ok, What exactly is your weight and height before you become bulimic...I am really careful advising students on weight loss because the academic stress is enough to help you born off fat. That been said, you can comfortably loose weight with a budget of 5k. Have you tried eating more fruits and vegges and less eba? Now, cucumber is always in season, plus you can still eat fruits in season like mango and avocado. if ugu (pumpkin)leave is expensive, you can opt for spinach as in green vegetables, eat it with anything, rice, eba, etc but let the quantity be in small portions while you substitute with plenty fruits. plenty of garden eggs can make you feel full too. For a special tip from me....take lemon water mixed with tumeric every morning. mix it in a bottle in the mornings and sip as much as you can all day. lemon of N50 should be enough for 2 days drink, then tumeric of N100 can last for a whole month (you can even plant it in an old bucket). You can add ginger too. For more visit www.collettenatureblog.com.ng |

So you prefer them begging abi?? that is why i said something should be done to rehabilitate them..do you also encourage the kids stealing on the highway in the name of begging?? No one is supporting what the government is doing by neglecting the masses but let us do the right thing. the street begging is tooooooooomuch especially in PH! I do not enjoy when those 'foreign kids' drag my cloths and cuss me if i don't give them money, it is embarrassing. |
I was listening to the car Radio today while going to the office and the presenters were deliberating about street trading and begging. One of the presenters talked about how a woman that begs around Woji area in Port Harcourt got angry and started hitting on a car windscreen because the occupants refused to give her money! The above story is one of the many few beggar-nightmare stories that i have heard in recent times. I don't know about other states but in Port Harcourt, the rate of street begging and hawking is alarming. You see all sort of things on the high way, like children trying to hit you if you refuse to allow them clean your front windscreen. Another set is the beggars association group of G.R.A junction, where you see the same people begging you for money every day at the same spot for the past five years. Then we also see some group of Chadians and Niger women and children begging and cussing at you if you refuse to give them money( their men usually sit down and get these girls pregnant in a circle of incest just to continue the trade), and children hawking on the high way during school hours. Primary and secondary education is free in Rivers State (so I taught), I wonder why a child will be hawking water and all sort on the high way during school hours! The worse hit areas for child hawkers are Bori camp and Airforce bus stop, Infact, you can actually cook all your food at Airforce to Bori camp bus stop because they sell everything! Then the aggressive beggars stay at Rumuola and Waterlines area linking to Aba road. There is also the permanent beggars that has offices at G.R.A bus stop: the list is endless. Can the authorities kindly do something about this already, can these beggars be rehabilitated? can they be counseled to do something to help themselves even if it means selling fruits or anything around the market areas? I recently read about a physically challenged cobbler in Lagos who despite been crippled, was still able to go about his work passionately and was in turn blessed with a wheel chair from an NGO. Most of us heard about the beggar in Lagos that claims that he makes about N300,000 monthly from begging. Our children should be in school, especially during school hours, I understand that some of them are trying to help themselves and their families but it should be done in the right way and manner. they can sell in the markets safely and that should be after school hours. Children hawking on the high way is dangerous it is especially risky for the girl child to be hawking. The kids cleaning windscreen are the worse of them all, my cousins gold neckless was snatched from her neck by these kids and you need to see the way this child ran away before we could even shout! I really hope the state government, environmental sanitation people and relevant authorities will look into these and act fast because the state capital is gradually turning to a hub for all sorts of miscreants....visit www.collettenatureblog.com pics:web |
Do you wash your face squeaky clean? Then, you are washing it wrongly. When it comes to this seemingly simple task, there is one mistake we all make: over-washing. According to Barry Resnik, a Miami-based dermatologist and founder of Resnik Skin Institute, the biggest misconception people have about washing their face has to do with having "squeaky clean skin." This leads to the removal of all of the protective oils our sebaceous glands produce. "Yes, oil can be bad if we let it collect, clogging pores and messing up our awesome makeup," says Resnik. "However, it's there for a reason: to soften and protect our skin." "Our skin will replenish the oil, but the ongoing assault of washing will yield only reddened, irritated skin," says Resnik. "This will also make it harder for our repair processes to replace collagen and keep us looking good. Tired, irritated skin with lots of lines is not a great end point!" If you're wondering about the righttime to wash your face, Resnik says stick to cleansing at the beginning or end of the day. He also recommends using a light cleanser or soap, one that's free of synthetic detergents that can irritate sensitive skin. www.collettenatureblog.com |

An anaesthetist who trash talked her patient when she put him to sleep has been fined - after the patient recorded the whole operation on his smart phone. Tiffany M Ingham, who was working as an anaesthesiologist in Reston, Virginia, was caught making rude and defamatory comments when a patient left the phone recording. The man, who has been named only as DB in court according to his attorneys, had been worried about missing vital instructions after his colonoscopy procedure due to his recuperation - so he set his smartphone to record everything, which ended up including the rant. When DB played the audio back on the way home, he heard that the team performing his surgery had mocked him as soon as he went under. The court was told that the team also discussed avoiding him after surgery, recording a false diagnosis and advising an assistant to lie When DB was sedated, Ingham told him: "After five minutes of talking to you in pre-op, I wanted to punch you in the face and man you up a little bit." When an assistant mentioned a rash on DB Ingham commented not to touch it because they might get syphilis, and then joked that it was probably "tuberculosis in the penis". She also referred to him as a "r*****" for looking at the needle going into his arm when it made him feel queasy. Following his discovery, the man sued the practices for defamation and medical malpractice, and a jury in Fairfax County has ordered Ingham and her practice to pay him £318,000. Neither Ingham, who was working for the Aisthesis anesthesia practice in Bethesda, Maryland, nor the practice, could not be reached for comment, but the jury ruled that practice should pay £32,000 out of £127,000 in punitive damages awarded. www.collettenatureblog.com |

World first recipient of penile transplant is going to become a father very soon, at least by November because his partner is already four month gone. This was announced by the head of the surgical team, urologist Professor Andre van der Merwe at Stellenbosch University during a public lecture on Thursday in South Africa. The 21-year-old recipient recently informed the head of the university's Division of Urology his girlfriend was expecting. This, Van der Merwe told News24, confirms the surgery was a success and "the organ is functioning". The recipient, who lost his penis due to a botched circumcision, is still being monitored six months after the delicate nine-hour micro surgery was successfully completed at the Tygerberg Hospital in December last year. The man, whose identity is being kept secret, received his new penis from an organ donor in a nine-hour operation on 11 December at Tygerberg hospital in Cape Town. Van der Merwe said they had discussed beforehand questions such as “Can I have sexual intercourse?” and “Can I have children?” He added: “We’ve ticked all the boxes.” The man is still under observation as the team check for possible improvements to be made for future operations, which could take place as early as mid-August. more at www.collettenatureblog.com |
James Harrison, 78, is known as 'The Man with the Golden Arm' because for the past 60 years he has donated blood to about two million babies. Although he's been recognised as a hero and been given awards, James insists that there's one thing he's never done in more than 1,000 donations: "Never once have I watched the needle go in my arm. "I look at the ceiling or the nurses, maybe talk to them a bit, but never once have I watched the needle go in my arm. I can't stand the sight of blood, and I can't stand pain." James told CNN “In 1951, I had a chest operation where they removed a lung when I was 14. "When I came out of the operation, or a couple days after, my father was explaining what had happened. "He said I had [received] 13 units of blood and my life had been saved by unknown people. "He was a donor himself, so I said when I'm old enough; I'll become a blood donor." Jemma Falkenmire, of the Australian Red Cross Blood Service explains: "In Australia, up until about 1967, there were literally thousands of babies dying each year, doctors didn't know why, and it was awful." The deaths were as a result of rheusus disease, a condition where antibodies in a pregnant woman's blood destroy her baby's blood cells. But James' blood had an antibody in it which could save lives, doctors found, and may be traced back to his transfusions decades ago. In the 1960s he teamed up with doctors who invented an injection called Anti-D, a medicine used in preventing antibody formation in rhesus negative women who have a rhesus positive baby. Australia was one of the first countries to find a donor with the antibody, and James was at the forefront of the lifesaving science. To date, James and Anti-D have been credited by the Australian Red Cross blood service for saving the lives of two million children. He is one of just 50 people in Australia who the blood service are aware have the antibody. Jemma explains: "Every bag of blood is precious, but James' blood is particularly extraordinary. "Every batch of Anti-D that has ever been made in Australia has come from James' blood, and more than 17% of women in Australia are at risk, so James has helped save a lot of lives." see photo at www.collettenatureblog.com |
Janese Walters of Ohio says she went blind after her cat licked her, transmitting a potentially dangerous infection to her. She just woke up one day and couldn't see with her left eye. 'I looked in the mirror and I thought I had pink eye, or something,' Walters said. 'I went to the doctors and they couldn't figure out for some time what it was.' For more than a month, doctors were baffled by the condition, but ultimately attributed the woman's sudden blindness to her cat! Cat-Scratch, can be transmitted when a cat licks a person's open wound, or scratches or bites a person hard enough to break the skin. Doctors say the infection can be avoided by thorough hand washing after having contact with cats. But, according to the CDC, the rare infection could cause serious complications affecting the brain, eyes, heart, or other internal organs. He said 40 percent of cats carry the disease and, according to the CDC, the infection is more likely to occur in people with weakened immune systems and children younger than 5 years old. Kittens younger than 1 year are more likely to carry the bacteria and to spread it to people. Walters said her experience has not stopped her from loving and owning pets, but she wants her experience to be a warning to others. see photos at: www.collettenatureblog.com |
A 46-year-old Milwaukee man, Thomas Sancomb, who was considered officially dead, and police had already contacted his family to inform them. But in a strange turn of events, the supposedly dead man came back to life during the transportation of the body. The man was found in his high-rise apartment, rigid and unresponsive. His girlfriend notified police that she couldn’t reach him, claiming he had a serious medical condition that caused him continuous health problems. Police, paramedics, and fire fighters all rushed to the scene to find the man lifeless at the foot of the bed. Rigor mortis had already set in. “They found him cold to the touch and in rigor,” said the medical examiner’s report. “They did not attempt to resuscitate him. Death was pronounced.” A medical transport arrived to take the man to the morgue to determine cause of death, but just as they were loading him onto the vehicle, the man started showing signs of life. His breathing returned and his right arm and leg started moving. He was quickly taken to a hospital instead of the morgue. It’s still unclear what affliction caused the near-death experience, but the brother of the Milwaukee man informed local news that he’s recovering quickly. www.collettenatureblog.com |
In a Uruguayan hospital, nine medical students have been suspended for partying with a corpse while they were on call at a hospital. One intern moved the dead man’s body from a corridor next to A&E after it was left unattended. They put a drink in his hand as they partied during one of their last shifts before becoming fully qualified doctors. The dead man’s relatives found him in a rest room. Eight of the nine students who took part in the bizarre toast have been suspended for a month. The punishment means they will now Read at www.collettenatureblog.com |
A recent research reports that, Bullying has effects on the body that last for decades and can shorten a person's life, new research suggests. Scientists found a significantly increased risk of stress-induced chronic inflammation in middle-aged men and women who had been bullied as children. This, in turn, is known to increase the chances of having blocked arteries, leading to potentially fatal cardiac failures and strokes. In women, falling victim to childhood bullying was also found to raise the risk of being clinically obese in later life by about 40%. Mirror UK, reported the findings from a major study of more than 7,000 Britons born in 1958 whose parents provided information about their children's exposure to bullying at age seven and 11. Data on blood inflammation markers and obesity were collected when the participants were aged 45. Professor Louise Arseneault, from the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience at King's College, London, who co-led the study, said: "Our findings show that being bullied in childhood does get under your skin. "We should move away from this idea that bullying is part of growing up and acceptable." "Bullying is a part of growing up for many children from all social groups," the professor continued. "While many important school programmes focus on preventing bullying behaviours, we tend to neglect the victims and their suffering. "Our study implies that early interventions in support of the bullied children could not only limit psychological distress but also reduce physical health problems in adulthood." Up to a fifth of children are thought to experience bullying but some cope with it better than others. Prof Arseneault said the most vulnerable appear to be those carrying the "baggage" of other problems, such as maltreatment at home. Previous research has linked bullying to an increased risk of depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, poorer education and deficient social life. The new study, published in the journal Psychological Medicine, points to serious physical as well as psychological effects that can have a major impact on long-term health. Measurements of body mass index (BMI), which relates height and weight, showed that 26% of women who had been occasionally or frequently bullied as children were obese at the age of 45. In comparison, 19% of women who escaped bullying ended up obese. A different measurement of abdominal fat, hip-waist ratio, showed that both men and women who suffered childhood bullying were thicker around the middle at the age of 45.
