On Tuesday, September 12, some of the soldiers stationed in Umuahia, Abia state for the Operation Python Dance assaulted journalists whom they said were filming them. At least two journalists were reportedly attacked at the state secretariat of Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ). The leadership of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Zone C, (South East) has slammed the Nigerian military over the invasion of its Press Centre in Umuahia, Abia State. NUJ Zone C in a statement signed by the Vice President, NUJ, Comrade Chris Isiguzo and the Secretary, Comrade Kenneth Ofoma wondered how audacious the military can be in their so-called "Operation z Dance II." According to them, "military personnels reportedly beat up journalists at sight and destroyed their working tools such as Samsung Tablets, mobile telephones, and mini-recorders". Former vice president of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has hailed Aisha Alhassan, a minister in the government of Muhammadu Buhari, for stating that she would resign if the latter decides to continue in office beyond 2019. Two people have been injured in a fight that ensued between Students Union Government leaders of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, on Tuesday. During the fight, the Vice President of the union, Miss Jacob Tosin, allegedly broke a bottle and stabbed the Social Director, Adedayo Emmanuel, in the arm. It was learnt that Tosin, who also received a headbutt from Emmanuel, had been admitted to the Seventh Day Adventist Hospital, Ile-Ife.
