Sorry for posting this here..but I really need answers because I don't understand what is going on here.. So I decided I wanted to learn computer programming so I started searching for where I could acquire the skill. I can across these guys yesterday but I would not mention their names here.. I asked how much it would cost to study software engineering because its a six months course..could you believe how much these guys mentioned for me? 850k...yes that right #850,000 and that's not all it still goes as far as 1.7million naira..

Please If i may ask, computer gurus in the house.. Is there any way this prices are justifiable? Because I don't get..

All these and many other discouraging words are what many army aspirants like myself are being told on a daily basis regarding our chosen carrier path..

I'm aware of the possibilities of all these bad things happening but honestly I just can't be discouraged, like I just don't care..man must die one day weda you enjoy your life or not, weda you live long or not. this has been my child hood dream.. Even when I was just 11 or 12 I think, I remembered when my dad asked me what I would love to become when I grow up, he was really surprised when I yelled "soldier".. My passion for the job knows no bound and the current state of things in my country is only making that child hood passion even stronger. Trust me, I am from a rich home, with parents capable of sending me abroad for a better life after school but mehn, I just can't, I don't believe that kind of life is for me. I have better plans for me and my country..

So that brings me to the initial purpose of this thread, aren't there any benefits of joining the Nigerian army ? Or is the army only full of disadvantages.. Let's make this thread interesting..

So you think a crash course of 6 months is what you need to compete in US or Canada? Do you know that Canada universities gradautes some of the best trained IT graduates in the world today. There are about 2M IT professionals in Canada today, yet you want to come with one useless IT crash course and think you can easily get a job? How do you guys reason self? You think first world is as lazy as 3rd world? Many international graduates here are looking for work in their field so they can qualify for PR, you are thinking of crash 6 months programne to compete with graduates from UofT, McGill, Waterloo, UBC, etc. Even general labour sef go hard you to get. Do you know how many universities in these country offer computer science as course. Do you know how many tech savvy graduates from India, Pakistan, China, Hong Kong, etc are hustling to move to US and Canada, even with MSc? Sir stop this bad dream, it is a ladder to poverty and regrets, I know because I live in Canada and I have an MSc Computer Science graduate from Pakistan with years of experience both in Pakistan and Dubai who works for me as system analyst.
Again, so at 20 you still do not know you are an adult, you are opening your mouth that you dropped out at 300L, how stupid. In Canada, at 16, you are an adult. You think your father is going to be alive forever?
My friend, just go back to school and sit your ass down and face your studies. Do you even realise that if you start afresh now, you will be 26 when you go into the labour market? New graduates now are in their early 20s, so by then the industries will see you as an old man without experience. Please, GO BACK TO YOUR CLASS AND ROUND OFF WHATEVER IS LEFT OFF YOUR 300L PROGRAMME,except you are looking for short-cut to poverty in life. This is the same advice I would give my son. Fortunately he is graduating at 22 in same computer science. So, you see son, I am advising you from a knowledge point of view, not just from conjecture or what I read on the net. Goodluck!

Mods please forgive me.I know this is not the right section for this but,Only God knows how bad I need advice right now. I really need all the advice I can get now especially from the adults In the house. please anyone who has something to say, please advice me like I am your own child... Let me just go straight to the point..I am currently on the verge of gaining admission into a government owned university in Nigeria, all the expenses are going to be taken care of by my dad and I am currently 20 years old... After much thought and thinking I've been doing lately and not to forget I dropped out of a private university last year at 300L because honestly I don't just like school I feel it's not meant for people like me....I am a business mined and money driven person and I know I very hardworking especially at things I love and set my mind to do. After giving much thought to how things are going in this country and the kind of dreams I have for my self and my family, I am currently considering calling my dad for a talk and explaining to him that I would love to learn any I.T related course in Nigeria for may be six Months or so then after that, travel to Europe or Canada for work....



Guys I really need your advice... And please take note, money is not the problem because I know who my father is and what he is capable of..

Would it be wise to travel abroad for work after studying an I.T course here in Nigeria considering my age and what I stand to achieve with in the span of four years of working abroad, or should I just stay and study my computer science jeje in Nigeria.

Honestly I can't help but weep for this country... seeing my fellow poor country men who are trying very hard to earn a living getting frustrated by their own government and the system for nothing but selfish reasons saddens me alot....our leaders are just hell bent on using suffer to kill us in this country...but the creator pass them ..I just can't wait to leave this country honestly, travel to a saner country, earn a better living, marry a beautiful white woman, give birth to beautiful biracial children and live a better life by the grace of the creator ....
