Fiscus105: Criticism and counter- criticism won't do you good, and by extension Nigeria's society. If your wife is scolding kids, would you start attacking ur wife instead of joining her chastising the children?
If you want to condemn such Inglourious acts perpetrated by lecturers, you are free to open a thread for that or wait until they bring such posts up.
The allegations you brought up, is it all of them doing it! No.
The allegations of poor performances by University's students, even though, they did well in SSCE, is true? Yes.
If it's true, talk about it first before you attack lecturers. It's okay for the half baked Lecturers to attack and generalise in your own opinion. Lecturers my foot. Some of them.cant even construct a proper sentence yet they are pointing their crooked fingers. |

God2man2again: The problem has been there and this is what brought about post utme to weed off these students, the problem still persists anyway, this should not discredit the fact that we still have brilliant students in Nigeria, it is unfortunate that the problem still continues, the solution is to mount monitoring camera in the school hall and allow examinatiion bodies to monitor them live during the ecams, this will go a long way to eliminate examination malpractice.
There is no other way to stop it. Post UTME where under General Knowledge Questions they are asking Civil Service Questions and which Politician did what in 1976 just so that they can prevent intelligent candidates from gaining admission and place their own "people" in the most desired courses. PostUTME is a facade. Wake up and smell the coffee. |

free2ryhme: It cannot be ruled out that some students may have been helped by teachers or attended special centers where exam fraud happened during their SSCE. This raises doubts about the authenticity of their results. The concern is that such practices harm the education system, as students may move forward without the right knowledge or skills. The Lecturers are no different. God help Nigeria. |

FreeStuffsNG: “We are tired of seeing students with A1 in Mathematics but cannot solve the smallest of fractions in the subject,” ASUU said in the letter.
“We’re tired of seeing a student with distinctions in Physics and Chemistry, but knows nothing about chemical reactions or energy conversion,” the letter read in part,”
When some glorified secondary schools set their cut off mark for admission at 140 out of 400 JAMB score and accept 2 sittings in ordinary level SSCE, what else do you expect? FAILED STUDENTS of course!
Because it's now impossible to cheat in JAMB, these mediocre schools are now sabotaging the system by admitting candidates who fail JAMB. Smh
Does the ASUU branch of those glorified secondary schools don't know that they are attracting candidates who failed JAMB ni?
Academically strong candidates will not leave elite prestigious schools like UNILAG with higher merit-based and highly competitive admission criteria to choose schools with below par and inferior admission criteria.
If you want quality students, raise the bar and standard of your admission. ASUU is strong enough to condemn admission cut off point of 140 in JAMB. For God's sake, that is 35% score! 35% score is FAIL! Stop admitting students who fail university entrance exams and you will get university-grade students.
The JAMB exams, O'level and Post UTME exams are enough. Just set the standard high. We don't need any other exam to vet those candidates who ace those 3 exams without cheating. Coming from half baked Lecturers who bought their ways through their acclaimed PhDs. Let them take several seats abeg. Liars. |

Ojuntana: First of all, it is deeply concerning the change in rhetoric that occurs when the teeth of otherwise intelligent and resourceful professional are set on corn. The kind of gibberish that starts to flow is a sign that the corn being offered on a platter is indeed of the fermented stock. It intoxicates the gobbler with a resultant effect that's comparable with that of the famed 40 year whiskey.
That said, I find it insulting to Nigerians and their hardwork and intelligence when people make this silly narratives of fake life or window-dressed realities. This is more so when the people who make these kind of condescending statements are those who have benefited maximally from the society and have not ploughed back what can be said to be commensurate with what they've accrued for themselves from the proverbial cake.
Imagine a situation where a man who after enjoying the benefits of the high office of governor, and while leaving office makes a law that enables him to continue to enjoy the perks of that same office perpetually as if he were still an occupant.
Not only that, choice properties are allocated to him by him. He then turns around to accuse others of living a fake life.
Ditto this particular case as well. A man who was called to rewrite tax laws which will ensure more money goes to the political elites to fund their excesses and lifestyle both in and out of office turns round to accuse others of window dressing their realities.
I make bold to say Nigerians are among the most deprived yet hopeful and hardworking on the surface of the earth.
The average Nigerian has no social infrastructure or welfare system to fall back on in time of crisis save for a strong family structure.
The average Nigerian farmer works with the least of tools. Yet he's been asked to produce crops to feed the populace and export as well.
The average mechanic works with the basic of tools. Yet he's expected to drive innovation in technology.
Same for the average carpenter bricklayer, tailor etc. No program to empower such hardworking Nigerians exist.
Rather, they are dumped on the lowest rung of the ladder and left alone to climb or drown while getting talked down on if they ask for a reprieve.
The UK spends 25% of its budget on social welfare and infrastructure. In countries like Saudi which are oil producing like Nigeria, home ownership is a right.
Shall we speak of countries like Norway where unemployment benefits sometimes exceed employment income for the citizens.
Nigerian leaders and elites are among the most corrupt and wasteful in the world. Yet, they hardly take responsibility for how the country has turned out on their watch. They are a bunch of greedy taskmasters who believe in being unquestionable and unquestioned.
One day na one day sha Who says they are intelligent? They have only been fighting for their pockets the whole time. Those polithievecians who looted and embezzled unendingly are roaming free. Those who left Nigeria broke are still in their Mansions and have Billions in their Bank Accounts. None has been convicted and had all they looted confiscated yet this government thinks it's the victimised masses who should bear the brunt of the actions of some unscrupulous, greedy thieves? God dey. |

yinkus6750: Faded vehicle numbers is a great security risk. However, FRSC should improve on the quality of its production and give it a longer durable lengthy years than what is currently obtainable. Cost of replacement should also be cheaper without extorting it's owners. Good judgement. Replacement should be free. It appears they produce cheap quality so they can keep extorting road users by requesting replacements every now and then. |
