Jobs/VacanciesWhat Job Seeker Needs To Learn From Jobberman Recent Report by disserious(op): 10:23pm On Apr 14, 2016
Reading Statistics:
• Paragraphs.....................40
• Sentences......................89
• Words..........................1538
• Characters...................9312
• Letters..........................7276
• Read. Time...........00:06:09

The data used covered the period of Oct - Dec (2015) making it the last quarter of the year and the breakdowns is as follows;
• 11, 889 accounts for the total number of vacancies available on jobberman platform and they are distributed monthly thus; 4620 applicants in Oct, 4696 in Nov and 2563 in Dec.

With the data above, it can be seen that Nov has the highest number of vacancies while the figures dropped significantly in Dec.

• 737033 accounts for the total number of applicants with the monthly breakdown as; 318233 in Oct, 248347 in Nov and 170453 in December.

It can be seen here that Oct has the highest number of applicants, followed by Nov and the least being Dec.

It was reported that the dropped was as a result of seasonal variation. ( Coughing, *Oh what a jargon - I do not know how to explain this in plain terms o)

NOTE HERE: With the said data above, it can be deduced that 68.88 applicants applied to one job in Oct, 52.88 applicants applied to one job in Nov and 66.51 applicants applied to a single job in Dec.

The applicants and the vacancies ratio are so wide - Meaning there are many job seekers chasing a single job.

PERSONAL NOTE: Though the report claimed to review the data covering the last quarter of the year (The 3rd Quarter, Q3). July, August, and September was also included in some section of the report.
(I would have loved to lay my hand on the complete data set but that wasn't the case.)

In as much as I would have preferred the raw data, sadly, it was not given out. I will try as much as possible to work on the given ones.

APPLICANTS DISTRIBUTION BY STATE:

I will be commenting on this so as to help job seekers to know which state to look forward to while strategizing on their next job application.

• Lagos has the highest number of applicants with a total of 79399, followed by Abuja with a total of 14648. Leaving Rivers and Oyo with the third and fourth position with 8869 and 6489 applicants respectively.

• Yobe and Jigawa have the least number of active applicants with 82 and 87 total applicants.

VACANCIES AVAILABLE BY STATES.

The surprising thing here is that there are some states without active vacancies (i.e. ZERO VACANCIES - Like Nada), yet they claimed a good share of applicants. What are they applying for?

• States like Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, Edo, Ekiti, Jigawa, Kogi and Yobe have no vacancies yet they have a good number of applicants.

• States like Imo, Katsina, Nasarawa, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Plateau, Sokoto has 1 vacancy within the period under review.

• Lagos, Abuja, Rivers, and Oyo claimed the most share of vacancies posted with 188, 16, 15 and 9 respectively.

APPLICATIONS BY EDUCATION

I do not think this is of much interest but it cost nothing to point it out.

• Candidates who applied through Degree, HND, and MBA/MSc took it all with numbers totaling 64564, 15160 and 11437 respectively while candidates with vocational certificate have the least figures. Of all these applicants, 67.77% are males while 32.23% are females. ( Are females not applying for jobs? - Just asking anyway!)

POINTS TO TAKE HOME

1. The most common specialization that was asked for on the Jobberman website was for Sales/Business Development, which accounted for 15.68% of jobs. IT and Education/Training both accounted for a similar share; 12.02% and 11.54% respectively. At the other extreme, only 0.12% of vacancies required a specialization in Telecom, and 0.32% required a specialization in Building Design/Architecture.

2. A slight majority (52.98%) of active vacancies had been online for more than six weeks. The lowest duration for which a vacancy had been active online was 26 days, just under four weeks. The longest duration was recorded as 195 days, slightly more than half a year. The average duration for which vacancies were active online was just over seven weeks.

3. Over the six months to December, there were only 159 active vacancies for which salary information was available. Of these, the average salary was N 127,264 per month ( Methinks they can do better here)

4. Of all the active vacancies advertised on the Jobberman website, the majority did not require a great deal of experience; 55.15% of vacancies require less than three years.

5. As at the time of the previous report, the majority of industries (23 out of 27) asked for 1-3 years of experience the most. Three industries – Legal, Oil & Gas/Mining and Manufacturing/production – asked for 3-5 years of the experience the most, and the Insurance industry most commonly advertised for entry-level positions. ( Why are people shying away from Insurance. LOL)

6. Education and Trade/Services attracted relatively few applications in relation to the number of vacancies that were posted; there were 20 applications for every Education vacancy and 33 for every Trade/Services vacancy between the months October and December

7. Even though Trade/Services was the most common industry to apply to, it did not dominate applications to the same extent as vacancies. At the other end, the industries Power/Energy and Travel/Tourism received 461 and 366 applications per vacancy over this period, suggesting that these posts were extremely competitive. ( How market?)

8. In each case, Power/Energy, Oil & Gas/Mining and Logistics/Transport were among the most competitive, occupying the first, second and third position in the earlier period, and first third and fourth in the later. Similarly, Trade/Services and Education were amongst the least competitive on the Jobberman website in each period.

9. Only 2.4% of applicants under 20 years of age were educated to above degree level, perhaps unsurprising given the length of time it takes to obtain this level of education. For applicants above 50 years old, this figure rises to 45.2%; nearly half of applicants within this age bracket have a higher qualification than a degree.

10. An estimated 59.86% of applicants were between the ages of 20 and 29, making this by far the most common age group for applicants to fall under. Very few applicants were below the age of 20, possibly a sign of the relatively high education level of applicants.

11. The industry to receive the most applications in each month was Trade/Services, which accounted for 36.02% of applications over the three month period. In October, the industry received 119,900, or 37.68% of applications, more than three times as many as Consulting which received the second largest share. However by December, this figure had fallen to 33.08%, due to a fall of 63,513 in the number of applications.

This represents a fall of 52.97%, and accounts for 42.98% of the total fall. The Consulting industry saw a comparatively modest drop of 37.11%, however, given that this industry accounted for 12.13% of the total number of applications over the period, this still accounted for 8.50% of the total decline in applications. The third largest industry over the period was ICT/Telecommunications, which received 5.91% of applications over the period. Applications to this industry fell by 51.13% between October and November, slightly more than average.

12. This fall in the number of applications was broad based; out of the 27 different industries, 23 received fewer applications during the review period. Four industries did not experience any decline in the number of applications, these industries were Construction, Power/Energy, Food services and others, but together these industries accounted for only 4.66% of applications over the period.

13. Trade/Services remained the industry to which the largest number of applications were made, and which posted the largest number of vacancies.

14. Power/Energy and Travel/Tourism were the industries to receive the most applications per each vacancy, receiving 461 and 366 respectively, which makes them the most competitive industries to apply for on the Jobberman website.

IN CONCLUSION

This report is an information haven for job seekers and I am commending jobberman to have dug this deep. I believe they can do better than this.
Also, methinks it would have been a better idea if they can give data cruncher the opportunity to lay hand on the raw data. I believe this will provide more interesting insights.

Only if site like NAIRALAND can give us such an opportunity to mine data from their platform.

The analysis would have helped many individuals and companies with the opportunity to plan and develop their business for the Nigerian markets. (Just my suggestion anyway!)

We are missing so many opportunities that only the figures can best explain, it's high time we work on this.

What are Nigerians saying?

What is trending in Nigeria?

Where is there an opportunity to explore in Nigeria?

What is marketable in Nigeria?

All these are some of the questions which data will give a sounding answer to, but all I can say is;

LalasticLala and other mods determine what trend, they give us the chance to see what they so desire we see (Judgemental - Which can be based on emotions and other factors).

And yes, they also control our voices.

That is why many here are complaining about seeing post about snake, tonto dike and so on the frontpage.

BTW, What is my business!

What type of phone are you using and what is the price?

Op you see your life? Always say the truth and shame the devil
Your data is off, WiFi is off and power saving is ON. And your battery is at 59% and you only have 6hrs 45m power left and you put up all those hip on the battery
Check mine and see the real deal. Indeed EMPTY Cartoon make the loudest noise keep it up.
Edited
Yes people after I posted the battery graph of the phone am using, a lot of people started asking me what's the make.

Now lot of people believe that my phone has a good battery. But the truth is that I still believe that there are other phones out there that has better battery than mine, I can't tell you here that mine battery is the best lasting battery in its category like what the OP said. That is what is called being transparency and being honest.

I gave TECNO the credit they deserve, TECNO BOOM J8 is beautiful, no doubt about that and even more beautiful than the so called Phantom 5 but it doesn't what the price tag.

About the phone am using, there's Igbo proverb that says "Ahia Di Ma Na Ele Onwe Ya" English meaning "Good product sell itself"
It's only when a company manufacture a failed product and hike the price that they will hire tout to be chasing people around with cutlass and guns to buy the product.

If you buy phone from reputable brand, there will always be certain with their specifications, they don't need to hire touts to flood internet forum and lay false information about their products.

In summary:
Am always transparent and if I should tell you the model of my phone, it will look as if am trying to market the companies product am using thereby painting TECNO black.
Don't let touts sweet mouth you and deceive you with their false information about their products.
Thanks.

RomanceHow To Recognize And Attract “trustworthy” Women by disserious(op): 1:00am On Oct 20, 2015
What are the traits of someone who is “trustworthy”? More
specifically, what are the traits of a woman who is trustworthy?
Here are a few of the traits that are most commonly thought of…
- A woman who has your best interest in mind.
- A woman who truly loves you.
- A woman who will not cheat on you.
- A woman who appreciates you for just being who you are.
But while these are great “ultimate goals”, they are not actually the
foundational traits that comprise a “trustworthy” woman.
To fully be able to recognize and attract a trustworthy woman, you
must first learn what “foundational traits” to look for. Unfortunately
most people (men & women) end up looking for their “ultimate goal”
when it comes to this subject and not the “foundational traits” that
comprise someone who is trustworthy.
Here is the problem with that… Most people (about 90% of us) see
what we want to believe when it comes to a dating partner or
potential mate. We do not actually see what “truly is” most of the time.
That is because we are focused on the ultimate goal, and not the
foundational traits.
It is easy to say, “She is just so sweet, and constantly tells me how
much she loves me. I know she would never cheat.”
Well, unfortunately sweetness is not one of the foundational traits to a
trustworthy woman necessarily. She could very easily be just as
sweet to every other male she comes across that sparks her interest!
Therefore, you must know these foundational traits which comprise a
trustworthy woman….
1. Does she respect you? Respect consists of many different
aspects… Does she honor your presence? Does she speak
highly of you? Does she always expect to be “first and
foremost” or is she genuinely concerned about your well-being
and your desires?
2. Has she cheated or done non-trustworthy acts in past
relationships? Learn about her history! Cheating, falsifying
information, stealing, etc. are all habitual traits. Done once, they
will be done a thousand times.
3. Does she honor and respect other people’s relationships? Does
she support, promote or protect her friends when they cheat or
act unfairly to their partners? If she does, then she will clearly
not respect your relationship with her and will quickly follow in
the footsteps of her friends!
4. Is she stable? Does she change her mind quickly and is she
impulsive? Does she make decisions “in the moment” without
clearly thinking through them? Men sometimes find “impulsive”,
sporadic women fun and adventurous… and they can be, but
they can also use those same traits to make negative
decisions.
5. Is she “vindictive”? Will she justify acting rudely to you or not
respecting you after a fight or general argument? Does she
seek revenge in volatile situations?
6. Does she make excuses for her wrongful actions? Does she
always have a justification and thinks that nothing can ever be
her own, personal fault?
Here are some basic rules of thumb to remember…
- Stealing and lying are habitual traits. Done once, they will be done a
thousand times.
- Learning about her past relationships is good. Though it may be
somewhat uncomfortable for you to listen, it may allow you to
discover a lot of information “between the lines” of her stories.
- Time. To truly learn about someone and be able to pick up on
potentially negative traits, you need time. It goes back to the saying
that “love is blind”. Don’t rush into a relationship, or worse yet,
marriage. Take it slowly and utilize as much time as possible.
- Be open to “negatives”. No one is perfect. Everyone has
weaknesses and faults. Some just have far more detrimental ones
than others. Don’t get the “she’s perfect” mentality into your head.
That will make you blind to negatives. Instead, secretly and quietly
look for her faults and negative traits. If you can clearly define them,
and are okay with them, then you have found a great woman!
- Watch for impulsive actions that are done “in the moment”. Most
decisions to cheat are done impulsively without thought for future
consequences.
CareerJob Interview Success by disserious(op): 12:01am On Oct 20, 2015
All right! You got the interview! Now what?

RELAX ... you're about to discover the 10 most important elements of easily succeeding easily in any Job Interview situation! They will give you a BIG advantage over the competition!

So much information is floating around about TYPES of interviews (what?) or secondary callback interviews, etc. Call me crazy but a job interview is a job interview no matter how you dress it up! It is a series of questions, answers and dialogue between human beings to discover if there may be a good match for employment. Everything else creates confusion.

You'll be happy to know that this GUIDE was created to give you the "MEAT and POTATOES", while leaving out the "GRAVY!" You want and need easy to understand, specific, interview tools that you can USE and that will actually make a difference in whether you get hired or not. My simple, yet powerful approach will give you the best possible chance of landing any job your heart desires!

Suddenly you find yourself on the phone with the Hiring Manager or person responsible for scheduling the interview! What do you do? Simple. This person is calling YOU to schedule a TIME and DATE for your interview. That's it. Don't make this out to be more than it is. IT'S NOT THE INTERVIEW! Remember that!! While you're on the phone making an appointment be friendly, polite, and speak clearly. At this stage of the game there is only ONE thing that should concern you. The TIME and DATE of your interview!

Schedule a Time and Date

Ok, now think about this. If you were the Hiring Manager for a company, when would you do your best interviews? When you are most alert and mentally fresh. Right? All you're after at this stage is the chance at some quality interview time - a real shot at being noticed. Instead of your interview being looked at as the "hurdle" to a hiring manager's lunch break!

Try to "steer" the interview appointment towards the morning hours right after the coffee has taken effect! (Yours or theirs!). And don't worry about suggesting another time or date over the phone. People do understand schedules and commitments. In other words, not every suggested date and time works for every person. Use this fact to your advantage!

Simply say, "Early mornings work best for me but I'll do my best to be there when it's convenient for you. I really look forward to the interview."

You've now stated your preference towards the early morning hours, and believe it or not, in most situations they WILL try to accommodate you! When you speak up politely and clearly, people respond positively. Make this work for you and do your best to schedule the interview during the hours and days YOU prefer. This also shows that you are not desperate for the interview and do have a life to attend to!

NOTE: If you can't get an appointment in the morning try scheduling it later in the afternoon. Avoid the mid-day hours. The morning coffee is wearing off and people start thinking about their lunch breaks, etc. And of course we all know what happens right after a lunch break…Zzzzzzzzzzz!

ALSO, try to schedule the interview on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. If you must, Thursdays are acceptable. Avoid Fridays if you can. Again, there is the potential for too many distractions. People like to finish their work and "get on with their weekends." It's human nature. So, make "nature" work for you not against you!
Okay, you've got an appointment for the job interview! Hopefully you had a hand in scheduling the DATE and TIME for this and now it's time to make a couple of preparations.

What Should You Wear? - I can't believe the long chapters I've read devoted to such a basic concept! My advice: Men, don't wear a tuxedo! Women, don't wear your prom dress!

Use common sense. Dress nice and keep it on the conservative side according to your field. No fashion statements need to be made at a job interview. Above all, look presentable.
You WILL Arrive On Time! - Make the choice to arrive on time for your job interview! (it IS a choice you know!) If you are constantly tardy for everything, plan ahead to make sure this doesn't happen! Set your clock forward, do whatever you must do to be on time! If you are a prompt person, keep up the good work! Enough said on this one.
Make a phone call or drive over and take a look at the company headquarters. Take a peek its web site, find out more about the business.

Pick out something specific that pertains to the position you're seeking and mention it in the interview. Something like:

"I visited your web site a few weeks ago and one of the reasons I was interested in working here is because you place such emphasis on ___________, which is something that I'm familiar with and really enjoy."

The whole point is to SHOW the person conducting your interview that you are not just another job seeker but a resourceful, interested, and motivated applicant!

Which brings us to the next INTERVIEW SECRET…
This interview secret is actually very simple, but it's powerful! It's about your understanding a basic truth. The Hiring Manager is looking to see what YOU can do for THE COMPANY. Do not make the mistake of starting most of your with the personal pronoun, "I." You'll likely come across as trivial and self-absorbed. Not a good combo!

You must incorporate a healthy dose of "YOU" this and "YOU" that! In other words put the focus on what you can do for the company! This Interview Secret is nothing more than a mind-set. The interview it is about what YOU can do for this company! The more you display this attitude and understanding the more appealing you become as a prospective employee!

One of the best ways to display this quality during an interview is to ask a few questions about the position or the company. Heck, don't hesitate to ask a specific question to the person who's interviewing you if you feel it's appropriate. He or she is also a human being with dreams, fears, families and problems just like the rest of us!
Don't!!!

Ah, Hah! You're going to LOVE my advice on this topic!

Entire books are devoted to the "Q & A" portion of a job interview. My goodness, I've even seen "flash cards," coaching services, and page after page of examples with typical questions you can expect during an interview. Not only that, they even try to provide you with the "correct" answers you should respond with! Huh?

Look, there is nothing wrong with being prepared for an interview. But I believe you can over-prepare too!

Are you ready for some shockingly simple, yet powerful interview advice? Would you like to know the one secret to handling any Questions and Answers with ease during any job interview?

I thought so!!!

This secret can be summarized in two words! And is probably the best advice you'll ever get on the topic…BE HONEST!!

That's right! The most deceptively simple advice I can give you is to be yourself and answer all the questions HONESTLY!

In a world where "image is everything" there is something so special about telling TRUTH. People can sense it, smell it and taste it! It's totally refreshing and it creates a feeling of mutual respect. And in the job-seeking arena, where it can get so fake and stuffy, the TRUTH will dazzle 'em every time. Yes, it really is that simple!

When you speak the truth, you naturally relax and the conversation flows so much better! You've got nothing to worry about even when a difficult question may arise; you handle it with ease because you speak the truth.

Why would you ever try to memorize answers to questions that haven't been asked yet? Are you trying to be someone that you aren't? Are you trying to project an image that is not you? My experience tells me this is a big waste of time and energy.

Stay in the moment and answer each question when it is asked of you. You'll learn to trust your instincts and think on your feet. And that is the most powerful way to walk into any interview! The person who does this will get the job! I guarantee it!

Be YOU, be HONEST and keep your questions and answers
in the POSITIVE! That's it!

Take a deep breath and RELAX, you'll now handle any question with ease because you will respond naturally and honestly! Isn't that a big relief?

Let everyone else sweat and stutter as they attempt to "keep it together" by trying to remember what they're "supposed" to say!
If you feel nervous the morning of the interview and you are trying to "get a hold of yourself," don't! You're just fighting a natural reaction that most people have in situations like these. Remember, most of the other applicants are feeling the same way-you're no different! Accept that you are nervous, feel it, and be happy that your central nervous system is working properly!

When you meet the person who'll be conducting your interview, here are a few simple guidelines for those first few moments.

Stand up straight, make eye contact, say hello, and shake hands in a firm and friendly manner.
Let the interviewer tell you where to be seated. Have a seat, sit up straight, make eye contact be yourself and answer the questions honestly.
Do not start the interview yourself. Let the interviewer speak first.
One good way to ease the tension you may be feeling is to memorize one simple sentence that allows you to release some of your nervous energy right from the start. Something like:

"I'm feeling a bit nervous, I think mainly because I'm very interested in working here. I probably shouldn't have had that second cup of coffee!"

A little humor like this is harmless but avoid trying to be funny!
That can definitely hurt you.

The old saying, "First impressions can make or break you" is not necessarily the absolute truth here. You've got the entire interview to make a good impression—so hang in there! Stay POSITIVE!

Again, be YOURSELF, be HONEST and let the chips fall where they may! After all, what else can possibly be expected of a person, other than to tell the truth and to be himself or herself?

Can it really be that simple?

Yes.
Here is some good basic advice with regards to the topic of money and how you can increase your chances of getting paid the most a company is willing to offer.

There are two things you should never volunteer during an interview.

One, do not introduce the salary discussion for the first time on your own! And do not let the interviewer "bait" you into discussing what you'd like to get paid. Always put the question back to the interviewer. Something like, "I'm open to salary and benefits and would like to know more about the position and what you're looking for first before answering a question regarding compensation. I'll leave that up to you."
Two, avoid talking about the salary you earned in a previous job. This is simply another way for the interviewer to get you talking about the money issue so he or she can gauge what to offer you. And believe me, companies are in business to make a profit so if they can pay you less then expected, they probably will!
Of course, this is unavoidable if you've already included salary history with your cover letter, which some companies ask for in certain situations. If this is the case, I suggest you still let the interviewer lead the way!

It is in your best financial interest to stay off the "money topic" as long as possible. You may be screened out because your compensation ideas are too high or even too low! Let the interviewer play the first hand regarding money and you've got a great chance at earning the most for that position.

When the topic of money does come up and you receive an offer for the job, remember it's much easier to negotiate upwards! But when YOU initiate the "money" conversation without really knowing all the facts you run the risk of lessening your negotiating power.
The interview is winding down and you're just about to say thank you and goodbye. Here's your chance to leave a last, and lasting impression with one simple, powerful sentence.

This is one area that you CAN prepare for in advance. Why? It is the most critical time for you to make that last positive connection with the interviewer.

If you do this one thing well, it's enough to put you over the top and land you a job! This is the final opportunity you'll have to make things happen in your favor. It is the last memory you will leave in this person's mind. So, as you exit the room and he or she jots down a few last notes, what is the freshest information stored in this person's brain regarding YOU? That's right, your well-spoken closing sentence!

Example, "Thank you very much for this interview Mr. Jones, I would really like the chance to show you and the company what I can contribute. I work hard, and I like to learn new skills, and I love this field. If you'll give me the chance, you won't regret it!"

Pretty awesome way to finish off an interview! See how simple this stuff is?
There is a reason I kept this ALL-IMPORTANT secret for the ninth slot. It ties into everything you do in the interview. I would have made it number ten but as you will see, number ten is the final step you should take AFTER the interview has already been completed.

This one secret you're about to discover is so powerful that it alone can take you anywhere you'd like to go - in life - not just in an interview. Use this secret during an interview and you'll be at the top of the list for a job offer. It's that powerful!

Can you guess what I might be talking about?

One word ... PASSION!

When you display PASSION for something, you fill the with room positive energy.

But you cannot fake true PASSION. Yes, we all have to go to work to pay our bills and put food on the table. But if you have NO passion for what you do for a living, you might want to seriously consider taking your career in a different direction.

Or, you may want take a long, hard, OPTIMISTIC look at what you could feel passionate about in your current situation.

Show the interviewer that you WANT this job! Let him or her feel your passion!

It is one of the most powerful forces on the planet for shaping our world and lives. True passion is a positive force. It is not to be mistaken for "ruthless negative energy"!

Is passion missing in your life? How do you feel about what you do and have done in your career? Is there anything there that you're passionate about? Could you find something if you looked hard enough? Perhaps you should look at it from a new perspective. Or is it time for a change?

Do you dare look for employment in a field you love? Do you dare change careers? Or, is it only about the money for you?

As you know, money alone can never make you happy. So dare to dream—to explore new job opportunities in an industry that you once thought was impossible. Take ACTION.

I know you have to pay the bills. And to do that you need to make money. So, try to find the "hidden" passion that might be eluding you in your current situation. Also, spend some of your free time exploring opportunities, which until now you've only dreamed about!

Before you go into any interview, find the one thing that you can
get PASSIONATE about! Visualize it, feel it, and show it throughout
the entire interview and you'll land any job you set your sights on!

Nothing great was ever accomplished without PASSION!

"Choose a job you love, and you will never have
to work a day in your life." - Confucius
Immediately following your interview, while it's fresh in your mind, take some notes so you can refer to them later.

Be specific. Write down the name of the person who conducted your interview, the position you're interested in, the name of the company and anything you can remember as being unique.

Now, select a date for your follow-up phone call. Base this date on when you believe the company will make the final decision. Be sure to call at least a week before. The point is to inquire whether the position has been filled, and to express your interest and availability.

Before you make this follow-up phone call, however, I suggest you write a Follow-Up letter. See the "Others" category in your ICL Creator™ to help you with yours.

The Follow-Up letter is a chance to thank the person who interviewed you, show your continued enthusiasm for the position, and your interest in further discussion by phone. Also let the employer know the day and time you'll call.

It's not enough simply to sit back and wait after a job interview is completed. Take action by following up.

Send a Follow-Up letter, make a phone call,
and let the employer know you mean business!

The FOLLOW-UP is probably the most OVER-LOOKED, UNDER-RATED aspect of the job search!!! By committing to these two simple actions of a Follow-Up letter and phone call, you are doing that extra special something that many job-seekers ignore completely!

Make sure to FOLLOW-UP!

This will give you an INSTANT advantage over the competition!
Jobs/VacanciesResume Writing Inspiration For Job Seekers by disserious(op): 1:29am On Oct 16, 2015
Congrats to all recent passed out corp members, I am very happy for you all. Although I am unable to comment on the treads.
After passing out what next? Well I have seen some NLers here whose advise is a diamond in the dust.

What brings the inspiration for this tread? Being a job seeker myself, I know what we are facing and one of the challenges is writing a well detailed CV. Even job portal like Jobberman is offering CV evaluation.

I am not in anyway against their service though, I only want to share a resource with us all;

http://www.indeed.com/resumes?isid=find-resumes&ikw=jobsearch&co=US&hl=en

The link above is a website whereby you can search for resume in your area of study, glance through it, and it can be a life saver to you through your job seeking venture.

The site provides you with countries to choose from, select your required country, your area of specialization keyword and press the search button.

I hope this will help us all to tailor our resume to best practices.

DISCLAIMER: I am not in anyway affiliated with indeed resume and I will not be hold responsible for any misuse of the information gotten from the website.

PoliticsA Curation Of Quotes By Malcolm X by disserious(op): 2:24pm On Oct 13, 2015
After tirelessly search for Malcolm X quotes on NL and reading through the forum, I could find none. Although I did find some post and comments concerning him, I cant but relate back at some of those posts;

The history of Malcolm here; https://www.nairaland.com/2581237/history-malcolm-x-great-american#37748788
and its other version here; https://www.nairaland.com/2391572/real-history-malcolm-x-no#34940834

Let me cut to the chase
“A man who stands for nothing will fall for anything.”
— Malcolm X
“Don’t be in a hurry to condemn because he doesn’t do what you do or think as you think or as fast. There was a time when you didn’t know what you know today.” — Malcolm X
“We are nonviolent with people who are nonviolent with us.” — Malcolm X
“There is no better than adversity. Every defeat, every heartbreak, every loss, contains its own seed, its own lesson on how to improve your performance next time.” — Malcolm X
“Stumbling is not falling.”
— Malcolm X
“My alma mater was books, a good library… I could spend the rest of my life reading, just satisfying my curiosity.” — Malcolm X
“They put your mind right in a bag, and take it wherever they want.” — Malcolm X
“Concerning nonviolence, it is criminal to teach a man not to defend himself when he is the constant victim of brutal attacks.”— Malcolm X
“We didn’t land on Plymouth Rock, Plymouth Rock landed on us.” — Malcolm X
“A race of people is like an individual man; until it uses its own talent, takes pride in its own history, expresses its own culture, affirms its own selfhood, it can never fulfill itself.” — Malcolm X
“If you’re not ready to die for it, put the word ‘freedom’ out of your vocabulary.” — Malcolm X
“I for one believe that if you give people a thorough understanding of what confronts them and the basic causes that produce it, they’ll create their own program, and when the people create a program, you get action.” — Malcolm X
“I feel like a man who has been asleep somewhat and under someone else’s control. I feel that what I’m thinking and saying is now for myself. Before it was for and by the guidance of Elijah Muhammad. Now I think with my own mind, sir!” — Malcolm X
“The thing that you have to understand about those of us in the Black Muslim movement was that all of us believed 100 percent in the divinity of Elijah Muhammad. We believed in him. We actually believed that God, in Detroit by the way, that God had taught him and all of that. I always believed that he believed in himself. And I was shocked when I found out that he himself didn’t believe it.” — Malcolm X
“I believe that there will ultimately be a clash between the oppressed and those that do the oppressing. I believe that there will be a clash between those who want freedom, justice and equality for everyone and those who want to continue the systems of exploitation.” — Malcolm X
“It is a time for martyrs now, and if I am to be one, it will be for the cause of brotherhood. That’s the only thing that can save this country.” — February 19, 1965 (2 days before he was murdered by Nation of Islam followers) — Malcolm X
“Without education, you’re not going anywhere in this world.” — Malcolm X
“…I shall never rest until I have undone the harm I did to so many well-meaning, innocent Negroes who through my own evangelistic zeal now believe in him even more fanatically and more blindly than I did.” — on those he encouraged to follow Nation of Islam leader Elijah Muhammad — Malcolm X
“You don’t have to be a man to fight for freedom. All you have to do is to be an intelligent human being.” — Malcolm X
“When a person places the proper value on freedom, there is nothing under the sun that he will not do to acquire that freedom. Whenever you hear a man saying he wants freedom, but in the next breath he is going to tell you what he won’t do to get it, or what he doesn’t believe in doing in order to get it, he doesn’t believe in freedom. A man who believes in freedom will do anything under the sun to acquire . . . or preserve his freedom.” — Malcolm X
“Dr. King wants the same thing I want. Freedom.” — Malcolm X
“I want Dr. King to know that I didn’t come to Selma to make his job difficult. I really did come thinking I could make it easier. If the white people realize what the alternative is, perhaps they will be more willing to hear Dr. King.” — in a conversation with Mrs. Coretta Scott King. — Malcolm X
“I am not a racist. I am against every form of racism and segregation, every form of discrimination. I believe in human beings, and that all human beings should be respected as such, regardless of their color.” — Malcolm X
I love that last quote and I did wholeheartedly dedicate it to all Racist here on NL, I refused to mention names coz you all know yourself

TravelEstonia E-residency, What The Heck Is That? by disserious(op): 5:15pm On Sep 03, 2015
I came across this online an I tried searching through the forum maybe someone may have posted something related to it, to my surprise, i did find nothing.
Hey, this is my first post here after being a ghost member for more than 3 years. I am not affiliated with Estonia ministry of interiors nor a traveling agent, so you can keep your question for MR GOOGLE, or FFK.

Here, WIRED wrote something on why you should be an e-Residence,
http://www.wired.co.uk/magazine/archive/2015/07/features/estonia-e-resident grin

Sit back, relax and find a cup of garri and epa to read from the Estonia manual for the programme.

Speaking points on the e-Residency programme launched by the Government of Estonia
Version: 2 September 2015

The Republic of Estonia is the first country to offer e-Residency - a transnational secure digital identity available to everybody in the world interested in running a location independent international business online.

e-Residents can:
Establish and administer a company online
Conduct all the banking online, e.g. make electronic bank transfers
Declare taxes online
Digitally sign contracts and any other documents (e.g. annual reports) within the company as well as with external partners
Have access to international payment service providers
All of this can be done in a cost-efficient and hassle-free way, without the need to hire any local director or representative (unless you want to, of course).

e-Residents receive a smart ID-card which enables secure digital authentication and the digital signing of documents. The digital signature and authentication are legally equal to handwritten signatures and face-to-face identification in Estonia and between partners upon agreement anywhere around the world.

The e-Resident card is not a physical ID-card or a travel document as it has no photo. Also, e-Residency does not entail citizenship, tax residency, residence permit or rights of entry to Estonia or the EU.

Estonians have been using a secure state-issued digital identity and digital services for over a decade already. Our country is nicknamed e-Estonia, as we have become one of world’s most advanced digital societies. By providing e-Residency and opening up our services globally, Estonia is now moving toward the idea of a country without borders.

The Estonian government launched e-Residency to make Estonia bigger: to grow our digital economy and market with new customers, there-by sparking innovation and attracting new investments. In addition, e-Residency makes life and business easier and more efficient for everybody who already have a business or other relation to Estonia.

Our government is developing e-Residency like a start-up. The way we launched it was fast and agile, and we are constantly working to improve and extend the offering. e-Residency is now in a public beta phase: everybody is invited to apply for it and help us cater it best to the needs of users by giving feedback.

We work with the private sector and government agencies to add new services and improve the current ones. For example, right now it still takes one face-to-face meeting to open a bank account or the help of virtual office providers to establish a company with a legal Estonian address. We plan to make these services more user-friendly soon.

We also welcome new service partners from all over the world. Do get in touch with the e-Residency team to explore ways to offer your services to our e-Resident community or make use of a trustworthy digital ID in your business.

As Estonia is globally known for advanced cybersecurity competence, we take good care to mitigate the possible risks of e-Residency. The e-Resident ID itself as well as the services are built on state of the art technological solutions (e.g. 2048-bit public key encryption). Procedures and practices are in place to ensure the safety of e-Residents’ data and limit ways for misuse.

A digital identity itself does not bring along new risks (e.g. money laundering). Instead, it makes existing risks more visible and manageable as digital footprints are easily traceable – although we will make use of it only upon suspicion. We also check the background of applicants to make sure we can trust them as future e-Residents.

We launched e-Residency on 1 December 2014. As of 2 September 2015, over 5,000 people have applied for and 4,500 have received the digi-ID. In addition, there are over 20,000 potential e-Residents who have signed up to our newsletter.

Starting in May 2015, it is possible to apply for e-Residency online and once the application is approved, just one face-to-face meeting is required to get the card.

To start, go to our website (e-resident.gov.ee), fill in the online application, upload your document photo and a photo of your identity document, state your reason for applying and pay a 50 euro state fee. The reason we ask about the motivation is to have an overview of who applies for e-Residency. We also want to manage the risks and conduct the necessary background checks to prevent misuse of the digital identity.

Once your application has been submitted, wait for the result of your background check, which should take about 10 working days. Once your application is approved, you will be invited to your chosen pick-up location to identify yourself, give fingerprints and collect your e-Resident smart ID-card (it comes with a card reader). The whole process should not take more than a month, but may vary based on demand and pickup location.

You can pick up the card from our foreign representations (embassies and consulates) in 34 countries around the world or the Police and Border Guard Board service points in Estonia. The Estonian honorary consuls do not issue e-Residency and we do not currently plan to expand the number of pick-up locations.

The e-Residency application process is the result of an exceptional cross-governmental collaboration between the Ministry of the Interior and its IT and Development Centre, Police and Border Guard Board, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Estonian embassies and consulates worldwide, Ministry of Finance, Information System Authority, Office of the President of the Republic of Estonia, Government Office of the Republic of Estonia, Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications, Enterprise Estonia and others.

Since the launch of e-Residency, we have received a vast amount of positive feedback. We have learned that people from around the world see e-Residency as an opportunity to fulfil their dreams, venture across the borders, and become free from bureaucracy.

Our vision is to offer every world citizen, regardless of nationality or location, a hassle-free way to run a trusted company online. Then e-Estonia could be a community of 10 million e-Residents by 2025 - if not more smiley

With e-Residency, you can become part of the digital society revolution taking place in our dynamic Northern European country. You can become an e-Estonian!
