Liverpool aand most orher big teams would turn this build up to goal,cos the lb would just throw a cross field pass to salah,and before you know it salah is already well balance with the keeper,with the defenders distance behind him to even challange him ........but at chelsea, Alonso or any other player would rather pass backward to the cb than to risk a forward long pass.our gameplay frustrate attackers alot ,wonder why most of them struggle here and go on to shine elsewhere.

That's why Chilwell may be important with his crosses. Alonso is too slow with his control and pass.

I just hope he'll be able to cross/pass from deep positions. The one dimensional play is tiring.

This is more like it. Mount and Alonso were focused on Lamptey. Lamptey lays the pass to Trossard who takes the shot with his weaker foot and scores. We had 9 players there! ☹️

notice how attacking fullbacks have lesser defensive capabilities and vice versa. the less offensive they are, the more defensive minded that full back is. Chilwell would have Pulisic and Kovacic to do the dribbles and in time he could learn a trick or two

We were not too great defensively although I saw improvements.

Everybody should sha calm down. Yesterday's match was more like a warm up. Lamptey was harassing Alonso upandan yesterday, Pulisic would have minimised that. March was bombing down that RW, Ziyech would have minimised that. Players were making runs that nobody picked up, Silva would have helped. Jorginho and Kante couldn't drive forward, Kovacic will do that. Werner started counters with no one to pass to. Just allow the season to progress before pushing agenda abeg

That's tactics to allow a low quality chance for the opposition to protect the danger area. Any average keeper and it won't be an issue

The problem is that Kepa isn't an average keeper. Opposition players now know that any decent long range shot is a goal. They should just announce Mendy abeg.

One thing I've noticed is that our defenders/midfielders don't close down players who take shots outside the box
