Literature / And There Came Religion... by diraxclusive(f): 5:26pm On Oct 17, 2015
There she was looking so miserable and frustrated. I watched her as she stayed hours all by herself and refused to talk to anybody, I knew it was same issue, only one issue could get her so worked up “Religion”.

Religion has always giving her headaches from her teenage years, she wanted to be herself, and needed to connect to God in a simple manner, not minding her docile doctrine. It wasn’t as easy as it seems for her, she considered her parents, her siblings “what they would think of her” and decided to wait for the right time

I remember back in the days, she would wear my rosary with pride in School and made sure she handed it back to me at the gate of her house, but was always quick to get it back the following day. Singing was her favorite, you would mistake her for an angel those days

She looked forward to the day she won’t have to hide anymore, that day she wouldn’t mind their opinions and just express herself spiritually without being afraid or feeling guilty about letting her folks down. She looked forward to that perfect timing like she always called it and was certain that day would come.

The future is here and after series of events in her life, she’s faced with this issue again, like she just shot herself in the leg. “This life is a crazy place” she said

I tried to picture myself in her shoes often times, all she wanted was to connect to God, that feeling of looking at the mirror and recognizing your image or reflection. That sense of belonging and it isn’t too much to ask for

Often times it amazes me how our parents tend to dominate our lives even till death, and this tends to affect our level of maturity and reasoning. Pardon me for being blunt but this is different in the western world

What would the world be without religion “I thought? Why do we tend to complicate our lives with unnecessary issues? Why do I have to denounce my religion to be with a life partner? Why can’t I hold on to my faith while you do the same? To make it worse he is worrying for generations to come! Only God knows tomorrow, geez! Haven’t we gone a little over bored here?

If I was born in china, I will be a Buddhist, and if it is India, I will be a Hindu, or any other religion practiced over there. For crying out loud, we have over 730 established religions in the world. So do I have to feel less as a human being for not being same faith as you or are you less of a man for accepting me for what I am.

Today, we have religious crisis everywhere, Muslims killing Christians and vice versa to claim “only God knows”. Some people even think marrying from another religion is off limit, forgetting that only two responsible adults can make a relationship work. We so much live in pretence; we try so hard to impress our neighbors and even begin to believe our lies too.

Religion teaches moral, shows you ways to go, and there is no law that says that marrying from your own faith guarantees you a lifetime companionship. So why play God? Why impose your religion on someone? Or does the fact that I’m your wife or your daughter means I should have same belief as you?... see more http://diraxclusive.com/blog/2015/10/07/and-there-came-religion/

Literature / An Insight In The Life Of A Lagos Commercial Bus Passenger... by diraxclusive(f): 11:58pm On Sep 20, 2015
As if the stress of work wasn't enough today, picking my bag exactly 5pm to go relax at home with the comfort of my bed was exciting enough, now this drama in a commercial bus! I never envisaged.
In a bid to get home on time, I whisked myself in the next available bus, not even minding the faces of the few passengers on it, "who does anyway"
As it took off, a sequence of the day's event engulfed my mind. I longed for that rush of fresh air from the window and quickly reached for it.
The man beside me kept looking at me as I laughed while in thoughts. He must have thought, I was going "gaga"
It was a smooth ride, "so I thought" until the driver and conductor felt pressured to fill the empty seats. This idea of stopping at every bus stops annoyed me but I just sat down tending to my own business, like I always do but other passengers didn't find it cool and they didn't fail in showing their disgust over this act. "Oga move this thing" the lady behind me said. "I shouldn't have paid" another one screamed.
At this point, the frequent stops at bus stops, the traffic, the hotness of the weather freaked me out. There are some things you never get used to in life.
"My change" I remembered, "e never dey" the conductor snapped, so I relaxed, and my thought sinked with the sound of movement, as I watched the endless trail of vehicles.
The abrupt change of atmosphere surprised me, the strong stench of sweat from the man beside me can kill a pig,"I thought " he had just raised his arm and I could barely breath and I don't...see more http://diraxclusive.com/blog/2015/09/20/an-insight-in-the-life-of-a-lagos-commercial-passenger/

Literature / Gayism, Religion, Culture; Way To Go by diraxclusive(f): 12:47pm On Jul 18, 2015
With the recent legalisation of same sex/gay marriage in America, makes me wonder if African leaders can look beyond culture and religion and follows the law of equality by legalising gay marriage
Gayism is the act of feeling attraction towards same gender, like Homosexuals, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender etc
African culture is diverse, mix of tribes with unique culture and language. Culture is the ways of life and beliefs of the people and our culture is as old as the people's existence.
In Nigeria, we are blessed with multiple ethnic groups, as much as 521 languages and 250 dialects and ethnic. We have 3 major tribes, Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba.
Our values as African is our culture and we must preserve it. Even though, we are losing it gradually to western culture or civilisation but we can still quick to saying "Gayism isn't our culture" not minding our rights as individuals.
On the other hand, Religion is something most of us have in common as human. Our curiosity for the purpose of life, life as human, life after death, the origin of the universe and the existence of God. We have 20 kinds of religion among other beliefs.
The Bible, holy book of the Christians frowns at Gayism and explains that you seize to have a working relationship with God, if you choose to be a gay, because what happened in Soddom and Gomorha shows that God is against...see more http://diraxclusive..com/2015/07/gayism-religion-and-culture-way-to-go.html?m=1

Literature / A State Of Darkness; Understanding Life by diraxclusive(f): 7:08pm On Jun 19, 2015
I long for what I don't know, even seek for what I can't find, where can I get that unknown force that just makes life look like a fairy tale
I stared at the mirror, looking at my reflection for answers and I looked again if there was something I was missing.
This time I saw an image, hungry for answers, I saw through me generations to come and wished I could tell their fate.
I stood dazed, dazed at what life has become. A brief thought of going back to the days of innocence occupied my mind.
I stood like a Soldier on parade waiting to salute a superior, I clinched my teeth at every slightest pain i felt, I shunned the pain of my weak legs, as I gazed at the imaginary rays of sunlight.
For a moment I was in trance, could my reflection have been a false image? Could working everyday to pay bills be the life God called me for? Is this life? I baffled at my curiosity.
How can you fathom the stray bullet that killed my colleague on his way to work? How can you fathom all the bomb blast killing the innocent ones? Is there a day of judgement and the life hereafter as we're being told.
The dynamism of this world is a puzzle too big to unravel, how can we explain the competitive... See more http://diraxclusive..com/2015/06/a-state-of-darkness-understanding-life.html?m=1

Literature / I Feared For Menopause by diraxclusive(f): 9:30pm On Jun 03, 2015
I never knew this day would come so soon but I was dazed when my naturally "overflow or heavy" menstrual period was "scarily scanty"
I foolishly called my friend telling her I was close to menopause. This is absurd but nothing else came to my mind at that time. I just turned 30years and my best friend thinks my biological clock is ticking, now am faced with this, so I blamed it on menopause, "that simple" I thought.
Menopause is the period in a woman's life, when menstrual periods stops permanently and during this time, she can't conceive because the function of the ovary ceases too.
This process happens gradually, Not Overnight and it varies in women's life too between the age of 45 - 55 years.
I began to manufacture unrealistic symptoms on my head, "you can't imagine," but symptoms of menopause include abnormal virginal bleeding, hot flashes, virginal and urinary disease(s) among others, according to researches.
I thought of the possibilities of this happening now and so many unimaginable things. I can't tell why I always think of the worse of all situations and this makes me get angry easily.
At that point all I needed was a shrink to talk me out of this scary tale.
Further research revealed that hypnosis will help my habit of thinking worse of situations, as this will give me a clearer perspective "I wasn't wrong when I said I needed a shrink"
Forgive me if I over panicked but what was I supposed to do? That finally "karma" caught up with me, because I can remember how hard I laughed at a friend's ignorance, when she had similar issue at age 20 and...see more http://diraxclusive..com/2015/06/i-feared-for-menopause.html?m=1

Literature / The Walk To Change by diraxclusive(f): 8:07am On May 29, 2015
We are in an era of Change, a time of economical development, a new beginning. According to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and I quote "It is a moment, when hope is re-born, faith is rekindled and fresh fire of patriotism is released for the task ahead."
This transition involves the incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan and the President elect, Rtd Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari.
In 2011 President Goodluck Jonathan declared his intentions to run in the presidency race on facebook. This became news and won the hearts of millions of Nigerians, because other politicians or leaders distance from social network to evade accountability.
This single act made Nigerians believe, he could be open to criticism, suggestion and opinions of the masses.
He made one promise, which was " to promise less and deliver more"

Literature / My Parent's Divorce Ruined Me II by diraxclusive(f): 2:05pm On May 27, 2015
The coming of two house-helps brought life back into the house again, A boy and a girl. The girl was beautiful, her smile was captivating, but she wasn't smart, but like I always say "who cares"
I would give anything to look through the door whenever she's taking off her clothes, and she does that too fast "like she knew someone was watching"
Mummy managed to sneak in one faithful day and took my youngest siblings away. We heard she traveled out of the country with them afterwards
I remember the look on daddy's face, like he was beaten to his game. It became me, my immediate younger sister with the maids and I was glad.
The "houseboy" didn't talk much, but has a commanding charisma, "which leaves me wondering sometimes, who the maid was, because sometimes I ran his errands"
I like them both, John and Mary. John taught me so many things about life and used me as his tool.
Getting cigarette for us to smoke was regular, watching him sleep with Mary most nights was a torture for me. He even promised to let me try and I longed for it.
My little sister was doing well in school, but my case was different and I had to drop out of school. It was too much trouble for me and I wasn't even interested...see more http://diraxclusive..com/2015/05/my-parents-divorce-ruined-my-life-ii.html?m=1
Literature / My Parent's Divorce Ruined Me... by diraxclusive(f): 5:40pm On May 22, 2015
I remember how our home used to be loud with my mother's cries. She would scream loud to call people to her rescue.
My siblings and I were just kids, I was the oldest and I was just Nine years and really didn't understand what was happening.
She would scream continuously for help, and the following morning, her Face would be battered and swollen. It went on for years and I grew up hating my father for it.
The last time it happened, it was my father and his sister beating her together. They even dragged her on the floor and my Aunt kept raining abuses on her, "serves you right, you witch" she said continuously

Literature / Which Way Nigeria by diraxclusive(f): 9:54pm On May 17, 2015
While taking a walk under the scorching sun, I had a deep thought about the happenings in my country.
We have seemingly watched things going from bad to worse and even worst.
Taking an in-depth look at the activities of this country is saddening, and heartbreaking.
People are losing their beauties, their smiles, sweat and pride easily. These days, all you see is pain and frustration in people's eyes, sadness behind the fake smile.
I asked myself when will these sufferings end?, when can we proudly say we have competent and credible leaders, "which way Nigeria"
These days we sleep and wake in darkness, and even the privatization of the power sector can't provide us solutions.
Even when we have to get alternative generating set, incase one messes up, our leaders have made sure... see more http://diraxclusive..com/2015/05/which-way-nigeria.html?m=1

Literature / Live Life But Watch Your Back by diraxclusive(f): 7:51pm On May 16, 2015
It was a beautiful sunny day in school, the sun came too early I thought.
I sat under the mango tree waiting for my friend Angela. She was a brilliant girl and was never late for school.
I always loved a little gossip before lectures, which I called the serious business of the day.
Few hours gone and still no sign of Angela yet. " I guess I must have wronged the spirit of gossip today" I said. So I carried on with the business of the day and promised to check on Angela after School.
She was sad, in shock and heartbroken. Not the the kind of heartbreak you get when your "love story" failed, but she has... see more http://diraxclusive..com/2015/03/live-life-but-watch-your-back.html?m=1

Literature / Between An Addiction Or A Fetish by diraxclusive(f): 9:38pm On May 07, 2015
"He confessed that whenever he had to make love or get turned on by his partner, she had to have a wig on"
Habits like this are rare and strange. As human beings, just as we are gifted with different talents, we also have the tendencies of picking or being exposed to rare behaviour patterns.
Behaviour pattern is a particular way a person behave or act. Having a fetish or an addiction is rare and yet common among peers.
A fetish is a fondness, obsession or liking of something in a particular way, that may not be common.
It could be something ridiculous, it could be foot fetish, where you love to have your foot rubbed.

The day's job just ended and Enitan was already looking frustrated as usual " how long will this continue for? Me I don tire ojare, she said"
Before I could say "wait for me,let's close together", she grabbed her bag and hurried home.
Enitan is 21 years, works as an office assistant and she's paying her way through school. She used to live with her brother who kicked her out.
She moved in with her parent, who lived in the outskirt of Lagos. She knew immediately, she couldn't stay there, "my salary won't cover my transportation, she thought"
She needed another option desperately because she could barely make a savings and cope with the distance between her workplace and home. Letting go with this job wasn't part of her option, she needed to find another place to keep her head.
Her regular phrase was " I must make am"
Her solution came when she ran into her friend, who had a shop close to our office. She saw this as an opportunity.
She moved in. while she was there, she took her bath as early as 3:30am, not minding the cold... see more http://diraxclusive..com/2015/03/workers-as-hustlers.html?m=1
