He supported Jonathan's removal of the subsidies in 2012.

Does that make him a hypocrite? No. He genuinely believed that subsidies did not cost any money to provide, hence, he saw it as cruel to remove it.

They wouldn't have spent 1% of the resources they expand in one year on this senseless war to resolve matters.

When the insurgency first started, the Nigerian military was quite heavy handed. If a soldier was killed, they would round up a few people and kill them. Their bitter children or brothers would join Boko Haram to avenge their deaths. It was these extrajudicial killings and brutality by the army that made people hate and distrust them.

What if the Sultan condemned these practices by the army, was he in the wrong back then? I don't know what comments he made but did it refer to something like this? It was only after the Islamists became far more brutal than the army did the communites begin to warm up to the military.

I am apolitical. I don't vote. If I imagined myself as president, I would see those soldiers at the war from as though they were my own children. The death of a soldier, or them coming back as amputees pains me to the bones.
