Fashion / Hair Regimen For Faster Hair Growth by DiaryOfThatGirl(f): 10:41pm On Aug 28, 2018
How are you and your hair doing? So today we are going to be talking about my hair regimen for faster hair growth.

I will be breaking it down into a daily, weekly and monthly plan.

DAILY

Moisturize and seal is probably the simplest and yet effective method. All you have to do is follow the LOC/LCO method which we discussed here

Another thing is scalp massages. I don't do this everyday though. I do it about 2 to 3 times per week and lemme just say here that it works wonders for your hair health and length. We will discuss that in another post.

WEEKLY

On a weekly basis I like to give my hair a cowash and deep condition. However this is largely based on what I feel my hair needs at that time.
If my hair is in a protective style and a bit itchy I usually use baby wipes to clean in between the tracks of the braids. Have you tried this before?
Fortnightly I have my full on wash day. I can't go into the deets of my wash day now so that this post doesn't get too long but I promise I will write another post on my wash day routine.

MONTHLY

Monthly I try to do a hair mask. This is also dependent on my hair needs at the moment. But I've been itching to do a henna mask since forever. When I get around to doing it you will be the first to know.

Every 5 to 6 months, I get a texlax touch up. By this time I usually have enough new growth to be texlaxed.

So beauties. That's my basic hair regimen. If you need me to create a custom hair regimen for you with suggested products, leave a comment down below.

Thanks for staying to the end. Do come back for my next posts. Please support me by following and subscribing to the blog. TIA!

Business / Practical Tips On How To Save Money by DiaryOfThatGirl(f): 8:21am On Aug 04, 2018
Welcome back to my blog. Happy new August. May bank credit alerts drain your phone battery!

So, savings huh! Saving is a very delicate topic. In fact, money matters are usually very touchy topics.

The thing with saving is everybody is on a different financial level. You can't put an exact price to it but you can make it work with great effort.

Alright so first off, have a savings goal. I mean have something you're working towards that encourages you. Do you want to get a new house, car, a dream wedding, that stunning dress? Or any other thing. Have a goal.
Or maybe you're in a comfort zone right now and things are looking alright for you. You just might want to save so that you know that you've got stuff covered. So in this case you might set a goal to achieve maybe at the end of the year or the end of the quarter.
Now that you have a goal, make sure its realistic. Depending on your salary or pocket money if you're a student, you might have different percentage goals. I mean 10% of 200,000 and 10% of 2,000 isn't the same.
If you're trying to save and you're not exactly saving money you have nothing to do with, then you might want to review your expenses.
This is where you distinguish needs from wants.
Do you really need that extra pair of shoes when you already have 15pairs? Do you really need that extra set of jewellery when you have others collecting dust on your dressing table. Cut down on those extras darlings. You don't need it.
Next up is creating a budget. A budget is simply an outline of your money. It says where each penny and kobo should go. Now I know this might be hard to stick to but you just have to try.
Another tip on saving is saving before spending. Let me explain. If you have N5,000 and you want to save N1000, keep it aside. Don't go shopping with N5000 and expect to leave 1k.
Also on the shopping matter, avoid impulse buying. If you set out to get yourself basic toiletries, don't end up buying a cutlery set. Stick to the plan!
If you want to get a bank account just for saving, even better.
Determine in your heart that you wouldn't spend that money and better still don't get an ATM card for that account.
Next is buying things in bulk. If buy from wholesale stores you would be doing yourself a wealth of good. For example, a carton of indomie costs N2900. If you were to buy that singly it would cost you N3200. Now that might seem small to you. But calculate that over the number of years you've been buying indomie. You see?
Another tip for saving money is cooking your meals. Cooking in bulk and proper meal planning will save you money. Please learn to cook and prep your meals at home.
If you have not been saving, its never too late. Better late than never. It might be difficult at first but I can assure you that your hardwork will pay off.
If you've been on the saving gang for a while, kudos to you. Please keep it up.

Do stick around for my next post. And read up anyone you've missed

Fashion / How I Started My Hair Journey by DiaryOfThatGirl(f): 8:13am On Aug 03, 2018
Hey lovelies!!

So you know this natural hair thing has been trending for some time now yeah? Pause. Let me take you back in time.

I was rocking my natural hair for the early parts of my life. Until one year when i got tired of making my hair, I mean, would you blame me?

My mother wasn't very good at weaving my hair for school and i had to go to one old woman to be making my hair for me. I would sit on one small wooden stool while she held my head in between her laps. Let's not forget all the tugging because my hair was hard like firewood. It was not a good experience one bit. Talk about beauty is pain.

So one day I got fed up and told my mum I wanted to cut my hair and she agreed. I was VERY happy. No more traumatizing weaving hair moments.

Then after a few years I decided to grow out my hair again and this time it had to be relaxed. So I did and then enjoyed the bliss of straight hair.

Then #teamnatural started. Of course i was more than happy to join the team when i saw those big happy fros so I stopped relaxing my hair. I was planning to do a transition not big chop. Remember my hair being like firewood?? Yep.

When i wanted to comb my hair, the pain was out of this world. Like i literally shed a tear or two while combing. I mean i was moisturizing and sealing or so i thought. Let me just say i didnt have money to buy all them leave in conditioners and deep conditioners. I was still happily in the petals shampoo and soulmate cream gang.

So after 9 months of torture, with Jesus joy in my heart i relaxed my hair. My hair refused to straighten even with the relaxer in super strength. Anyhoo, after many more relaxer episodes, I finally had my straight hair back. Looking back I realize I probably had the wrong techniques and the wrong products.

But I knew I didn't like the flat pressed down look on my hair after every time i got a relaxer touch up. So i was never quite 100% satisfied. But it was definitely better than the hard hair. It didn't need any special products to get in shape and I was pleased. I even managed to attain hair beyond shoulder length and everyone complimented me on the length of my hair.

I mean, for a Nigerian to have hair beyond shoulder length with all the wrong hair practices and ever-so-tight braids and weaves, you had "achieved". I stayed this way for years though...

Stick around to read up the concluding part
