The All Progressives Congress (APC) Aspirants’ Forum, Kogi State Chapter, has rejected the candidature of Governor Yahaya Bello for a second term in office over alleged bad leadership and non-performance. The group’s decision was made known in a communique issued at the end of its general meeting on Monday in Abuja. The communique made available to Igbere TV, was jointly signed by the Chairman, Ben Adaji, and Secretary, Anthony Oye. The group appealed to Comrade Adams Oshiomole, National Chairman of the APC and its National Working Committee (NWC) not to give the governorship ticket to Bello. It argued that giving the ticket to Bello to run for a second term would be a risk, warning the party may lose the state to the opposition. It said Bello had remained adamant in spite directives by President Muhammadu Buhari to all APC governors to reconcile and accommodate the party’s aspirants after the last primaries. The statement alleged that Bello had continued to treat Kogi aspirants as enemies and second class citizens in the party they laboured to build. It said the forum had therefore resolved to mobilise and support one of its members to contest the forthcoming primaries and the subsequent governorship election slated for November. It added that after much deliberations and debate, the forum nominated three of its members, including Alhaji Yahaya Audu, Dr Chief Adedoyin and Dr Toyin Akanle for the contest. “At the end of the deliberations, Alhaji Yahaya Audu was unanimously endorsed to contest the forthcoming Kogi Governorship Election,” the communique said. The forum also used the opportunity to pledge unalloyed support for the Buhari administration. May 29: Buhari Set To Resign, Makes List Of 42 New Ministers • Okorocha, Akeredolu, Amosun blocked from submitting ministerial list • Minister of State for Petroleum portfolio to be abolished • Fashola’s Ministry to be unbundled; while Aviation, Transportation may separate President Muhammadu Buhari is set to resign from his position as Minister of Petroleum Resources, just as emerging reports show that the president has made a list of forty-two (42) new Minsters ahead of May 29 inauguration ceremony. Igbere TV recalls that after he became President in 2015, Buhari appointed himself as the substantive Minister of Petroleum, and Ibe Kachikwu, as the Minister of State for Petroleum. “The President is likely to resign from the Petroleum Ministry, while the Minister of State for Petroleum portfolio will be abolished,” a top source within the Presidency, who spoke to Igbere TV on the condition of anonymity, revealed on Monday. This comes as the president is expected to convene the last meeting of the Federal Executive Council, FEC, and officially dissolve its membership, this week. Already, a special FEC meeting held today (Monday) at the villa — presided over by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo — for the Ministers to attend to last-minute memos and projects, while the valedictory FEC meeting is slated for Wednesday. Igbere TV gathered that about 70 per cent of the current Ministers are desperately lobbying to serve in the next cabinet. Some top government and party sources revealed that some of the Minister seeking to return to the cabinet have abandoned their tasks and are busy chasing after close associates of the President to help them into the anticipated Federal Council. Another source in the All Progressives Congress, APC, said that Buhari has weighed his options for a new cabinet that will help him deliver on his campaign promises, stressing that he (Buhari) had already compiled a list of such Ministers. Igbere TV recalls that Buhari had earlier given a hint that he would be reshuffling his cabinet. Politically, state governors are expected to nominate those who should be ministers from their states. Some of criteria considered before submitting such names are party loyalty and competence. But the political terrain has changed. This time, some powerful politicians have hijacked the party structure from the governors, who are supposed to be the party leader in their states. Governors Rochas Okorocha, Rotimi Akeredolu and Ibikunle Amosun of Imo, Ondo and Ogun States, were said to have been blocked. Igbere TV gathered that a cabal in aso rock has blocked all moves by the governors to influence those that should be appointed in their states. A top source said: “Some of these governors still do not understand Buhari’s style. I know three of them whose gestures have been rejected. I can confirm to you that no one knows the content of the list yet. But we have letters already blocked and some rejected on the subject matter.” Impeccable sources at the presidential villa collaborated the report. “There is intense lobbying. This is because they have realised that unlike in 2015 when it took about six months for the President to show up with his list of Ministers, he is determined to hit the ground running this time around. “From all indications, Mr. President is going to set the ball rolling. He is bent on sending his list of Ministers to the Senate almost immediately it is convened in June. They have held talks with the members of the National Working Committee of the APC and other close associates of Mr President,” a highly placed source told Igbere TV. Another reliable source disclosed that APC members who lost their Governorship and Senatorial elections are also lobbying to make the cabinet. It was learnt that some of them will be compensated with Ministerial and other Federal appointments, however. The source further disclosed that: “Buhari will have an extended cabinet this time around, disclosing that, apart from the mandatory 36 Ministers from each State of the Federation, the President is likely to pick 6 extra Ministers, one from each geopolitical zone, making it 42.” He added: “Remember the President mooted the idea of an expanded cabinet in 2017, but had to shelve the idea, because of various political interests. But definitely, this time we are going to have an expanded cabinet. This time around, the Power, Works and Housing Ministry under Fashola, will be unbundled into three different Ministries, for efficient service delivery. The Aviation Ministry will be promoted to a full Ministry, and will no longer be under the Ministry of Transportation.” Another top source, who spoke in confidence, said: “No one knows the mindset of the President, on how he will constitute the next Federal Executive Council. The situation is so dicey that those rated as closer to the President in the cabinet, cannot authoritatively say whether or not they will be retained.” Source: http://igberetvnews.com/698499/may-29-buhari-set-to-resign-makes-list-of-42-new-ministers/ Cc: Lalasticlala, Mynd44, OAM4J

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered a lawyer, Orji Nwafor-Orizu to produce a medical report from a recognised government psychiatric hospital confirming that he is mentally stable to appear before the court. Nwafor-Orizu is counsel representing Senator Osita Izunaso, the third defendant in the ongoing certificate of return suit filed by outgoing governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Igbere TV reports that Justice Okon Abang who issued the order on Friday, stressed that Nwafor-Orizu would not be accorded audience in court until he produced such report. In addition, the court held that Orizu must equally enter an undertaken to be of good conduct throughout the hearing and conclusion of the matter, not just before the Federal High Court in Abuja, but before any other superior court of record. Our correspondent reports that the order followed the conduct of Orizu at the resumption of hearing on Friday. It all began when Orizu who was not in court when the case was called, walked in when counsel to the plaintiff, Kehinde Ogunwumiju (SAN) was already on his feet to address the court. Meanwhile, in Orizu’s absence, another lawyer, S.N. Anichebe, had announced his appearance on behalf of Osita Izunaso. But just as the plaintiff’s counsel was about to make his submissions, Orizu interrupted and insisted the court could not proceed with the matter claiming that he was in possession of an order of the Court of Appeal stopping proceedings. While brandishing the alleged order of the Court of Appeal, Orizu shouted, “this court cannot sit on this matter. This matter cannot go on.” The judge asked him to sit and allow Okorocha’s counsel to continue his argument but the lawyer insisted, saying; “the court will not proceed until my motion is heard”. The judge warned that he was frustrating his proceedings and should desist from any further antics. Following the warning, the judge rose for about five minutes and when he resumed, he asked the security personnel in the court to watch Nwafor-Orizu closely, saying he didn’t feel safe with him in court. The judge said he felt unsafe because he was not sure of the mental state of the lawyer, adding that no sane lawyer would act in the manner he did since he had not announced himself on record and yet was insisting to be heard. He asked the security personnel to be ready to remove him from the court should he display such conduct again, and that where he resisted, he should be arrested. Justice Abang also sent for court’s doctor and informed her to be on standby as he might need to send a lawyer to her to ascertain the lawyer’s mental fitness. In spite of pleas from Nwawuche, counsel to the second defendant that the court should pardon Nwafor-Orizu’s behavior, the judge said he would only acknowledge him after he presented a certificate of mental fitness. A Federal High Court sitting in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, on Friday dismissed the no-case submission filed by former governor of the state, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, who is being prosecuted for an alleged N200m fraud. Igbere TV reports that the court consequently declared that Daniel has case to answer. The ruling was delivered by Justice Olarenwaju Mabekoje of the high court. Igbere TV recalls that the former governor was re-arraigned on Monday, April 16, 2012 by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a 32-count charge bordering on misappropriation of funds to the tune of over N200 million, criminal breach of trust and abuse of office. Governor Fayemi Kayode of Ekiti State has relieved over 2,000 workers in the state of their duties. Igbere TV gathered that the affected workers are those ‘hurriedly appointed’ by the immediate past governor, Peter Ayodele Fayose. Igbere TV recalls that Fayose had announced their appointment after the July 2018 governoship election in the state. The decision, according to a statement made available by Igbere TV by the Ekiti State government, followed deliberations by the State Exective Council (SEC) on the report of the committee headed by the Deputy Governor, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi, that reviewed irregular appointments made between 2014 and 2018. The government said the recruitment exercise violated due process. Igbere TV gathered that the affected 2,000 workers comprises 600 teachers recruited into the Teaching Service Commission (TSC), 400 personnel employed into the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and 1,000 injected into the system through the Office of Establishment and Training, among others. Briefing journalists on the development in Ado on Thursday, the Commissioner for Information, Tourism and Values Orientation, Muyiwa Olumilua declared the appointments as null and void, adding that they were hurriedly done with ulterior motives and in bad faith. The Commissioner disclosed that the governor had directed the Head of Service, Ayodeji Ajayi, to collate all available vacancies in the Civil Service, with a view to recruiting suitable and qualified Ekiti citizens into the Public Service, irrespective of religious and political affinities. Olumilua, however, urged the affected workers to participate in the next recruitment excercise to be announced in due course. Togolese National Assembly has altered the country's constitution on Thursday thereby allowing President Faure Gnassingbe stay in office until 2030, extending his family rule in the country to 63 years despite widespread protests. Igbere TV reports that the family's political dynasty started when Gnassingbe’s father, Eyadéma seized power in a 1967 coup and ruled the country until his death in 2005. Gnassingb came to power through a controversial poll in 2005, and has since then, been ruling as president of the West African country, Togo. The new constitutional amendment also defined a two five-year terms for the country's future presidents. The new law does not take into account the three-terms Gnassingbe has already served since succeeding his late father in 2005, the latest of which ends next year. In other words, president Gnassingbe by virtue of the new law, will serve a fresh two five-year terms from 2020-2030, bringing his rule to a total of five five-year terms (25years). “The National Assembly has decided to transform Togolese citizens into subjects of his majesty Gnassingbe,” said opposition member Brigitte Adjamagbo-Johnson in a statement in which she called for all opponents to unite. Igbere TV gathered that the law was passed overnight after 90 out of 91 members of parliament voted in favour of the reform. The opposition boycotted legislative elections in December, because of the dispute over term limits, leaving them without parliamentary seats and powerless to vote against the law. Findings by Igbere TV revealed that passage of the new law is likely to spark protests. Deadly clashes erupted over the proposed reform in 2017 after security forces cracked down on demonstrators calling for Gnassingbe's resignation, during which at least 500 people were killed. The new reform is, however, not alien to West African countries. Igbere TV recalls that Chad had last year, introduced a similar reform that would allow President Idriss Deby to stay in power until 2033, when he will be 81 and will have been in power for 43 years. A United States Federal High Court sitting in Houston, Texas, has sentenced Nigerian internet fraudster, Hammed Akinola (aka Yahoo Boy) and his American accomplice, James Campbell, to about 23 years imprisonment for defrauding about 45 victims the sum of $10million. Igbere TV gathered that while Akinola bagged 180 months jail term, his American accomplice was jailed 90 months, for a $10 million fraud. The sentence was ordered by a District Judge of the High Court, following investigation by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). In a statement issued by the U.S Justice Department and sighted by Igbere TV, the Judge, David Hittner handed the sentence on April 12, after both men pleaded guilty to the charges. They were found to have taken or attempted to take large sums of money from roughly 45 victims, who thought they were sending their money to a title company to close on a home. Kano State House of Assembly has commenced move for creation of four additional emirates in the state. At Monday's plenary, the Speaker of the House, Alhaji Kabiru Alhassan Rurum read a letter brought to the house for consideration by one Ibrahim Salisu and others, requesting the house to start a move for creating four additional emirates in the state. The proposed new emirates are Karaye, Bichi, Rano and Gaya. The implication of creating additional emirates is that the powers of the present Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammad Sanusi ll, will be reduced. The four proposed emirates are presently being headed by district heads and if upgraded, will have emirs as heads. Ironically, Ganjude’s move to break the emirate into smaller units will mirror what Abiola Ajimobi, the outgoing governor of Oyo state, did to the olubadan of Ibadan, Saliu Adetunji, whose authority Ajimobi sought to decimate by approving 21 beaded kings for Ibadan. Ganjude and Ajimobi are in-laws. Sanusi II, who was appointed the 14th emir in 2014 after his suspension from office as governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) by former president Goodluck Jonathan, is believed to have opposed the re-election of Ganjude, who needed a disputed supplementary election to be returned to office in the March 2019 governorship election. Ganjude lost the Kano municipal heavily, leading to rumours that he would come after the emir after the election. “The governor is determined to remove the emir, and if this does not succeed, he will break the emirate into pieces to whittle down Sanusi’s power,” an official of the state government, who asked not to be named, told Igbere TV on Tuesday morning. The Arewa Consultative Youth Forum (AYCF) says that the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his cabals have hijacked over the country. AYCF President, Yerima Shettima stated this in an interview on Monday, while lamenting that the South-West was allegedly ruling the country by proxy. Reacting to clamours that the South-East should produce Nigeria’s President in 2023, Shettima insisted that power must remain in the North because Tinubu and his cabals have allegedly taken over the country. He stated that North will hold unto power in 2023 after which it may decide to handover to the South-East. Shettima told Daily Post: “To be very honest with you, the question of power moving back to the South does not even arise; a case where one of our own from the North is a President, they deliberately put him there and they are milking the entire country in the interest of the South-West and South and you think we will waste this eight years of this administration that does not have a clear direction of what they would do for other parts of the country, it won’t work.http://igberetvnews.com/630868/just-in-tinubu-has-hijacked-the-country-north-will-produce-2023-president-group/

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) says the people of the South-East region are undeserving of any leadership position in the country having voted for the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar. This is coming few weeks after the 2019 general election and few months away from the new political dispensation expected to take off in June The party's position on Ndigbo, Igbere TV reports, was revealed by its Deputy Spokesman, Yekini Nabena in a media chat with journalists on Thursday. Igbere TV correspondent who covered the event quoted Nabena as saying that Ndigbo have never gotten what he described as “juicy positions” in the Nigerian politics because according to him, the Igbo people always played themselves out. The party spokesman said the people of South-East are the most uneducated neophytes when it comes to “playing politics” in Nigeria. According to him, the Ndigbo are fond of putting all their eggs in one basket. He cited an ‘example’ where he said the South-East region rejected President Muhammadu Buhari and voted Atiku Abubakar of the PDP. Whereas, Buhari polled over 25 percent votes in 3 out of the 5 South-East states in 2019, Nebana claimed the region cast over 99.9 percent votes for Atiku. Checks by Igbere TV also showed that In Abia state, Buhari defeated Atiku in all the 5 Local Government Areas of Abia North Senatorial district. APC also won the Senate seat and 2 out of the 3 House of Representatives seats in the area due to the influence and hard work of ex-Governor Orji Uzor Kalu for the ruling party, having come from the region. “The people of South-East should be blamed for their predicaments because they don’t know how to play politics. They play politics like a one-way thing. They all voted for Atiku in the presidential election. So, now that Atiku lost, what's the way forward for the region?. They shouldn't wail if we fail to recognize them because over 99.9 percent of them followed Atiku. “They should learn how politics is played especially at the national level. They should play 50-50. If this one didn’t work, the other can work,” Nabena added. Nigerians React Nabena’s statement has since been met with criticisms and diverse reactions from Nigerians online. While some Nigerians on social media identified Buhari as ‘Tribalist’, others accused the APC of practicing sectional politics full of hatred and nepotism. Here Are Some Comments Gathered By Igbere TV On Social Media “It is unpatriotic to say that Igbos shot themselves on the leg by voting Atiku. It is undemocratic not to have choice. Even at home identical twins may not like the same thing. Igbos are Nigerians irrespective of who they voted for. Oshiomole himself started with Labour party before abandoning it.” - Oyejinde “I don't c what positions have to do with with d voting pattern of Igbos in d last elections, It's not right to generalize. In Abia for instance, Orji kalu delivered 4 APC in his own little way.” - Michael “APC should know that the Igbo man will always thrive no matter the condition. Sideline us, incapacitate us, come for our heads, we'll still find a way to survive, as far as the sun rises; our sons and daughters will be informed of the acts of this government, for reference purposes.” - Fizzy “This is coming from a ruling party that suppose to unite Nigerians immediately elections are over. God, what is the sin of Nigerians that you have cursed us with this kind of leaders? So if a zone did not vote for you, it has stopped being part of the country?” - Collins “Another beer parlour slowpoke speaking as a drunkered. Do we also blame Abia where Buhari won convincingly? And this bloody idiot is a party official. What a shame. Nigeria can never progress with this mind set.” - Gift “Yoruba man with politics of one basket, what does that mean in democracy?” - Ojiofor “Since Lawan said he will not mind spearheading a constitutional amendment for life presidency, they should also reflect it in their new constitution that any zone that does not give at least 50% votes to the ruling party should forget ministerial appointments since some idiots don't understand the meaning of inclusive governance but remain stuck on their skewed interpretation of 'winner takes all'” - Favour “APC does not understand the meaning of unity. They play divisive politics and look for excuses. They may regret their actions soon. Are Igbos not Nigerians? Did some Igbo states not vote for APC in Presidential election? What is wrong with APC and sectional/vindictive behavior. I have never seen PDP accuse any tribe or section in this country since 1999.” - Jasmine “US have told them to use this tenure to unite the country, they are inciting nepotism again, if u will marginalize them allow them to leave. Simple. APC govt is hopeless. One day Buhari and all the idiots supporting this evil will drink sniper” - Ogunjumo “Smh! Same APC that said Ibo didn't have reps in NASS to make leaders. Now they've, same APC is giving another reason why they shouldn't be considered for a position bla bla bla. Lyk seriously?” - James SOURCE: http://igberetvnews.com/601750/shock-outrage-apc-moves-punish-igbos-says-99-9-voted-atiku/ Cc: Lalasticlala, Mynd44, Dominique

Senator Ahmad Lawan (APC, Yobe) has finally reacted to reports making round on social media of his alleged plans to amend the constitution to make President Muhammadu Buhari life president if made Senate President. Yesterday, rumours went round on social media suggesting that Lawan had promised to amend the constitution at the beginning of the 9th assembly to allow Buhari stay in office beyond 2023. This came less than 48 hours after the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) announced Lawan as its preferred candidate for the Senate President position in the incoming 9th assembly. Igbere TV recalls that the National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole had on Monday night, presented Lawan as “the next senate president” in a meeting Buhari had with Senators-elect of the ruling party in Abuja. Reacting to the report, however, Spokesman of the Senate, Senator Aliyu Abdullahi in a statement obtained by Igbere TV on Thursday, described the report as fake. He said the report was a desperate plot concocted by “evil and desperate politicians” bent on frustrating the emergence of Lawan as Senate President in the 9th assembly. “This is just a very desperate attempt by detractors and some politicians who want to taint the good image of the Senate Leader, and the future Senate President, Senator Ahmad Lawan. “When we (Senators) met the President two days ago, he (President) was very emphatic that he has stood for election five times, and this is his last. “The President made it clear that he wants to retire quietly to his home, on the basis of which he is going to work very hard these four years since Nigerians have given him this opportunity, to leave a lasting legacy behind. “The President’s statement clearly shows that he is a full democrat who knows that our constitution only provides for second term which he has gotten, and for which he is grateful to Nigerians. “Therefore, to come back to say that Senator Ahmad Lawan will amend the constitution to keep him in office beyond 2023 is just the height of evil thinking and bad politics taken too far. “The public should discountenance that and focus on supporting a very genuine and transparent process that will lead to the emergence of our own choice leaders as Senators-elect when the 9th Senate unveils,” the statement read. The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday said the position of Deputy Senate President in the incoming 9th Assembly was still open. It also said only the position of the Senate President had been decided, which according to the party, is final. The National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Lanre Isa-Onilu, made the assertions at a press conference in Abuja. The party spokesman, who was apparently reacting to the perceived sidelining of some geo-political zones in the distribution of power, said the zoning formula for the remaining positions was still being worked out. He said, “We have decided who will be the next Senate President according to what democratic principles allow and that person is Senator Ahmed Lawan. “That has been done and announced, it is left for the party to cross the‘t’s and dot the ‘i’s to get that sorted out. The zoning arrangement for all the other positions is in the works. “Just as the media and Nigerians have been informed about who our preferred candidate for the Senate Presidency is, we will come out to tell you what the zoning formula will be for the remaining positions in the Senate and also in the House of Representatives very shortly.” Igbere TV gathered that Isa-Onilu told newsmen the APC had decided to go beyond zoning to identify candidates who were fit for the positions. In reaching the decision, Igbere TV learnt, the party spokesman said there was nationwide consultation among party leaders. Igbere TV recalls that a former Governor of Abia and Senator-elect, Abia North Senatorial district, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu had threatened to contest the Senate President position on the floor of the house if the APC sidelines his zone, South-East in the distribution of power. Kalu, who indicated interest in the Deputy Senate President seat, asked the party to zone the position to the South-East in the interest of equity and justice. Speaking with newsmen on Wednesday in Lagos, Kalu, Igbere TV learnt, said he was aware that the APC, which had the majority in the Senate, had zoned the Senate President position to the North-East and the Deputy Senate President to the North-West. He said, “I am a very loyal party man. The party has zoned the Senate presidency position to the North-East and I want to respect the party’s will. But the second position is what we are not going to allow to leave the South-East. “So, as far as I am concerned, in the South-East, I am going to run openly on the floor of the house for the position of the Deputy Senate President. “I am not going to listen to the party neither will I listen to anybody. Nobody that wants to be the Deputy Senate President is more loyal than I am to the party.” Reacting to the position of Dr Kalu on the zoning arrangement, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Senator Sabi Abdullahi said no APC senator-elect would go against the party on that day. “I don’t have the idea on what the party is doing on the position of the Deputy Senate Presidency. The party will ensure that a senator from each of the geopolitical zones benefit from the leadership positions, that is, two presiding officers and the four principal officers,” he added.
