Siony:

good talk bro. but to me i use both techniques . i like designing from scratch because it enable me to do a lot of twinks which you cant do with already themes(template) and also give you the chance to be creative but if i have tight schedule then i can use template, i love joomla and wp they are good tools i don't keep hands-off.
As a professional, i cannot immagine myself wasting time to start coding login/register forms. I have done too many in my non-cms days.
I am not trying to prove a point to anyone that i can code or not.
I am trying to save time and make more money in a shorter time. If you have seen my CMS sites, they are all different, and some, you cannot
even tell that i used cms - because of the professionalism i put into my works.
Webmasters / Re: Please Help Me Professional Web Designers by dhtml3(m): 6:14am On Apr 22, 2011
And again, check out http://www.tejubabyfaceshow.com/ i made it with drupal. Does it look like your everyday cms works?

Even as i am typing all these, i have a number of websites on my desks that all the clients want - i have worked on projects
making as much as 300k - just to convert an existing website into CMS.

Some clients have seen what cms is about, and they just want it. Of course, as a developer, it is good to be versatile and be
able to use everything - from notepad to dreamweaver to cms, so that every project you have, you will put the right touches.

i_want_to:

I personally don't like the idea of a developer using CMS like Joomla, Wordpress and co. My reason is, it kills the industry and produces a lot of look alike websites.

You can change the look and feel, or even tweak things around the CMS, but from a quick look, somebody can easily tell it is similar to another.

I will rather we start building real web applications because that is what will get the name of the country on the development market. We can also build our own CMS platform is we are serious about leading the Africa web development market.
Now, i will say this one. As a developer that can code, i was able to make a plugin like this https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-652050.0.html#msg8179262 and integrate it into cmses like drupal, and any other one.

Now, if i do stuffs like that, it makes my work flow faster and others can use it easily. Dont forget that using CMS has levels.
As for me now, i get really big contracts converting existing websites into CMS. The concept is that, at a developer level, i can do
customized themes and customize almost everything to look exactly as i want or as the client wants.

And using cms, i do this in a very short time too. It is not the principle that i am bothered with, it is the money and the time it takes me to deliver
my jobs.
It is those that dont know how to customize or build there own modules and customize others that produce look-a-likes.

I have done 3 different types of school portals with CMSes, and they all look different. With my own version of ajaxified tabs and other plugins
i have done, it gives my work a different look and feel.

Of course, i use community features when it is convenient. But one thing is that, i NEVER EVER use themes downloaded online. I build my themes
from the scratch and convert them into the cms themes.

Can you tell for instance that my website - www..net - is made with joomla + drupal cms at the same time?
Some sections are drupal and some are joomla, and yet, the template does not change, only the linking patterns which i intentionally left like that
just to prove my point.

Once you are logged in, you stay logged in. . .even if you move from the joomla to the drupal side. Not everyone can pull these stunts easily - you must be a CMS Developer to do stuffs like that.

*dhtml:

Lo siento, i have an quite a staggering amount of such websites:
in fact i can categorize them into things like:
- hospitals
- schools
- hotels
- marketing
- stock exchange
- web development
- showbiz
- banking

and several others that i have done over time. . . . .using joomla/drupal/custom cms

A good example is www.tejubabyfaceshow.com which i did with drupal
And i quote myself again (the myself before i was banned again), for the school portal, you can check out
a thread i just made where i featured one of my new dynamic ogbonge plugins - that i call datagrid -

Webmasters / Dhtml Datagrid Control :: Jquery Integration :: Cms Support by dhtml3(m): 5:59am On Apr 22, 2011
This is an excerpt from a school portal i worked on. I needed some kinda grid to allow publishing
of results by teachers and co. . .
Just thought it would make an interesting post.

Features:
1. It allows you to define the columns and the rows
2. It autoassigns ID for them in an easily themeable manner. i.e if i were to display a 100/1000 grid,
i can predict the IDs of the various textboxes.
3. It allows moving from one editable field to another by using your arrow keys.
4. In this demo, you can actually submit
5. You can control the number of digits allowed by some fields e.g. 2 digits were used here
6. Crossbrowser compatibility
7. Supports Jquery validation
8. Integrates with drupal cck / views
9. Can be used in standalone format
10. And several others. . .

@yewa-tide - i dont think mr dumbhtml knows what he is talking about,

@dhtml - the only way the <address> thing can work is if ; its a <div id="address"> with coresponding css or <div class="address"> with coresponding css

Html has no element <address>
go and learn html, and then come back to talk to me. I am light years ahead of you in this.

I dont expect newbies to know things like this. But the main tags i am talking about here - in my quiz is the header tags.
That they have css stuffs attached to them. And there is still an address tag last time i heard.

Because some tags such as dd/dt/blockquote and many others are not commonly used like that does not mean they dont
exist.

As at the time i learnt html, there was an address tag. Maybe you are not aware.

But please, execute this in your browsers:

<address>My address is</address>
It works in browsers, and you can check this out - http://www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_address.asp
or just search for html address tag.

Muhahahaha, i dont call myself DHTML for nothing!

Webmasters / Re: My First Css Quiz / Convert This Css Into Html! by dhtml3(m): 9:33pm On Apr 21, 2011
My last post was swallowed by spam bot and it bounced me.

To find out the properties of the formating tag, please
use them in an html page with no styles, then use the mozilla
firebug to investigate checking the computed attributes.

There are times when you need to do something like this
Click on this link [a href='yahoo']yahoo dot com[/a] to continue
And you want the link to have same attributes as that h1, are you going to use trial and error
to guess the size? just inspect them.

That is one instance, i will stop here before them bannnn me again for the gazillionth time. . .

It is sometimes a good idea to have backup accounts in case you get banned without warning!

Webmasters / Dhtml: How To Make Backup Of A Thread On Nairaland by dhtml3(m): 12:53am On Nov 12, 2010
In light of present and past events, one thing i find rather frustrating alot on nairaland, even more annoying than my numerous bans is missing posts.
I mean, i spend a long time to compose some threads, replies and others. Only for it to just be deleted by spam bot, moderators or by viruses living on my laptop or by google adsense. . .whatever
There was this script i wrote sometime back that was able to save a thread on nairaland (any thread) and it will save all the pages on the thread as well.
Now, i was wondering if i should release this script as open source, complete it, and allow others to use it - in case they find it useful?

caramba! i ave forgotten how i did it. Please answer the quiz. All i remember was that it can be done with either flash cs4 or flex builder 3 and above
pc guru:

Let me try though am not too good AS3

create a URLRequest and a URL Loader, then create an addEventListener and catch event target and bla bla, well i tried with theory will give it a try
Where are you catching the event from? well, this one i did, there is no scripting required at all. The real question is - how do you embed an iframe into flash

It happened while i was trying to post something about how to protect yourself from being hackked to pieces.

Webmasters / Dhtml-quiz: Embed The Home Page Of Nairaland Into A Flash Application by dhtml3(m): 10:57pm On Nov 11, 2010
I hope the question is clear eh? Remember, you can use any plugin or any flash development application you like to do this. For starters, whatever you do must be able to embed the frontpage of nairaland into a flash animation, and allow browsing of the website within it.

thanks, but seriously, i work as a web and programming consultant - because my real strength lies more with software programming while website development is second place - but i have contradicted that because most of my work are web-based rather than software based, but now, i am presently more into software development and less of web development
