My criticism of Samuel Johnson's bias of other tribes is one that concerns my own town we. There was a woman Ademuregun,a beautiful woman, who befriended three kings one after the other. Somehow, by a stroke of luck, she had three boys, each for each king. Later in life, the three princes, became kings around the same time. These were Alara, Ajero and Orangun of Ila. Though, these three were siblings, two in Ekiti and one in igbomina. The story is true from the two accounts I read from two sides. Also, in the saying of the elders, when you hear Olugbon, Arẹsà, Oníkòyí same is Alára, Ajero, oragun. For someone to say there is no relationship when even now, the dynasties in these towns till now.

That Ajero, Akara, Olugbon, Orangun, Areas story is for another time. But there is a lesson here.

Samuel Johnson wrote the book based on his understanding. If not for him, there won't be a chronological concrete account of most Yorubas. Give him his dues.

The most agonizing one was the failure of unity btw Oluewu and Atiba.
If you read Samuel Johnson's book, he explained clearly how Alaafin Oluewu was focusing on rivalling with Atiba while he was in middle of war with Ilorin. Maybe Atiba too was a pompous lad we don't know. But national building involves shelving personal grudges and working together as one like a bunch of broom. Thanks for your observation. I read the most part of the book. Well presented but poorly researched. He wrote his book from the standpoint of the oyos. It would have been better if he had gotten the history of the component parts. Which other parts of Yoruba people apart from the Oyo subgroup accept his claims? Is there are Christian write-up in Iledi in Ile Ifẹ? I researched into Gogobiri history, the is no link between them and Yorubas. There's however, a link between Oyo and Nupe via Oranmiyan. If you have any concrete evidence from the Gogobiri side please post it.

The history from Ife people themselves as it is being told is different from those in the Samuel Johnson's book is different. No matter how long and far a book has traveled, the mentality and history.

The world hasn't ended and more research are to be done to discover more facts.
