First a brief history of Lagos.

Lagos was one of three separate colonies with it being the first foothold the British had into Nigeria .

Southern Nigeria, Northern Nigeria and Lagos colonies were all separate mandates prior to 1914 almagation

Calabar served as the capital of Southern Nigeria until the outbreak of WW1 and fearing German Cameroon next door, Lugard moved the capital to Lagos and unified all three colonies to one.

Lagos served as the colonial capital until 1953 when it became a federal capital of the republic . It remained so until IBB moved the capital to Abuja and from there Lagos was left to rot.

Now, I am no fan of Tinubu neither do I support his candidacy but what one can not deny is how Tinubu grew Lagos IGR when he was governor from 1999-2003 that Lagos IGR is greater than NW, NE, NC and SE combined.

The legacy of Tinubu was making Lagos look inward rather than to the center which the aforementioned regions are guilty of.

As a major proponent for regional and state autonomy and a call for the weakening of the Federal govt, I can not help but see Tinubu's legacy of making Lagos truly fiscally autonomous a very good and lasting legacy.

Yes, there is an entire industry of rogues running the show from Alausa but the Alausa thugs are still making great strides in developing Lagos than any other state political machinery since 1999.

This is Tinubu's real legacy and hate him or love him, you can't deny this.
