A father says his baby learned to stand at eight-weeks old, after being inspired by seeing him watch strongman clips on YouTube.

Tezra Finn-Johnston, 31, and girlfriend Emily Derrick, 23, who live in Kingswood, Bristol, first noticed their daughter’s strength when they left hospital.

The couple claim at that early stage she was able to support her own head.

She was born on January 31 and weighed just 5lbs 9oz and was on the 5th percentile – weighing less than five per cent of other babies her age.

At least three American mothers and six children from a Mormon family that live in the Mexican border state of Sonora have been killed in a shooting attack Monday.

Seventeen family members from the LeBaron and Langford families were heading to a wedding in a three-car caravan Monday from La Mora – a decades-old settlement founded as part of an offshoot of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Rhonita Maria LeBaron died along with her twin 6-month-old babies, Titus and Tiana, and her two other children Krystal, 10, and Howard, 12, when drug cartel gunmen opened fire on their van, hitting the gas tank and causing an explosion, relatives say.

Christina Langford Johnson, 31, Dawna Ray Langford, 43, and two of Dawna’s children, Trevor, 11, and Rogan, 3, were also killed in other SUVs.

Apple’s iPhone 11 is being shipped today. The company’s new iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max come with a wide range of upgrades, with the Pro and Pro Max having significantly higher battery life. The company later introduced new software features, and new hardware features with the iPhone 8/8+ and iPhone X to help against battery ageing.

And now, on the iPhone 11 line, Apple is introducing a new performance management system. According to the company (via 9to5Mac), the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max feature a new hardware and software system that will help dynamically reduce performance impacts as your battery ages. The new system is apparently automatic and always-on. The system dynamically monitors the power needs on the iPhone 11 devices and manages the performance in real-time to help reduce the performance impacts from battery ageing in the longer run.

Apple says this new system is “more advanced” than previous iPhone battery and power management systems. The company still warns against the obvious impacts of battery ageing on performance in the longer run, though. “While performance impacts are reduced as much as possible, battery aging might still eventually lead to noticeable, possibly temporary, effects,” the company said.

A young girl has been arrested after stealing the panties of her boss’ child, just 2 days after resuming work in Surulere, Lagos.

The suspect, who was planted by a recruiter, confessed that she was instructed by the man to steal panties and that she would be compensated after the operation.

Luck, however, ran out on her, today, after stealing the pant and was on her way to deliver it. Immediately after her arrest, the man – who brought her and collected the sum of N16,000 from her boss – switched off his phone and left her to her fate.

Former Newcastle academy coach Peter Beardsley has been banned from all football-related activity for 32 weeks after being found guilty of using racist and abusive language by an Independent Regulatory Commission.

The FA charged Beardsley with three “aggravated breaches” of FA Rule E3, which regards the use of racist and abusive language towards Newcastle U23 players during his time as their coach.

Beardsley left the role in March following a 14-month internal investigation after a complaint was made by midfielder Yasin Ben El-Mhanni, who left the club in January 2018.

All three breaches were denied by Beardsley but subsequently found proven based upon the results and findings of Newcastle United disciplinary proceedings.

Beardsley has been ordered to complete a face-to-face education course as well as serve the eight-month ban until April 29, 2020.

The Presidency has dismissed claims that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo had been sidelined following President Muhammadu Buhari’s inauguration of an Economic Advisory Team (EAC) to replace the Economic Management Team (EMT).

While the EMT was headed by Osinbajo, the newly constituted EAC will report directly to President Buhari.

Speaking as a guest on Channels TV’s Politics Today, on Wednesday, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, said all that the president had done particularly this week was just to “Tweak governance and get the best for Nigerians”.

He also maintained that the presidency remains one and that there’s been too much suspicion and different kinds of inferences which he believes are only aimed at driving a wedge between both the President and the Vice President.

“The Vice President is the number two man in the country. The new economic advisory body can also relate with the Vice President as necessary.

“It’s just some Nigerians who want to drive a wedge between the President and the VP, that read meanings into everything and insinuate but there’s no need for that,”

A suspected member of the gang involved in the killing of young girls in Rivers State have been arrested by the police after attempting to strangle a young girl at a hotel in Mile 4 area of Port Harcourt.

The arrested suspect reportedly struck around 2am when the young lady was sleeping before she raised an alarm. The man reportedly got violent when she started shouting, leading to a struggle as she tried opening the door.

“The woman went into the hotel on the man’s invitation and when she slept off, the man tried to killed her with a pillow. She was lucky to have woken up as the man tried to pin her down.

“The woman immediately shouted for help and the people in the hotel called the police, who raced to the scene and forced the door open. The police eventually rescued the woman and arrested the man”

A source told Punch.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Mustapha Dandaura who confirmed the arrest said the police are already investigating the incident. Rivers state Police spokesperson, Mr Nnamdi Omoni said the arrested suspect has been moved to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department as preliminary investigation revealed he is an indigene of Akwa Ibom state.

He said,

“The young woman escaped, because she was able to raise the alarm around 2am. She was sleeping and suddenly woke up to see the man, who brought her to the hotel, charging at her.

“The man tried to strangle her and he was arrested by our men. He is from Akwa Ibom and is a builder. He told us that he was a school dropout. The people in the hotel called the police, who rushed to the place, rescued the young woman and arrested the man.”

A SARS operative is lucky to be alive after a boy he was trying to wrongfully arrest, technically knocked him out.

The incident happened, today, at Abule Oja, off #Unilag road, Lagos. The officer had accosted the boy because he had dreadlocks and was harassing him.

However, when he continued, the victim rained numerous heavy blows on his head, making him fall down but didn’t die.

His colleagues however gave the boy a hot chase, but he outran them.

The first batch of Nigerians is set to return home from South Africa following the xenophobic outrage in that country.

The Consul General of Nigeria in Johannesburg, Godwin Adama, has said that the first batch of the Nigerian returnees from South Africa would depart South Africa for Lagos on Wednesday.

Mr Adama told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in a telephone interview that the first batch of returnees, are expected to depart South Africa by 9:00 a.m Wednesday.

The consul general also disclosed that Air peace had indicated interest to evacuate over 600 Nigerians that were willing to return home following the latest xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

“The first flight leaves by 09:00 hours this Wednesday with about 320 passengers and the second batch will leave on Thursday all things being equal.

“We have over 600 who had indicated interest. All things being equal, without any hitches, the plane will take off by 09:00 hours this Wednesday.

“The manifest for the first flight is ready, and we are working on the next flight,” he said.

President Muhammadu Buhari had on Monday called for the immediate evacuation of Nigerians willing to return home from South Africa following the latest attacks on Nigerians and other African nationals.

Buhari gave the directive when he received a report of the special envoy to South Africa, the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Abubakar.


News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the chairman of Air Peace Mr Allen Onyema, had last week volunteered to send aircraft to evacuate Nigerians who wished to return home for free.

“Air Peace is willing to support the Nigerian Government’s efforts in this matter by deploying our B777 aircraft to evacuate Nigerians back home,” Onyema said.

Mr Oyema advised the returnees against making payment to anyone for their flights to Lagos.

Onyema urged the returning Nigerians to be wary of unauthorised persons, reportedly collecting $1,000 from them, adding that none of them should pay for the flights.

He said, his airline is particularly concerned about the safety of Nigerians in South Africans following the attacks.

“We have not designated or recruited any agent in South Africa to collect money on behalf of Air Peace.

“So, nobody should pay money to anyone or group of persons posing as Air Peace agent or staff.

“Any Nigerian who has paid money for repatriation to Nigeria with Air Peace should request for a refund and report to appropriate authorities,” he said.

The Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, had also pledged the Federal Government’s support to any Nigerian that wanted to return home.

Mrs. Dabiri-Erewa said this after a closed-door meeting with the Senate Committee on Diaspora and Non-Governmental Organisations in Abuja.

She said that the returnees would be encouraged to enroll and participate in the various social intervention programmes of the government.

“We will encourage them to enroll in small scale entrepreneurial programmes with the Bank of Industry under the social investment programme. So, there are things that they can do’’, she said.

Nigerian Soldiers Killed Police Officers And Set Me Free — Kidnapper, Wadume Confesses

Hamisu Wadume, a suspected kidnap kingpin in Taraba State, has implicated Nigerian soldiers in his deadly escape two weeks ago.

Mr Wadume was re-arrested on Monday night and taken to the Force Headquarters on Tuesday afternoon, where he had been making statements to the police.

The suspect was first arrested on August 6 by a team of anti-crime police officers in Taraba. He was being taken to Jalingo, the state capital, when soldiers manning a checkpoint opened fire on the police team, killing three officers and a civilian.

An expansive investigation has been launched to unravel the culprits behind the violence, amidst claims that soldiers of 93 Batallion and top local police officers had connived to thwart Mr Wadume’s arrest.

At a short appearance before police camera on Tuesday afternoon, Mr Wadume corroborated police’s suspicion that Nigerian Army personnel were involved in the conspiracy that led to the killing of four persons and wounding of others.

He said he was arrested in Ibi, Taraba State, but “on our way out of Ibi, some soldiers open fire on the vehicle I was being transported in and killed some police officers, “ he said.

“The soldiers then took me to their headquarters and cut off the handcuff from my hands and set me free.

“I have been hiding since then until now that the police arrested me again,” he said.

Mr Wadume was arrested in Kano State, police said.

Inspector-General Muhammad Adamu said the arrest would potentially lead to the smashing of other kidnap rings across Nigeria.

The police confirmation came hours after broke the news that Mr Wadume had been arrested and taken to the Force Headquarters for interrogation.

A spokesperson for the Nigerian Army, Sagir Musa, did not immediately return requests seeking comments about Mr Wadume’s implication of soldiers.

Although the Nigerian Army confirmed soldiers were responsible for the attack on the police team, it denied that it was deliberate, blaming it on a communication gap that was largely avoidable.

The Federal Government has said no date has been announced for the exit of the first batch of volunteers enrolled under its Social Investment Programme, N-Power.

Barely 24 hours after releasing him, the Department of State Services on Wednesday arrested a former Politics Editor with Daily Trust, Ibrahim Dan-Halilu, in Kaduna State, according to a report by Punch.

Dan-Halilu was arrested on Sunday for supporting the ‘Revolution Now’ movement led by Sahara Reporters publisher, Omoyele Sowore.

The Trump administration has frozen all Venezuelan government assets in a significant escalation of tensions with socialist leader Nicolás Maduro.

It places Washington’s trade relations with the South American country on a par with Cuba, Syria, Iran and North Korea.

The ban on Americans doing business with Venezuela’s government takes effect immediately.

“All property and interests in property of the Government of Venezuela that are in the United States … are blocked and may not be transferred, paid, exported, withdrawn, or otherwise dealt in,” the executive order says.

A family in the Ikorodu area of Lagos state has been thrown into mourning after one of their sons, Yusuf Isiaka, was stabbed to death by his friend, Segun Banji, over a ram betting at the Oke Oko in Isawo, Ikorodu on Sunday August 4th.

According to reports, Banji, who resides at Number 15, Araromi Street, Oke Oko had a N500 bet with Isiaka on ram fighting. Both men bought rams ahead of the Muslim festival this Sunday August 11th.

They agreed that they would allow their rams engage in a fight and anyone of the rams that loses in the fight, the owner will pay N500 to the other party.
