SPAIN vs. ARGENTINA: World Cup /Finalissima Final

As a die-hard Barcelona fan and a Messi fangirl since 2015, here are my reasons why I believe Argentina will win the title.

1. ATTACK

It is quite obvious that Spain doesn’t have the best attack in the tournament. Oyarzabal, the primary number nine in the Spain squad, only has five goals making Jude Bellingham, a midfielder with 6 goals, a better scorer than him. Oyarzabal scored his last goal in the Round of 32 against Austria in open play, registering zero goals against Portugal and Belgium, Scoring only a penalty against France. In those matches, he simply couldn't convert. Yamal, Cucurella, and Olmo created plenty of chances by dropping passes into the middle of the 18-yard box for him to tap in, but he was nowhere to be found. Give Lautaro Martínez those exact same chances, and he’ll score a hat-trick.

2. FAMILIARITY

A large chunk of Spain’s players come from F.C. Barcelona, just as a notable portion of Argentina's squad plays for Atlético Madrid. Messi himself has confirmed that he knows a lot of the Spanish players from his time in Barcelona, including those coming up through the La Masia Academy.

Furthermore, last season Atlético Madrid was a massive headache for Barcelona across all competitions. They knocked Barça out of both the Copa del Rey semi-finals and the Champions League quarter-finals. Those high-stakes matches featured several of these crucial Argentinian players who managed to disrupt F.C. Barcelona's rhythm. Also, note that Diego Simeone could easily pass a few tactical ideas to Lionel Scaloni, as he has been spotted in the stands during Argentina's matches.

3. PRESSURE

One thing I can tell you about teams that play possession football (speaking as a Barça fan) is that they do not handle intense, physical pressure well. It is no wonder teams like Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, and Atlético Madrid have historically been so good at beating Barcelona.

In this tournament, Argentina has proven they excel under pressure. They stay calm and confident, even when trailing. Mark my words: if Spain concedes first, their entire game plan will crumble, and they will lose. That is a fact.

I don't even need to write much here; this aspect is self-explanatory. A team with three consecutive comeback wins clearly doesn't fear anyone they have seen it all. While Spain struggled to put away Cape Verde, Argentina secured the win in extra time strictly because of their tournament experience.

5. PENALTIES

Spain has one of the poorest penalty shootout records in modern football history, while Argentina has arguably the best, especially in major tournaments. If this game goes to a penalty shootout, Spain is destined to lose.

6. THE MESSI FACTOR

Lionel Messi The Greatest Football of all ages, century and time. (I don't need to write anything here, figure it out yourself!)


At the end of the day, it’s a win-win for the F.C. Barcelona fan base. May the best and most determined team win the trophy.
