This Ode no know say Mark could have also given up facebook if not for proper funding and enabling business environment in the US. Here is Nairaland, one of Nigeria largest online presence, government is yet to notice it or encourage it as a national success story for the youth.

How do you expect youth to research and come up with something noble if they can't even afford food or rent. Do you think great ideas come out from troubled or distress minds?

Nigeria youths are simply trying to survive not dream lofty dreams on empty stomach!!!!!!!!!!

Not every issue should be directed at the presidency!!!

Politics / FFK Recent Statement Means Things Are Gradually Getting Better by designking: 10:38am On Jul 16, 2016
Here are his statements and my thoughts about them:

I give thanks to God that I am free after 67 days in detention.
FFK has been a national figure and a powerful politician in Nigeria. Spending 67days in jail is not an experience people like these ever dream of. It must have been a life shattering experience for him. It could have also given him enough time to reason how fallible and fragile freedom is. He must have missed all the good things of life for the period he stayed in jail. Also the uncertainty when he could possibly regain freedom would have given him frustrations and depressions.

I thank my wife, lawyers, children and friends for all their support.
FFK has realised that once you are in detention or prison, what could save you in Nigeria is your loved ones and the people that truly cares. I noticed he didn't recognised any other politician or even Nigerians for their support. He has realised that those cheering him on, are simply paying lip service and they won't be there when the ships are down.

This was the worst experience of my life but God was with me all the way. I suffered immeasurably but I count it all as joy.
It is the worst moment of his life and he suffered immeasurably. I think he would hence forth do everything possible t avoid going back to jail even though it means putting a zip to his mouth. FFK now know of a certain, that in the current day Nigeria, money cannot buy you freedom no matter the billions you have. Call it dictatorship or tyranny, wealthy people are currently careful with their dealings at the moment.

I am innocent of all charges and I look forward to defending myself vigorously in court.
He is aware that the challenges are not over. Using the word defending myself vigorously, implies the journey just started.

Politics / Re: Deregulation: Petrol Consumption Falls By 30%, Says FG by designking: 10:42am On Jul 09, 2016
Smuggling and roundtripping stopped because it is no longer beneficial. Demand does not just drop drastically this way because of a suppose increase in pump price. Petroleum price has always been way higher than N100 in most part of the country even when government was subsiding it.

I see little change in the lifestyle of most Nigerians as regard their previous fuel consumption. My family run a petrol station and our current total daily sales per litre has always averaged as that of several months back.

The question to ask is why is the product suddenly available nationwide?

Science/Technology / Juno Probe Successfully Enters Jupiter's Orbit After 5 Year Mission by designking: 10:40am On Jul 05, 2016
Well, what a day. What an achievement.

After a five year journey from Earth, Juno the solar-powered spacecraft squeezed through a narrow band, skimming Jupiter’s surface, avoiding the worst of both its radiation belt and its dangerous dust rings.

It fired its main engine, slowing its velocity, and allowing it to get captured into Jupiter’s hefty orbit.

After it was complete, jubilant scientists fronted a press conference, and tore up a “contingency communication strategy” they said they prepared in case things went wrong.

“To know we can go to bed tonight not worrying about what is going to happen tomorrow, is just amazing,” said Diane Brown, a project manager from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

Scott Bolton, principle investigator of the Juno mission told his colleagues: “You’re the best team ever! We just did the hardest thing Nasa has ever done.”

Now the spacecraft will orbit the planet once every 53 days until October 14, when it will shift to a tighter 14-day orbit. And after about 20 months of learning everything it can about Jupiter’s interior and its atmosphere, it will eventually succumb to the harsh environment and plunge into the planet’s crushing centre.

But right now all that is ahead of us. We watch wide-eyed, eager to learn about the giant planet, and in doing so, learn more about how we all got here.

People can argue as much as they like. They can even label me Yoruba, but the truth remains that the Ijaws need to change their image in the region.

blackpanda:

Celebrating violence doesnt help the niger delta cause. When u blow up pipeline, kidnap people and murder them, u are only punishing urselves. Nigerdelta will soon be like somalia dead zone with zero economic activity, mass ppoverty, illiteracy and hunger. If u think violence shows strength, u are greatly mistaken. The world is moving away from oil. You are just sitting on a time bomb
I am Urhobo and live in Delta State, it is shocking the entire region has been labelled volatile because of these Ijaw militants. The region is not gaining anything from these bombing and violence. There is too much arms in the hands of civilians. The violence is so real that most leaders find it difficult to speak against these acts for fear of been killed.

Yes, the Ijaws got amnesty, even the Itsekiri's and Urhobos rejected the amnesty deals when they were invited to submit names because they faulted it on many grounds. The amnesty and other deals struck by the FG with the Ijaws are all scam and the result shows that; what has the amnesty achieved in the region? Bayelsa is still the least developed in the region even though a president came from there.

Have you taken your time to check most Ijaw settlements in the region. They are the most backyard in the region. The ND needs a more holistic approach to solving its problem not all these bombings that ultimate degrade and pollute our own environment. We are no longer attracting FDA into the region because of these Ijaw militants who are only good at sabotaging multi-billion naira foreign and local investment.
Politics / The NDA Are Predominantly Ijaws And Niger Delta Is Not All About Ijaws by designking: 8:53am On Jul 03, 2016
There is a false notion been peddled by Nigerians that militancy in the oil rich Delta is a drive by all Niger Deltans to address its lack of attention by the federal government. It is a lie from the pit of hell. The Ijaws make up about 97% of militants because they tend to be more violent and lazy. You hardly see an Ijaw man in the Niger Delta with a proper education and a career.

They usually use the cover of Niger Delta to promote their violence. They are never fighting for the region but their pocket. Take for instance the amnesty program, more than 97% of the beneficiaries are Ijaws. Their agitations is for their personal gains. They hardly integrate with other tribes in the region.

An Ijaw man sees an Urhobo, Itsekiri and other tribes men as potential enemies. They are very much scared to integrate because of their criminal nature.

They celebrate crimes and hardly see anything wrong in sea piracy or oil bunkering. There was this event I witness in my area some time back. It was reported in the news that some sea pirates were shot dead by the Nigeria joint forces and news filtered in that two Ijaws in the neighborhood were part of the pirates and they were probably shot dead (though only one died).

I was amazed by the cheer number of Ijaw youths and leaders who gathered around the family. They were more than 500 men and women all assembled daily in the house of the pirates for more than 3days. Few days later, the member of the pirate phoned in that he was able to escape and he is currently in hiding. There was so much jubilation by these Ijaws and they were just pouring white powder on their heads celebrating in broad day light a pirate that escaped from being killed or captured.

Crime and wars are a major part of the Ijaw tradition. Their biggest deity 'Igbeso' is a god of war. There is a need for re-orientation of the Ijaws, they need to start going to school and also shun violence.

Again Ijaws are just a small part of the Niger Delta and not the entire Niger Delta. Niger Delta Militants should be called Ijaw militants to avoid roping in other peace loving people of the Niger Delta.

Most Ijaw settlements are usually filled with armed thugs and they tend to be very violent and commits a lot of crimes. In the main cities, they are usually calm and disguise as gentlemen. They tend not to have a business or regular job they go to. Their activities are usually on the creeks where they either vandalize pipelines or launch out for robbery or piracy.
