c8. e.g Gionee m3.
