kevinexit: I support FG on this one. Too many kids going to higher institution these days. The worst part is that most of these kids are products of Ignoramuses. Parents who can not even address a crowd. Parents who doesn't know what education entails. All they know is to keep pushing the child. This is the major reason we have so many yahoo boys in most higher institution today. Teens who buys car, furnished their houses, while their parents are poor at home. So all Yahoo Boys are teens? No 18 year olds and over are yahoo Boys? Una too daft for this Country hence we have such an old fool as Minister of Education. Backward county. |

Almunjid: I know where you're driving at. The minister is from the North where child marriage is prevalent. Legally speaking, the minimum age for marriage in Nigeria is 18, as set by the constitution. However, this law is often bypassed, just like the minimum age requirement for university admission. "Child marriage" remains a significant issue in the northern region, where many people consider girls between the ages of 14 to 16 as suitable for marriage.
The southern part of Nigeria also faces challenges related to "underage prostitution". In the southeast, in addition to child prostitution, there are instances of "baby factories" where girls as young as 13 to 16 are sexually exploited, and their babies are sold. If authorities were to "prosecute" the perpetrators of these crimes (child marriage and child prostitution), prisons would be filled with offenders from all regions of the country.
Many Northerners would rather give their underage girls in marriage than see them engage in child prostitution. The prevalence of early marriage in Northern Nigeria can be attributed to poverty, cultural practices, and religious beliefs, which were once also practiced in the southern part of Nigeria as part of their culture. In the south, poverty is the primary driving factor behind child prostitution. With this in mind, it's difficult to label any particular region as being free from societal issues.
Shalom! So according to you prostitution isn't practiçed in the North. May you have sense o. |

Throwback: This was the standard we knew growing up in Nigeria of the 80s and 90s, with the exception of those who were 16yrs because they skipped primary 6 to enter secondary school from primary 5.
So I don't understand where this age 18 matter is coming from.
If I complete my secondary school at age 17 like I actually did, am I not supposed to be in the university by the September of that same year and age?
Still, I think the minimum age should be 16yrs, to weed out those who abuse age limitations from the early classes.
A lower limit of 18yrs is an anomaly.
What are they doing in that class at that age?
It is such wanton and mindless abuse by parents and schools that has led to such wake up call from the policy makers. I never skipped a class yet entered Uni at 17. The Analogue, dumb ass Minister should take our Universities first to digitalized World class standard first. What measures has he put in place before this Bull dozer rubbish policy that has some evil agenda behind it. |

That actually good. Considering the fact that Mental maturity is needed to excel in some top courses in the Uni
I know there are exceptional cases whereby a 17year old student can top his class in the Uni, but exceptions dont make the rules
If you do not understand the relationship between age-dependent higher cognitive reasoning and Academic excellence, then I wont be surprised to see u attack this good development So being 18 automatically means I am.responsible. May God set you and that bastard analogue empty head Minister who should be home spoon feeding his great-grandchildren on fire. |

Feintline: I totally disagree. Tinubu's case is the consequences of descrating the land in his desperate quest to grab power.
I decided to just seat and watch. Nothing happening comes as a suprise. I warned here severally of the consequences of tinubu desecrating the land and removing the ancient landmark of the fathers in his desperate quest for power but it fell on deaf ears.
I warned here severally that tinubu has triggered a curse on the land with his desecrations.
I warned here severally that nothing tinubu will do will make sense no matter who he appoints because of the curse he triggered in his quest for power.
The dearth in the land is not about tinubu as a person. It is about what was done for tinubu to grab power.
We must repair the desecrations for our nation to have a hope of revival. All the desecrators from tinubu executive arm to the legislature and judiciary must be patrotic enough to get out, so as to repair the damage. Every person who had a hand or benefited from removing the ancient landmark of the land to usher in this unparalled dearth in the nation should be patrotic and sacrificial enough to do the right thing . The Country is bleeding profusely Tinubu is the one after himself with his baseless anti-people policies. Nigerians are fighting back the unbearable hardship. Tinubu himself joined protests in the past. Let Tinubu channel the removed Subsidy Allocation funds to fixing our refineries and totally stop refined fuel importation if the rogue claims to aim for a better economy. |

GIFTEDPLANNERS: Am looking for a single point in this speech that address just one point in this economy and misuse of power by those in position of power to serve. All the so called social funds are just audio funds. The govt should bring out offices and address with Web site that house this fund if they are real. Those that benefitted should be on the list as we have freedom of information bill in place. This speech has nothing in it. There are ministers that should be taken out. There are so many ministries that should be merged. What stop the president from stopping all govt appointees from using public funds on private jets and first class and going abroad for medicals with public funds. What stop the govt to reduce in port duty by 50 percent and export duty with same. Making Nigeria work is not rocket science. All this social funds can never solve the economy problem or add any value to the economy. Declare mechanized agriculture in all state on 20 thousand hectares of land from this month with each planting 2 items as minimum on it and see if we won't start feeding Africa by next year. We spend money were we dont need it.. all this farms can generate there own power for water using solar or bio gas. Changing Nigeria is simple if we want to change it to a country that is producing goods and services for the world Politicians don't give a hoot about Nigerians. Audio social grants as a means to loot public funds. Tinubu should channel removed Subsidy Allocation towards fixing our refineries and totally stop refined fuel importation if he claims to be a transparent President aiming for a better economy. |

Nvestor02: [/b] If Tunibu decides to remove the subsidy, it would make him seem like the most incompetent president ever. But I know how brave Tunibu is, and I believe no amount of criticism will stop him from pushing Nigeria forward. Thanks.
Removing the subsidy is their main demand because the people behind this protest are the ones benefiting from it, and they want it back to drain Nigeria even more.
This decision is the right move to improve Nigeria. We've already seen how he increased the allocation by 41%. I can't understand what these people are thinking when they say Timangu is on the wrong path.
To make Nigeria better, everyone needs to make sacrifices. What you eat is your responsibility than the government's. Let that really sink in. People cannot make unbearable sacrifices. Tinubu had not even assumed office before declaring Subsidy Removal like a senseless dictator aiming to bring hardship to Nigerians. It appears subsidy allocation has been channeled into RETURN ON INVESTMENT for money spent during elections. The economy is improving yet the exchange rate keeps getting higher? Let Tinubu keep fooling himself. He is asking for a state of anarchy if he doesn't tread carefully. Nigerians are being pushed against the wall by his harsh, anti-people policies and will fight back. Let him channel the Subsidy Allocation into fixing our refineries so that there's no more need for refined fuel importation. Tinubu appears to be a liar and a rogue. |
