CHURCH GOER RECEIVE SENSE. We met, became
friends, you liked me, eulogized me, poured
encomiums on me, marveled at my humility
and simplicity, called me your best friend. You
praised my free-giving spirit, adored and loved
me. We moved on fine. You couldn't do without me. I was a confidant, a friend in need and
indeed. Then one day, after some months, you
asked for the name of my church, I innocently
mentioned it. Gbam! Bombshell! You shifted
back, readjusted yourself, swallowed hard,
rolled your eyes in their sockets and instantly found me to be diabolical. The name of my
church does not ring a bell so it must be
blacklisted. It is not one of the popular 'chapel
of something something' etc. You have heard
stories about the church. Hmmmm. I need to be
feared. You asked if I read the Holy Bible and again, I innocently quoted some portions, some
chapters, some verses. You are not convinced.
You do not believe. From that day things started
falling apart and the centre could no longer
hold, according to our legendary Chinua Achebe.
You sought for and found all the antonyms of the encomiums you had earlier besieged me
with. I was, all of a sudden, a devil because of
my faith, my belief, my church. You started
demonizing me, quickly discovered that I'm
stingy and uncaring. Hastily concluded that I'm
now proud. You suddenly discovered that I'm wicked and diabolical and you should not shake
hands with me or drink from the same cup. No
longer the simple humble being and friend you
used to know. You are scared that I may suck
your blood because you have heard stories
about my church, my faith, my religion, my belief. A few hours ago a brother had posted
that Abraham was not a Christian, yet he was
the friend of God. Go and read it and receive
sense you church goer. You forgot quickly that
our Lord Jesus Christ said not all those who call
Him lord repeatedly will enter into the Kingdom of God but those who do the will of His Father.
Name of church is irrelevant. You forgot that
during the transfiguration of our Lord Jesus
Christ whom you insultingly refer to as "Chisos
chisos...in chisos name" etc without bothering to
add the Lord and title 'Christ', He did not prescribe, suggest, define, specify any
particular church for us. You all have ready
made names of 'popular churches' and if
anyone falls out of this list, that person is
demonic. You forgot that we are saved by grace
through faith. You forgot that even in your worship you offend God. You forgot that your
so-called righteousness is filth and sinfulness
before God. You forgot that you should first
remove the beam in your eyes before
attempting to remove the grit in someone's
else's eyes. You have sinned immediately you criticize and condemn another. You forgot,
really, that all have sinned and come short of
the glory of God and there's none righteous but
Him. Name of church cannot help you. You
forgot that you are conceived and born in sin
and iniquity. You forgot that the Holy Book says you should not judge so that you would not also
be judged. Remember that God does not count
sin for everybody..yes. "Blessed are those
whose iniquity are not imputed" . Church goer
receive sense. Some of those you condemn are
already saved. Here you are, because of one psychedelic, popular church that you attend, you
are denigrating another person's faith. You
quickly forgot that since after the fall of the
Tower of Babel when we were scattered with
diverse tongues and languages, humankind has
not been under the same umbrella of religion. Please hasten to realize that even in the time of
Christ, other people worshipped differently. His
attributes attracted people to be baptized and
converted. Not his grammar. Not the name of
his church. Not his beautiful adornments on
Sundays. Shine your light before men that they may see your good works and glorify your
Father who is in Heaven.... That's what the Holy
Book says. Finally, I am waiting for the Day of
Judgment when God will line us up, judge,
justify, condemn, glorify or bless based on the
name of our churches. I'm waiting, patiently. I know it will never come. MY ADVICE 1. Stop
condemning people based on their faith, belief
and religion. 2. Remove the beam in your eyes,
don't judge because you are not righteous
either. 3. Don't even think that you have done
anything for God to merit His salvation. 4. Let your attitude, your character, your good works,
your humility, your simplicity, your good
neighbourliness, your forgiving spirit, your
loving nature etc be the magnetic force to drag
me to your acclaimed "heavenly ordained
church". 5. Remain in love with one another. 6. Remember the two most important five letter
words - GRACE and MERCY. Happy Sunday Friends
