Former Governor of Abia and Senator-elect, Abia North Senatorial district, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu, popularly known as OUK, has called on the All Progressives Congress (APC) to zone the position of Deputy Senate President to the South-East in the interest of equity and justice. Dr Orji Kalu made the call on Wednesday while speaking with journalists at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos. The two-time governor, while indicating interest to vie for the position of Deputy Senate President, revealed that he enjoy the support of 56 Senators to contest the Senate Presidency, should the party fail to heed to his call. Kalu noted that he was aware that his party, the APC, which has the majority of Senators-elect so far, had zoned the Senate President position to the North-East and Deputy Senate President to the North-West. He said: “I am a very loyal party man. The party has zoned the senate presidency position to the North-East and I want to respect the party’s will but the second position is what we are not going to allow to leave the South-East. “So, as far as I am concerned, in the South-East, I am going to run openly on the floor of the House for the position of Deputy Senate President. “I am not going to listen to the party neither will I listen to anybody. Nobody that wants to be the Deputy Senate President is more loyal than I am to the party. “I have suffered for the party and have been called by Nigerians to come out. I want the party to respect the will of every other person and I am committed to democracy and contesting on the floor of the House.” According to him, Articles 50 and 1 of the Constitution make it clear that members of the National Assembly can elect their principal officers amongst themselves. He said it will only be fair for the position to be retained in the South-East, stressing that both President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, were well aware of this. “So, if justice must prevail, you have to bring the Senate President from the North-East and you bring the Deputy Senate President to the South-East. “The chairman of the party is from South-South. The President is from North-West. The Vice-President is from South-West and also the Senate President will come from North-East. “Whether it is Senators Ahmed Lawal or Alli Ndume, this will be decided on the floor of the House. “So, for me, the tripod in Nigeria is Ibo, Yoruba and Hausa and we are going to get the deputy senate president and I will fight on the floor of the House like no other person has fought. “That is not challenging the party but this is about looking for justice. Buhari said recently after the elections that he will be addressing issues of injustice and this is part of the issue,” Kalu said. The business magnate further maintained that he was qualified for the position having been a former member of the Federal House of Representatives from 1991 to 1993 and also a two-time governor. “I know the nook and crannies of how legislators operate. I have dealt with them and I am not a new comer. So, it is going to be impossible to edge me out or edge a whole zone out by claiming we are new comers. “What I am fighting for is justice, fair play and for Nigeria to continue to be one. I have suffered in fighting for the unity of the country. They cannot use National Assembly or petty House officers to divide the country. “I have sweated. All my investments are in the North, in the West and the South and we must protect these things and live in peace,” he said. Speaking further, Dr Kalu said, “I have the capacity for lobbying. I am well known in East, West and North. If the party continues this way, I will run for the Senate President if justice is not done to say South-East bring the Deputy Senate President. “I can assure you that there are over 56 Senators in my kitty now for either the Senate President or the Deputy Senate President that have already signed to what I believe in. It is only just to unveil it on the floor of the House.” SOURCE: http://igberetvnews.com/600508/breaking-senate-presidency-56-senators-backing-kalu-vows-challenge-lawan/ Cc: Lalasticlala, Mynd44, Dominique

Deputy Governorship Candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in Rivers, Chief Akpo Bomba Yeeh has withdrawn from the 2019 Rivers State governorship election, Igbere TV can report. Igbere TV reports that Yeeh equally defected to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state moments after announcing his withdrawal from the race. Addressing newsmen at his residence in Port-Harcourt on Monday, Chief Yeeh said the reason for his decision is to enable him work with incumbent Governor Nyesom Wike to “move Rivers State forward.” He said: “After due consultations with my immediate family, friends and supporters, I, Chief Akpo Bomba Yeeh, the Deputy Governorship candidate of the AAC for the 2019 governorship election hereby resign my membership of the AAC and announce my defection to the PDP to join hands with Governor Wike to move the state forward.” He added: “I was the Deputy Governorship Candidate of the AAC in Rivers State up till today 25th March, 2019, when I decided to withdraw my candidature and resign from the party with immediate effect. “The March 9 governorship election in Rivers State has been lost and won; lost by my party, African Action Congress (AAC) and its Candidate, Engineer Biokpomabo Awara and undoubtedly and overwhelmingly won by the Governor of Rivers State, the candidate of PDP, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.” Speaking further, Yeeh alleged that “despite the interference of the security agencies, Rivers people stood their ground and voted for Governor Wike.” Yeeh said: “The collated results further showed that contrary to the false claim of fictitious lead by the AAC/APC alliance, the PDP overwhelmingly won all the elections in 18 out of the 19 LGAs, culminating in the declaration and return of the party 26 House of Assembly Constituencies by the Constituency Returning Officers. “This fact was confirmed on the 13th of March 2019, when INEC stated, as a matter of fact, that it had in it's safe custody collated results for 17 Local Government Areas as well as the declaration of the PDP Candidates for 21 State Constituencies. “The outcome of the elections on March 9, 2019 clearly showed the preference of the people of Rivers State. Even the blind can see and the deaf can hear the echo that Rivers people overwhelmingly voted to stick with Governor Wike for the next four years to encourage him to continue with the good works.” SOURCE: http://igberetvnews.com Cc: Lalasticlala, Mynd44, Dominique

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has set aside an order stopping the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, from collating results from Tafawa Balewa local government in the Bauchi state governorship election, Igbere TV can report. Although, the court said it was within its jurisdiction to hear the matter, the judge however, insisted that it will be more appropriate to allow INEC carry out its constitutional duties, while the aggrieved parties approach the Election Petitions Tribunal to challenge the eventual outcome. Justice Inyang Ekwo, the presiding judge, therefore, issued an order to INEC to continue and conclude the collation of the results of the March 9, 2019 governorship election in the Tafawa Balewa LGA of Bauchi State. Igbere TV had previously reported that Justice Ekwo had issued an order stopping the collation on Tuesday following an ex parte brought before him. He had also granted an interim injunction restraining INEC from resuming, concluding and announcing the results, pending the determination of all issues raised by the aggrieved parties. The application was filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the incumbent governor of the state, Mohammed Abubakar, who is the party's candidate in the guber poll. The Senator representing Kogi West at the National Assembly, Dino Melaye has called on Nigeria universities to emulate the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Igbere TV can report. In a post apparently to mock the commission, Melaye advised universities to declare certain examinations inconclusive just as INEC did in some states in the just concluded 2019 general elections. Taking to Instagram, the Senator wrote; “Nigeria Universities should learn from INEC. If the number of students who fail a particular course are more than those who Pass, that course should be declared inconclusive and supplementary examination should be conducted within 21 days. (SDM)”.WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT HIS ADVISE? SOURCE: http://igberetvnews.com/599105/just-in-take-a-leaf-from-inec-melaye-urges-nigeria-universities/ Cc: Lalasticlala, Mynd44, Dominique

Following a report by Igbere TV over alleged neglect of Ms Stephanie Idolor by family of little Miss Success Adegor, the Principal Secretary to the Governor of Delta State, Hilary Obi Ibegbulem, has promised to buy a car for Stephanie. Stephanie is the lady who filmed little Success after she was driven home from school for owing fees. The video has since gone viral on social media and has attracted many personalities including celebrities and NGOs, who have donated freely to the little girl. Igbre TV reports that earlier today, Stephanie complained that despite receiving at least N5million free donation ever since the video went viral, the little girl's parents have refused to reward her. She said she deserves at least N1million from the sum as little appreciation for the role she played in bringing the story to limelight. In her words, “It’s not like I want to share any percentage of the money they have made with them, they are my neighbours. But If Success and her family have made over N5million, I deserve at least N1million”. Speaking on Sunday, Ibegbulem said the car will be bought and handed over to Stephanie on Monday. He declared that Stephanie is the real hero, and not little Success Adegor as widely celebrated. Igbere TV gathered that the Secretary made the promise when he hosted members of Okowa and PDP social media team in Squash Club of the Delta State government house, Asaba on Sunday evening. Meanwhile, the Deputy Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Osanebi Ossai, on Friday promised to give Stephanie the sum of N500,000 to start her own business. More to come...
