This got me worried and curious so I took myself to Google and discovered that my water was exhibiting characteristics of iron in the water. Iron is a somewhat troublesome chemical even though it is naturally occurring in the earth’s crust at 5%.

My research made me realize that when it is raining, the soil absorbs water, which dissolves iron and causes it to seep into the groundwater, a major source of water in Nigeria.
Apparently, this was the cause of my water problem because my borehole is my source of water and once water is pumped and exposed to air directly or indirectly, a reddish-brown substance begins to form and this sediment which looks a lot like tiny mud particles is the oxidized form of iron that will not dissolve.
Although iron is not hazardous to health, it is considered a secondary contaminant. When iron is present in water it gives water a metallic taste and when we use this water to make tea, coffee, and other beverages, it produces an inky or black appearance and a very harsh taste.
Iron will leave reddish brown stains on fixtures, tableware, and laundry that are very hard to remove. When these deposits break loose from water piping, rusty (mud-colored) water will flow through the faucet.

The Aquadev water treatment plant from Devtek Tanks is an effective means of treating iron in the water. The Aquadev will not only remove iron from water but also eliminates all forms of impurities present in water. Safely managed water for sanitation and drinking are critical for protecting human health and containing the spread of COVID-19. This makes water the core of sustainable development and is critical for socio-economic development, healthy ecosystems, and human survival.
The use of contaminated water for drinking and domestic chores increases the chances of water-borne diseases. Waterborne diseases are illness that causes microscopic organisms like viruses and bacteria which leads to fever, cholera giardia, dysentery, hepatitis A, salmonella,
It was reported by Chika Okeke that “contaminated water is a contributory factor to the deaths of more than 70,000 under-five Nigerian children annually”. Also, the World Health Organization reported that at “least two billion people make use of contaminated water sources and contributes to more than 840,000 deaths each year. Of those 840,000 deaths, 361,000 are children under the age of five”

To avoid being a statistic, one needs to know what your water source contains by carrying out a water test analysis to advise you on the need to treat your water or not.

Water treatment is the process that removes contaminants and undesirable components or reduces concentration so that the water becomes fits for its desired end-use.

We at Devtek are here to serve you to get improved water quality either for household, commercial or industrial.
Do you know the quality of your water? To know your water source contains and the quality of your water, kindly call 08099333360, 08033241375, or 09122605399 or send an email to info@devtektanks.com. For further information, please visit our website www.devtektanks.com
