When was your son interviewed last year?
Were all the documents required for his visa application complete? If yes, send the embassy an email to ask for an update.
Also, those who interviewed this year and have been given visas are probably Blue Card holders.

Hi everyone,
I would like to know if anyone has applied for a study visa with a dependent, a minor precisely. I would like to know how long the visa processing took after the interview.

I interviewed since last year and I’ve been waiting for my AM for months. If I make enquiries, they reply that it’s still being processed but I have seen several people get their visa, even people who were interviewed this year.

My block account is fully funded for my son and I and my husband is in Germany also. I want to know if anyone have had similar issue or know anyone who must have had similar issue.

Please help a sister!

I went to the embassy to submit all the copy of the emails I was sent to show that the A1 had initially being waived for me

I went to Goethe institut to register for the A1 exam which I was told to do online although the lady helped me create a profile which is required before registering online. After the profile was created, I was told to go and make payment by 9:15am. When it was time, I made a transfer from my bank app, which was reversed. I had to go to bank to do a physical transfer, while I was about filling the slip, I got an email thinking it was from the Goethe institut but to the Glory of God it was from the embassy saying;
Dear Madam,
With regard to your visa application, we kindly request that you submit the following documents to the Consulate:
* Your Nigerian passport
* Proof of incoming insurance that covers your stay in Germany for 90 days or statutory health insurance or private health insurance.
I was so so happy, I can’t even describe how I felt that day but I really thank God.

My husband immediately got incoming insurance from ‘Allianz’ for me.

It doesnt matter. The passport i used to book the appointment had my maiden name. At the time of the interview, i went with my new passport bearing my new surname. There were no issues at all

The waiting period is almost 2 years now i think.

If i may ask please, did you wait for an appointment date like in the case of family reunification or your school expedited your visa application?

I’ll be leaving for Germany in some weeks for my masters. I’ll be getting married at the end of the year. Does it make sense for my fiancée to apply for an appointment date for a family reunion visa now?

His Dad should write a consent letter stating that he is the father of the boy and approves of him joining you, his mother in Germany.

He should also attach his passport data page to the letter.

Normally, he is supposed to join your son for the interview (it's written on the checklist that the parent in Nigeria should come with the child/ren for the child's interview).

The letter which should contain his email address and phone number is usually the option if the father or mother cannot appear with the child for the interview.

I just received an invitation for my sons family reunion visa today. I applied May 12th, 2023. his interview is for 27th of March, 2025.

Secondly, i am a single parent (never married) studying here in Germany. Please is there anyone here that can provide advice on how his dad who is cooperative to help our son come here with required documentation and interview preparation. I would really appreciate it.

I have asked this question before, but I was ignored.

About the insurance the spouse in Germany is supposed to submit to ABH, is it their existing health insurance or they are to make a fresh health insurance for them and the incoming family?

I'll be writing another one next month.
The ABH have also sent a letter to my spouse to submit documents. Deadline for submission for both of us is April.

I also recall seeing 2 or 3 people who recommended AXA Mansard 3 months travel insurance in older posts.

AXA Mansard won't refund you o. Something similar happened to me last year and I sent them an email explaining that I made a mistake but I was never refunded. They didn't even respond to my email.

It's a health insurance that covers long term stay. The normal AXA Mansard travel insurance of less than 30k doesn't cover long stay. I wasted my time and money buying travel insurance from AXA mansard only for it to be rejected due to lack of information. You know what? Some people come on here and say they bought travel insurance(instead of saying incoming insurance)just to deceive people so that other people too can make the same mistake and waste money like I did.
It is bought online from any internationally recognised insurance company in Germany. Your spouse buys it. Mine was from Allianz insurance.
I didn't get this information firsthand. After the AXA mansard travel insurance was rejected by the embassy, the embassy sent me an email the next day describing what an incoming insurance was. AXA mansard never refunds an insurance bought in error. Na so my money take loss. I no see who give me right information. But I remember vividly asking someone on this thread
about insurance, the person recommended AXA mansard for me , that that was what he used.Na so I take waka loss go waste money. World people.

Nov 20th 2021-- Booked appointment

Nov 8th 2022 --Goethe A1 exam

Jan 5th 2023. -- Interview

Silence for 8 months despite series of calls and emails from me, my spouse and our immigrations lawyer in Germany searching for my lawyer for verification.

22th Oct 2023 -- Lawyer visited for verification

Jan 3rd 2024 -- My spouse contacted ABH for status update but we were told my sacharbeiter(person in charge of my file) was on vacation and will resume the next week which was on Jan 8th 2024.
We decided to give him two weeks space.

Jan 22nd 2024 --We called ABH and they said they sent a request to the German embassy in Nigeria and that they were waiting for their (German embassy Lagos)response.(I didn't know what the request was about.)

Feb 6th 2024 -- We e-mailed the German embassy Lagos requesting for an update but we were warned to refrain from further enquires regarding the status of the matter. At this point I was defeated and frustrated.

Feb 10th 2024-- We emailed the Burger meister's office of my spouse' city because at this point we were frustrated. We were advised to be patient that the process was ongoing.
My lawyer kept sending emails to the embassy and ABH yet there was no response.

Apr 25th 2024 -- We e-mailed the ABH requesting for status update and the ABH responded that they were still waiting for the response from the embassy as regards the request they(ABH) sent to the German embassy in Nigeria. My lawyer requested to know what the request was but they never disclosed it.

July 3rd 2024 -- The embassy decided to wake up from its slumber by inviting my spouse and I for a second interview. ( The was the REQUEST the ABH sent to them since January 2024 but there was a delay in contacting me and arranging for the interview because according to them(embassy) ,they misplaced my file . Our interviews was place at the time. Mine at the embassy in Lagos,his in his city.

July 9th 2024 -- Second interview for me and my spouse. During the interview I submitted my passport.

July 17th 2024 -- lawyer e-mailed the embassy asking for update.

Aug 21st 2024 -- Embassy responded saying that they appreciate my patience during the process and that they know waiting for my visa decision can be stressful but that I should be rest assured that my visa application is still under review and I will be notified immediately once a decision has been made.

Aug 27th 2024 -- embassy requested for my passport,6months incoming insurance, travel date, prepaid courier envelope and updated A1 certificate (the first one I submitted was expired). I was given a deadline of October 5th 2024.

Aug 27th 2024 -- I emailed them , telling them that they were with my international passport which I submitted to them during the second interview and that I ll be needing the passport to sit for the next A1 exam which was scheduled for Sept 27th 2024. I also told them to please extend the deadline because it will take about a month before the Goethe A1 certificate will be ready, which will go against the deadline. To this they agreed and gave me another deadline of November 15th 2024.

Sept 26th 2024 -- Picked up my international passport from the embassy in person in order to write my exam.

Sept 27th 2024 -- Goethe A1 exam .

Oct 24th 2024 -- I submitted an updated Goethe A1 certificate, courier envelope, passport, travel insurance and travel date.

Oct 30th 2024 -- I received an email stating that I bought and submitted the wrong type of insurance. ( They needed an incoming insurance and not travel insurance).

Oct 30th 2024 -- I submitted the 3 months incoming insurance.

Nov 7th 2024 -- I received my passport with 3 months visa stamp.

Nov 11th 2024 -- I japa.

Omo the stress and frustration was premium.
Words fail me on how to quantify my frustration during that time. I never knew waiting was so hard not until my encounter with the embassy. With the German embassy ,no two situations or processes are the same. Never use another person's own process to compare yours. My own process lasted over 2yrs and 11 months. It was 9 days short 3 years.

The email stated "up to date A1 certificate". I was also given a deadline to submit a fresh one. The next exam for A1 on the Goethe website is next month.

I was told via email last week to submit the A1 certificate. The one i submitted during the interview expired about a month ago.

I was sent an email on the 19th of December,2024 to submit some documents.
I’ve submitted them since on the 23rd of December, 2024 but nothing yet.

I don’t need verification as my spouse is a researcher in Germany.

How about you, any word from the embassy yet?

More Visa Alert especially for FR people. They seem to get visa and vanish. It doesn’t make sense when this platform has been helping you out. Least you can do is to give back by posting your timeline. You can peacefully vanish afterwards.

Seems we attended our interview around the same time. Any word from the embassy yet or has your verification been carried out?

I got my interview date 1st august, 2024 to come for the interview on the 26th of august 2024.

Go online from 12am. That's the only sure way to get an appointment. It's almost impossible to get one during the day.

I've not seen any recent update from anyone here talking about receiving their visa. Has the process slowed down so much or people are just not coming back to give updates after getting their visa 😁

I always assumed it was only spouses of Blue Card holders whose process was speedy (3 months)

I received BVA email that "At the immigration office (Ausländerbehörde) the processing of your visa application is completed. The Embassy has to make the final processing and decision". I received this on 14th Oct. Do i need to contact the Embassy?

I renewed my passpost with my new surname before my interview date. By the time of my interview, my old passport had even expired. So I took both passports to the embassy. I presented the old one at the gate as that was the one i used to book the appointment. Then i submitted the new one that had my new surname during the interview.

Hello Everyone! Please would there be an issue at if the Spouses still have different Last names; my Wifes‘s Last name hasnt been changed on the passport because it will alter the passport number and invariably delay the appointment.

For those who have had their interview but are not under the EU blue card but were not asked to pay for verification on the day of the interview, how soon after did the embassy send an email asking them to pay for verification? Also, did they have to go to the embassy to pay or the embassy sends an account number to transfer or something
