Donwilson88: Nigerian’s are threat to Nigeria’s unity! If Nigerians are one, lets act like one! Most Elites have realised our challenges and problems, why not solve it than being selfcentered! Lets Leave APC LP and PDP outta this!!
Political Parties are mere vehicles and they house personages who drive the art of Governance. Over time, we can pinpoint 'who' does 'what', presently, APC and LP should be avoided like plaques.
Clearly, both APC and LP have shown tendencies to further split this country. They are insensitive to our divergent linings and will remain so, even after getting into power.
It is no longer secret that the former speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, has thrown his weight behind the candidate of the presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar ahead of the ruling All Progressives Congress candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and others. The consequences of Dogara's endorsement is very significant - which I shall explain.
Yakubu Dogara has over the years established himself as the most influential political figure in Bogoro, Dass and Tafawa Balewa local government areas of Bauchi State - incidentally, these are areas he has been representing for almost sixteen years in the National Assembly. Dogara is literally an institution in these areas.
In 2015, as chieftain of APC, Dogara contributed to the embarrassing defeat Goodluck Jonathan suffered in Bauchi State to Muhammadu Buhari. In 2019 when Dogara worked for Atiku Abubakar of PDP, the Party's fortune in Bauchi greatly improved to 209,313 votes against the 85,000 votes in 2015. He was equally instrumental to the victory of Senator Bala Mohammed in the 2019 gubernatorial election against Barrister Muhammed Abubakar of APC, who was incumbent as at then.
In 2023, Atiku will go into the election in Bauchi State with the full support of PDP in the State led by the performing Governor Bala Mohammed, former governor Alhaji Adamu Muazu and with the formidable support of Yakubu Dogara. This puts Atiku in pole advantage to switch Bauchi to PDP for the first time since 1999 in a presidential election.
Furthermore, Dogara's endorsement of Atiku will influence the voters of northern Christians across Bauchi, Gombe and Adamawa axis where Dogara is held in high esteem as a frontline Christian political leader from the north - this put Atiku in advantage to sweep these states of the northeast.
The writer no understand use of English. How on earth does this nonsense make atiku the most prepared candidate? Leave the nonsense u write change the caption. Thank u
E pele o Mr. Brighter Grammar, this is clearly and objective note.
Nigerians have always maintained that Peter Obi presidential ambition is in favour of APC continuity agenda. His plan is to balkanise Atiku Abubakar of PDP votes to ease smooth passage of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
Kikikikikiki... We know the game from the outset. Obi is working for APC!

On Thursday a group of aggrieved members of All Progressive Congress (APC) purportedly from northern Nigeria and led by a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Lawal Babachir, formally endorsed Mr Peter Obi of Labour Party for the 2023 presidential election. The group hinged their decision on not backing the candidate of their party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, over his decision to pick Senator Keshim Shettima from as running-mate. The decision not to back their Party's candidate was based on the fact that both Tinubu and Shetima are Muslims from the South and North respectively.
While I, like many others, commend the Babachir led group for turning their back on the divisive Muslim-Muslim pair of APC, I find their decision to support Mr Peter Obi as morally unjust and in conflict with the group's position on Tinubu/Shetima pair.
It is an open secret that Obi picked Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed, a Muslim from Kaduna State as running-mate, yet, he strategically schemed out Northerners and Muslims from strategic positions in his Presidential Campaign Council. Without mincing word, Obi's Campaign team is heavily "Anambranised" and "Christianised" (if I must use both words) - which is as dangerous for the country as Muslim-Muslim pair of APC if allowed to occupy the position he is running for. In other words, the APC Muslim-Muslim pair and pan-Anambra/Christian team of LP Campaign are same coin of different sides.
In the LP's Campaign Composition, Peter Obi, a Christian from Anambra State, is the Presidential candidate, Julius Abure, a Christian from Edo State is the Chairman of the Advisory Board and the National Chairman of the Party, Chief Clement Ojukwu, a Christian from Anambra State is the Secretary of the Campaign, Dr. Doyin Okupe, a Christian from Ogun State, is the campaign Director-General, Chief Oseloka Obaze, a Christian from Anambra State is both the LP PCC Campaign Manager and Deputy Director-General of the Campaign, Mr Valentine Ozigbo, a Christian also from Anambra State is a Senior Campaign Advisor to Peter Obi and so on. The only top positions ceded to the North and Muslims are the positions of LP's running-mate (Datti Ahmed) and Campaign Council Chairman (Mr Mohammed Zarewa).
From the aforementioned, Peter Obi shut out not just Northern Muslims but also Southern Muslims and non-Anambra Christians (Save Okupe and Julius) from strategic positions in the LP Campaign Council. This clearly shows that Obi and LP are as guilty as APC in sectionalism in the composition of their team. To make matter worse, Peter Obi denied LP' National Secretary Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim, a Muslim from the North, who ordinarily should be the LP' PCC Secretary, and gave the position to Clement Ojukwu, a Christian from Anambra State, who is the Party's Organising Secretary.
If Babachir could listen to the voices of majority Nigerians who are aligned with the candidature of Atiku Abubakar and Ifeanyi Okowa, the Presidential and Vice presidential candidates of Peoples Democratic Party respectively. This is because only the pair represents Nigeria's diversity and unity in terms of zoning, religion and region.
In the PDP Council, the Candiate, Atiku Abubakar is a Muslim from Adamawa State, the running mate, Okowa, is a Christian from Delta State, the Campaign Chairman is a Christian from Akwa Ibom State, Campaign DG is a Muslim from Sokoto State, the Party National Chairman, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, is a Christian from Benue State, the Party Board of Trustees Chairman, Sen. Adolphus Wabara is a Christian from Abia State, and so on.
Perhaps, Babachir saw these yet aligned with Obi Campaign Council that is even more sectional than that of his party while sidestepping the Atiku-Okowa team that represents Nigeria's ethnic and religious diversity in its composition due to mischief and hypocrisy. Maybe Babachir's public endorsement of the sectional Peter Obi Campaign is a strategy by Asiwaju Tinubu to ensure balkanisation of opposition votes to pave way for his victory knowing that majority of Nigerians are against his candidacy. This may be true when one take into account that same Tinubu was instrumental in the nomination of Babachir as SGF and same Babachir almost singlehandedly purchased APC Presidential nomination form for Tinubu.
Meanwhile, in all fairness and equity, it is just for all Nigerians to reject Muslim-Muslim ticket of the ruling party as well as the 'Anambranisation and Christianisation' schemes of Labour Party. Our diversity must reflect all that we do - this is the only way we can #RecoverNigeria. This is the reason majority of Nigerians are aligned with Atiku-Okowa presidential ticket.
God Bless Nigeria
Tonye Barcanista
I will trace back to when he was Governor, he biased religiously, he propounded Anglicanism vs Catholism in Anambra State. That problem - Denomination is still alive and even in the civil service structure.
In all, he not an option all, not to talk of his counterpart in APC.
brutustech: Yesterday's outing in Kwara state is a wake up call to everyone who had written off PDP in the state because they were oblivious to the grassroot efforts Bukola Saraki and the PDP leaders have been putting forward after 2019 election. The pulse of the people that was felt across the state only suggests that Kwara will swing in favour of PDP in 2023.
Those who understand the factors playing out in Kwara state will tell you that the dynamics are different from 2019. APC who rode to power in the state through a coalition have not only failed to deliver but have also been plagued by bigger crisis which culminated into the establishment of a third force in Kwara thereby splitting their base.
PDP on the other hand not only retained their structure but provided refuge to those who were disappointed and regretted contributing to the emergence of the governor who is deemed to be one of the worse performing governors in Nigeria today. As of today, it is said that he has no groundbreaking project to his credit.
Neutral voters have also been swinging in favour of PDP because the APC government in power have nothing to use to woo them or convince them on why they deserve to be reelected. Many of the dynamics shaping up in Kwara bears a similitude to what we experienced in Osun state.
PDP hasn't gone to sleep in Kwara state, infact yesterday was an indication that the party has consolidated on its pre-existing structure and is now stronger than ever.
Kwara has taken the lead for PDP in the North Central and there will be interesting events to prove this in the coming days.
Going by current happenings in our political space, anyone doubting the coming of PDP is being sentimental. Kwara has a very dynamic turn this time, it is Otoge APC.
Mcweber: We all know and can see the hand writing clearly on the wall the path Peter Obi is taking to make a pathway for APC....The game he is playing is very glaring for us to see...Lessons must be Learnt come 2023
We pray his greedy ambition won't eat deep into PDP's votes. For those deceiving him, they will get the memo soon.
What lies ahead for Labour Party in 2023 and beyond. Right now, we are enjoying the buzz and the new found love for our party, due to the emergence of Peter Obi, as our candidate but is this for real or it's just a passing phase?
Ahead of the 2023 elections, the major contenders are the usual suspects of the representatives of the two major parties in the country APC and PDP. The unusual thing about this election is the entrance of new players in the game, we have the candidature of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwanso throwing their weight in the running of things.
Also quite a number of people have seemed to acknowledge one of these contenders as a thriving third force that represents the will of the people. The candidature of Peter Obi has seemed to be the prayer of most Nigerians, he seems to be very different from the regular politicians, he is younger, appears to tick the boxes and seems to enjoy the goodwill of the people. But the question is, is he really who he say he is? Is he a man that can be held accountable to his words? To have an idea of who a man is and where he is going to, it would be apt to look back at where he is coming from. What have those he has learnt from and also impacted said about him? Hence, the question, is Peter Obi a Jesus or a Judas
Peter Obi first foray into the world of politics came under the tutelage of the Ikemba, Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu of APGA. Ojukwu had built and established APGA as the party of and for the Igbo interest, the party that represents the uniform interest of the Igbo man to stake their claim in the center of Nigerian Politics. This is the platform that a relatively unknown Peter Obi rode on to the seat of governance in Anambra, and despite the fact that it was not a first term that spelt success, Peter Obi still rode on the popularity of the party and Ojukwu for a second term.
In the words of Bianca Ojukwu, she said “It is simple. I maintain that Peter Obi betrayed Dim Ojukwu, and tried to destroy APGA for his own selfish interests. He has continued to undermine Ojukwu’s personality and recently, he has gone ahead to desecrate his legacy. From relative obscurity, Obi was brought into national prominence when the leader, Ojukwu, through his party APGA, offered him an opportunity and platform upon which he ran and became governor of Anambra State.
“Ojukwu sacrificed so much and labored for him to become governor. He (Ojukwu) was fiercely protective of him and helped him overcome the various challenges that confronted him. Peter Obi had a difficult first tenure and stepped on so many toes that the majority of our party faithful were adamant that he should not be nominated for a second tenure. Yet Ojukwu stood by him when it mattered most, jeopardised his health by traversing all the local governments in a rigorous campaign on his behalf and begged the people of Anambra State to grant him a last wish by returning Obi for a second term. “This feat was achieved for the first time in Anambra State’s history on 6th February 2010. Peter Obi swore to Ojukwu, upon his honour, that he would never abandon APGA; that he would quit politics or die; rather than leave APGA, and that he would preserve this legacy as a potent voice and rallying point for Ndigbo” She ended this with a proclamation that History would judge Obi harshly, isn't this manifested in what Mr Charles Soludo said about Peter Obi recently? Another pointer to how much his own people don't think much of his personality, is highlighted in the fact that no major or minor politician in his State has identified themselves to his cause, and over the years, not a candidate that he has endorsed or supported has ever won the Anambra elections. If your home thinks you to be not a man of your words, how do you intend on convincing others? Haven't, we all said, charity begins at home? Peter Obi, despite his promises and oath to Ojukwu, left the party that gave him the foundations, despite his oaths and promises, this is alarming because this is the same man that said “Hold me by my words”. How valuable are his words?
One would think that was the only instance and maybe he could be forgiven for being ambitious but what about his relationship with PDP and Atiku? It is well known how he said on national television that PDP as a party is the only vehicle to his ambition, he also said Atiku has been an elder brother, a boss and a leader. It’s quite ironic that he would want to leave a party that gave him national prominence and wouldn't be bothered to inform the man he calls Leader and Elder brother. The same man that fought tooth and nail, to defend his choice as the vice presidential candidate.
Not just leaving the party, he has been casting aspersions at the party, at how corrupt the leaders of the party are, a party that until May, he was an active member of. This refers to how he described APGA as a motorcycle, and PDP a vehicle to his ambition on national Tv. The same PDP and APGA he is running against, one now ask, if Peter Obi cannot stand by the words he made in public, by oaths and declarations he made.
Now, the concern is who is Peter Obi? How real are his promises? Now I am concerned, because he is the candidate of the Labour Party, let's not talk about the whole issue of how he came to the party, I am more concerned with Peter Obi and the future of Labour Party.
So far so good, there has been little to show his interest in our collective vision as a party, he hardly campaign or support, the other candidates in the party. So far, in the campaign process, he hasn't really identified with either the gubernatorial or senatorial candidates of the party. Labour Party is offering Peter Obi a platform, basically on a platter of roses, he has done little to promote the interest of the party.
Which brings the concern I have, what happens after 2023. Let assume that he wins the election, what happens? Is he going to stick with the party, despite the fact that he hasn't identified with the other candidates? Or would he decamp to a party, with a more robust representation at the legislature? What happens if he lose? Would he stick with the party and build ahead of 2027, or would he stick to being typical and leave to the next VEHICLE that will drive his ambition?
We have all seen that his words of assurance cannot count for much, so what exactly does Peter Obi want from Us, are we just a vehicle to his ambition?
Which begs the question, Is he really the Jesus, we are told he is or maybe the Judas that betrayed Jesus?
Abasifreke Odion writes from Uyo
While we can't cancel anyone, but we be sure he is who he seen to be. So far, the social media hype is pushing him into what Buhari is today.
Seriously, he is not that Messiah as his antecedents show otherwise. He will be that distant 4th.
PDP administrations moved Nigeria from almost a chaotic economic state to path of prosperity until APC came in 2015
Corruption was all-round but PDP setup anticorruptiob agencies to address it...PDP further setup institutions to separate goat from the yam..
Boko Haram insurgency started under PDP yet PDP administration was addressing it until apc came to compound it and added a new dimension with Bandits, marauding killers etc.
Vote PDP
Lies lies lies...
Were you in Coma when PDP had the economy as one of the fastest growing economies in the world?
Economy sabotage Corruption Mismanagement of resources The theft of money meant for fight boko haram Insecurity( bombing of UN building and abuja) Inflation
It is understandable that you will only see what you have in your mind. I hope you can see what APC brought in, in the last 7 years.
We know as well, that hunger can deter your sight and reasoning.
At the return of democracy in the second republic, the National Party of Nigeria (NPN), Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) and the Nigerian Peoples Party (NPP) were the dominant parties in the country. Of these three parties, the NPN was the first (and only) to adopt zoning of offices; the party chairmanship was ceded to the South while the presidential ticket to the north. The party equally made the green revolution (agriculture) a primary focus in their campaign. The other parties; ie UPN and NPP centered their campaign around welfarism and social justice/social change respectively.
In the third republic, the Social Democratic Party (SDP), which was the dominant party centred their messaging on welfarism and social justice. The other party, National Republican Convention (NRC) was conservatism leaning.
At the return of the fourth republic, democracy in 1999, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) - which still dominates the political space, as well as the All Nigeria Peoples Party (now defunct) pursued Social conservatism and Economic liberalism. The Alliance for Democracy (later Action Congress of Nigeria) adopted a combination of progressivism and welfarism.
While all parties between the period of 1979 and 2007 tailored their messaging in accordance with their respective agenda and Ideology, the Congress for Progrssive Change (CPC), which was formed in 2010 with the sole purpose of actualising the presidential ambition of General Muhammadu Buhari at the 2011 election, brought a new but sad dimension to the political arena. The CPC ran a vicious campaign that was never seen in the country - though their concentration was primarily in the northern part of the country. The consequence of that was a post-election violence that was never seen in Nigeria which cost the lives of members of National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) and other young Nigerians in Bauchi, Kano, Kaduna and other States - sadly no single perpetrator nor any of their soonsor was convicted.
In 2013, the ACN, CPC and ANPP entered into merger to birth the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the sole purpose of wrestling power from the then ruling PDP. During the 2015 electioneering the party deployed propaganda, hate speech, violent messaging and bigotry against then ruling PDP and her supporters. For the first time in Nigeria, the APC and her chieftains threatened to form a parallel government if the electoral outcome did not favor them - may I also add that the same chieftains of APC in 2014 charged residents in Osun State to mete jungle justice on anyone that sought to hijack their mandate in Osun gubernatorial election.
As a consequence of their vile speeches, the electoral atmosphere became extremely tensed with many fearing that a second Civil War may erupt. Though APC won the 2015 poll, the party successfully made hate speech, threat of violence, propaganda and several other vices as an electioneering norm to unseat an incumbent to attain power; only God knows what would have happen if the result was not in the APC's favor.
To make things worse, the party successfully reversed every democratic gains that Nigeria attained between 1999 and 2015 under successive PDP administrations - inflation rate is at all time high, insecurity is talk of the town, prices of commodities are skyrocketing on daily basis, pump prices of petrol and kerosene are not only exorbitant but relatively scarce, schools are shut down due to striking teaching and nonteaching staff, the polity is tensed - Nigerians are angry.
Therefore, it is incumbent on the electorates to be resolute and deliberate to #RecoverNigeria from the grip of the ruling APC in February 2023 poll: based on his manefesto and antecedents, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the PDP Presidential Candidate, is undisputably the best alternative for the to lead Nigeria from the pollution of the ruling APC.
God bless Nigeria
Nigeria has remained one of the poorest and unequal countries in the world, despite her vast resources. Our economy is fragile and vulnerable. Job losses, eroding incomes and lack of citizens' access to basic amenities have pushed 63 per cent of the Nigerian population into living in multi-dimensional poverty.
With Atiku, Nigeria’s Economy will be back on track.
Ttalk: Atiku travelled as Tambuwal aide just the way he travelled during Bukola Saraki as Senate president.
He never travelled with entourage while going to Dubai his home country, why is he always at the apron of serving government official while visiting US, he only doing so under the cover of bilateral relation that covers diplomatic passport to US.
This one you are bringing up no sell at all.
Your Atiku is a fraud and conman, better Asari Dokubo, MNK or Igboho rule than this your perpetual failure
