Education / Have You Ever Been Sexually Harrassed By A Teacher? by diamondleon: 5:48pm On Aug 24, 2016
It is no longer news what happens in our institutions when we mention the word sexual harassment. Even a student in secondary school can say a lot based on what he has heard concerning the scourge and its persistent rise just like inflation in our institutions.

Three days ago, The Delta State University sacked six of her lecturers who were tried and found guilty of sexual harassment issues which female students of the institution were their main target. It was shame for them and their families that they would be dismissed in such a degrading way. Though many o them are still out there in our campuses, making life difficult for students who refused to dance to their tune of immorality.

An incident happened some time ago in Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike which led to the indefinite suspension of a lecturer who students knew as a sadist when it comes to the course, Money and Banking. He wanted to eat from the sacred table of another man's holiness and even after attempts of dialogue from the now husband of that lady, this lecturer still refused to let her go with taking her to bed. He was set up and caught in a hotel, unclothed with the lady.

Many ladies are victims of this harassment yet some ladies give themselves freely to this menace that has decayed the once adorable fabrics of our higher institutions. Guys are not left out because l have heard of cases though rare where female lecturers also wanted it with male students. This act has also dragged down to our secondary schools.

It has to stop, we have to maintain our stand on discipline and we can begin and end to this injustice when we as students start focusing on our education, dressing morally and decently and not giving ourselves cheaply to those waiting lecturers.

Have you or someone you know been a victim of sexual assault, lets hear how you/they handled it.

Education / Two Guys Throws Punch Over A Mouau Girl. by diamondleon: 7:45pm On Aug 02, 2016
Yesterday evening didn't end well for some students in a yet unnamed lodge which is a small one located at Umugbalu, Oboro within the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike axis. It was a case of diverted personal investment. Still sounds strange right?

Some students who were still in the lodge were provoked to anger when a lover came to the lodge and caught his supposed girlfriend in the room of another guy who is also a friend to the guy. Hell was let loose.

It wasn't a small fight and campus punch gathered that the guy who came to fight was even the "side guy" and the one she was caught with happens to be the "main guy." It took other students time and efforts to calm the situation and l ask, what will a lady want with two friends?

The lady in question couldn't stand the scene and had to run when the rift became intense and left two men embarrassing themselves over her. We didn't see blood but we noticed swellings and cursing, threats and counter threats.

Guys, have you caught your supposed girlfriend cheating on you red handed, ladies, how about you?

Education / OAU - Who Is Behind This HOAX Whatsapp Viral Message by diamondleon: 4:43pm On Jul 02, 2016
Hoaxes. They're everywhere, spreading false and misleading information, and scrapping the last thin veneers of sanity from the naive and gullible. Our internet age has made the spread of false rumours even more faster. WhatsApp especially has been running rife with some of them. I'll be examining the ones directed towards the Obafemi Awolowo University, and their telltale signs and errors.

Here's one example:

OBAFEMI AWOLOWO UNIVERSITY ILE IFE
Office of the vice chancellor
It is no more a rumour that the NASU workers of the university has been dissolved by its national body, due to their improper self confidence of taking laws into their hands against the management and most especially the vice chancellor.
Nevertheless, as the newly elected vice chancellor of this great citadel of learning, i need to make a quick decision to nullify or erase any form of protest organised by this resistant workers.
In a bid to make things go as planned. A meeting was held today and the outcome of this meeting seems to be pleasing as the top officials of Nasu have agreed to urge their members to go back to work and promote peace , provide support for the new vc of the university.
The new resumption date will be communicated in due course.

Prof. Adebayo salami
Vice chancellor.

HOAX POINTERS
-
1-Heading : In no Authentic official circular that proceeds from even so low as the office of the Hall Warden of hostels, can its heading/subject be absent. Even more so, from such a one as a newly (and controversially) elected Vice Chancellor, he wouldn't just be typing messages, would he? No.

2-First line : "It is no more rumour that the NASU..."

To begin with, this kind of opening has become seriously Hackneyed, and is hardly suitable for a VC's expected grandiose. And, then "NASU".... Jeez.... Abbreviations are not permitted in official circulars! Makes it sound like something a Chelsea fan would call Manchester United in an argument..." Man U "....
If you're still doubting that this is no more true than WhatsApp banter, wait for the shockers.

3- Second Paragraph, second sentence begins with the personal pronoun 'I'. Problem is, it's in the lower case. What the heck!

4- Third paragraph, first sentence ends with a full stop. Primary school level error.

5&6- "Nasu" and "vc". Need I say more?

7- Now here's the kicker. What is the first name of the new Vice Chancellor of the Obafemi Awolowo University? Ayobami.... Who in seven hells is Adebayo Salam
