I will give you three names to check them out.
1. Elephone P8000.
2. UMI Iron.
3. Ulefone Be touch 2.
All of these three have the same features with Phantom 5 yet they are currently sold for less than 50k.

Waoh! This brands really need publicity oh! who knows them?

Xiaomi produces better phones at very good prices...i would go for other brands all day. 70k ke? The phone suppose be like 55k tops.. Umi iron offers similar specs and is 43k plus dedicated site for custom roms and development.. Only diff is umi iron has eye scanner security and this tecno has fingerprint.

The dedicated site for custom roms and development sounds like a good deal to me :-)

Tecno don dey grow wings, Them don forget where they were coming from.

What is a Tecno device if not for the reasonable priced smartphone they offer?

Have they Forgotten the main reason why the African and Asian market wholeheartedly accepted them was because of the affordability of their smartphone?

Won't i go for a better brand rather than buying a Tecno for 70k?

A river that forgets its source would in no time dry up. Keep going beyond your boundary TeKno!

In my own opinion, I think Tecno is just trying to upgrade their brand with the advent of Infinix and InnJoo that are ready to snatch the low-end smartphone market from Tecno.

Yes, Nigerians have been reacting heterogeneously about Tecno's premium stance with the launch of an addition to its phantom series, the Tecno Phantom 5 which costs N69,999 according to the recommended retail price.

What most Nigerians are saying is that, they'll rather go for another brand even if it is second hand than buy a Tecno phone for 70k/ Yes, we have HTC, BlackBerry and even Sony that sells certain models of their phones at 70k. But then, the question is: are this phones actually better than Tecno Phantom 5.

In my own opinion, I believe Tecno is trying to upgrade their brand to a premium one leaving Infinix, InnJoo and co to the low-end smartphone market. Even though this does not seem to be going on well, Tecno doesn't seem to be a relenting brand.

Where do you see Tecno in 10 years time?

Would you also go for phones with lower features but better brands rather than Tecno Phantom 5?

For clarification, Google became a subsidiary of Alphabet not that Google changed to Alphabet. Alphabet is just like an umbrella company that houses Google and other subsidiaries.

Business / Google Becomes A Subsidiary Of Alphabet Inc. by deewhy4ril: 4:02pm On Aug 11, 2015
Google as we know it will no longer exist. The company is reorganizing under a new umbrella structure called Alphabet, helmed by Google co-founders Larry Page as CEO and Sergey Brin as President.

The new holding company will include all of Google’s current properties, with the largest of course being Google itself. Sundar Pichai will become CEO, getting a promotion from his previous role as Senior Vice President.

Google, yesterday, announced concluded plans to restructure under a new company. Page will serve as the CEO of the newly created holding company and Sundar Pichai, a long-time Google executive who most recently served as the company’s senior vice president of products, will head Google. Google’s current directors would become Alphabet’s directors.

Phones / Infinix Launches #thehottestone Social Media Contest by deewhy4ril: 4:29am On Aug 02, 2015
Do you know Infinix is on the way to release another smartphone model?

Day before yesterday, Infinix Mobility launched a talent hunt competition tagged “#TheHottestOne Social Media Contest. If you don’t know, the French mobile company would be releasing another smartphone model in the nearest future. #TheHottestOne is an hash tag for the social media campaign of this smartphone. This is similar to #Zero2Hero and #TheNextHero which were used to make noise about Infiniz Zero and Infinix Zero 2 on social media.

During #TheHottestOne campaign, Nigerians can show their talent as Infinix embarks on the search for The Hottest One. Nigerians who have one talent or the other can participate in the contest by uploading short videos or pictures of themselves displaying their talent using the official hashtag #TheHottestOne on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Tech is so crazy. Innovation is kind of synonymous to tech and we have guys thinking about solutions to our problems on daily basis. We now have a power bank that lasts forever (No Definite Life Span).

Guys at Enlighten have stepped up the game of energy by designing Better Re. With Better Re, all you need to do is change the batteries that power the power bank and you can use it for as long as you want.

The most basic Better Re package costs $39 (a discounted rate tho).

What do you think about this development?

In my opinion, I prefer high end techno phones to high end infinix phones, techno has parts that can be replaced anywhere but infinix parts is as scarce as snow in the Sahara. Techno gets hot as infinix phones, they are not far from each other, but techno had more foolish releases and unfortunately infinix is trailing behind sad .

I guess Infinix also has the Carlcare Warranty-ish that Tecno too enjoys.. plus after sometime, Infinix's parts shouldn't be scarce like that again

Thanks to Tecno, we might never have had cheap smartphones in Nigeria but Infinix is ready to challenge Tecno's market monopoly big time. Infinix Hot is even on the way after a grand release for Infinix Zero. Tecno is also doing great at making their Phantoms look better.

Which brand do you prefer?
