What Is a Trading System?
A trading system is simply a group of specific rules, or parameters, that determine entry and exit
points for your trade. These points, known as signals, are often marked on a chart in real time
and will prompt you to pull the trigger.

Patience
Making a lot of money in the markets is one of the most exciting experiences
you can have in your professional life. I’ve done it in two ways, making
thousands of percentage gains each time. The first was probably more luck than
judgment. The latter was by using skills that took time to develop. Take time to
decide on your strategy (I we talk about it later, “Putting It All Together—
A Call to Action,” and “Trading with the OVI”) and nurture your
kills. There comes a time when you feel at one with the markets and trade only
when the most obvious of opportunities stares you in the face. When you are
able to turn down substandard opportunities with a shrug of the shoulder, you’ll
know you’ve arrived.
If you’re new to all of this, take your time. Think about it this way: Would
you consider yourself able to do brain surgery after just one tutorial? Well, the
same applies to trading, and even more so for options trading (although the
same principles apply). Give yourself time to learn. By reading this book, you
are doing just that, giving yourself a learning opportunity. If you’re already
familiar with stocks, this is the next step. And just as you had to get comfortable
with trading stocks at first, you also now have to get comfortable with trading
Forex.
Furthermore, when you are comfortable enough to trade, you need to have
patience to do the trading itself. We’ve all had the experience of jumping into
an investment too early even when we weren’t quite convinced it was the right
thing to do. Be patient, take a deep breath if you have to, and stick to your
trading plan every time.
Finally, patience also involves selecting a trading strategy where time works
in your favor and where your downside is covered. There are plenty of strategies
for you to choose from in this course, but you can always elect to keep things
simple. Regardless of which one you choose, always wait for the right opportunity
to present itself. I stick to a couple of chart patterns to trade, and if they’re
not showing up, I don’t need to trade. People who specialize make the most
money. So, specialize in terms of what you trade.
Be patient in your attitude to acquiring wealth. The more patient you are in
this way, the better off you will be. This doesn’t mean sitting back and doing
nothing that’s apathy, not patience. Give yourself time to learn, gain
experience, and then start to apply what you learn consistently so that you begin
a process of making money and building wealth.
Consistent with the art of patience is embracing the concept of
compounding. If you can make just 1 percent per week, this would mean more
than 67 percent in just one year, a record of which any fund manager would be
envious.
This table is here to remind you about the need to be patient. Allow your returns
to accumulate, and let compounding do its work for you.
Perseverance
Keep going. If you believe in something, you have to keep at it until you reach
your goal. And once you’ve reached your goal, set another target.
Having embarked on the goal of becoming a successful trader (whether fulltime
or part-time), you must stick to it in order to get there. Anyone can do it.
I’ve seen it time and time again with my students, where sometimes the most
unlikely characters become phenomenal traders—even those who don’t think
they can. To be practical, give yourself attainable targets to reach in a realistic
time frame. So by next week, you’ll be fully familiar with the four main options
risk profiles. You may be able to do it tonight. Keep on setting the attainable
targets (do make them a slight challenge, though), and in this way you’ll be
able to keep up the momentum of learning and gaining experience. You’ll also
start to build up your confidence as you go along, reassuring yourself of your
ability to understand anything you put your mind to. This book will help you in
building your confidence because it’s a practical book and it’s easy to follow and
understand. So keep going, and enjoy the process of accumulating.
Knowledge
Having established the need for patience for both acquiring the knowledge and
for trading itself, let’s remember that knowledge is attainable now with such
ease and speed that it is eminently achievable in a reasonably quick time. Tools
exist now to simulate the trading experience, and there are myriad publications
and web sites designed to help you build your knowledge database.
The best knowledge comes from experience. It’s all very well to say, “Trade
mechanically,” but very few people do. Emotions are part of our beings, so
rather than ignore them, it’s more constructive to work around them. That’s
what my trading plan is all about—staying safe, but still being able to play for
the big wins. Mindset is also key, and that’s covered in Chapter 10, “Trading
and Investing Psychology.”
Remember that learning is experience-based. We can all remember the most
extreme of our teachers at school, right? You can recall the funniest, the scariest,
the smelliest, the prettiest, and the ugliest, but I’ll bet you have a problem
remembering anything about the teachers who were somewhere in the middle—
those who barely made an experiential impact on you in years of being in the
same classroom.
The same applies to trading. A lot of the learning involved in trading is
experience-based. In fact, the most pertinent form of learning about trading is
experience-based. It’s through the extreme experiences that you find more out
about yourself in good times and bad. Most brilliant traders have had terrible
experiences but, crucially, have stepped back up to the plate and applied what
they learned. Just like me. I made a lot of money very fast, thought I was invincible,
and then promptly gave some of it back again. Trust me, I didn’t feel too
good about that, but I did learn. And more importantly, I applied the lessons.
So, allow yourself to get your experience, which is what this book and my
workshops are all about. Ultimately I’m sure you’ll end up coming back to the
simplicity that’s contained in my trading plan.

Lesson 1 – Hard Work and Talent are over-rated traits. What you need INSTEAD is something else
Surprised?
Don’t be.
You know in our schools and colleges, there is a lot of focus on these 2 attributes.
But real life is different.
When you walk out of college, you would see countless hard working and talented people wasting away their lives in obscurity.
Take my own example.
There are so many traffic experts, website developers, old school copywriters who are WAY more talented and hard working than me.
Yet I make 10X – 100X of what they make.
What happened to all their talent and hard work?
I don’t mean to be a jerk but you need to know the truth.
While talent and hard work are GREAT qualities to possess, they are NOT the holy-grail for success.
What is really needed for success are these 6 critical attributes.
Attribute #1 – Vision
You need to have a larger purpose for what you want to achieve in life.
Without a vision, massive success is just not possible.
When I got started online, I had no vision. I just wanted to make $100,000 per year.
However during my journey, I understood the power of having a deep rooted vision which is what allowed me take my business to great heights.
Attribute #2 – Inclination to seize good opportunities and GO FOR IT
Most people are forever stuck in the “I am yet to decide” mode.
You can analyze an opportunity 20,000 times but you can only succeed when you take a call and go for it.
Sometimes after the basic analysis is done, you can ONLY find out if something works or not by DIVING IN.
If you want real results in life, then you need to develop a GO GETTER attitude.
This is NOT optional but totally essential for your success.
Attribute #3 – Goal setting and planning
Once you decide on a venture, the next step is all about setting SPECIFIC goals along with the timeframe needed to achieve them.
Then you must put together a detailed plan of action to achieve your goals.
This is what separates the MEN from the boys.
Anyone can watch a few videos and get pumped up.
But those who put their heads down and work out an actionable plan are those who are going to achieve success.
Always remember that.
Attribute #4 – Execution
Execution is something that is SO DIFFERENT from hard work.
Spending 3 hours a day thinking and writing the perfect email is HARD WORK.
Spending 15-30-45 minutes crafting a good email and then moving on to the next job is SOLID EXECUTION.
Spending 5-10 hours to get the perfect looking presentation is HARD WORK.
Spending a few hours putting together a good quality presentation without needlessly worrying about whether it looks perfect or not is SOLID EXECUTION.
Are you seeing the point?
It does not matter how hard you work each day?
What matters is HOW MUCH YOU EXECUTE each day.
People who are successful EXECUTE a lot.
And you know what, when you start executing tasks in a streamlined way, you don’t have to work so hard.
You just have to find out what kind of work is needed to get the most results and just laser focus on getting it done FAST.
Attribute #5 – Proactive Approach
The ability to take a proactive approach is a very very under-rated attribute.
Once you set a plan in motion, you will run into issues.
No question about it. It will happen for sure.
You WILL run into problems.
If you want your plans to succeed, you need to be making constant proactive changes so that your small problems don’t turn into big ones.
This way you can avoid major setbacks and be on track to achieve your goals in the set timeframe.
This is something that 99% of the marketers don’t do and they sadly pay the price for it.
Don’t ever let things get out of control before tackling them.
Be always wary of small problems as they could turn into BIG unmanageable problems if not given the proper attention.
Attribute #6 – Brutally honest analysis of your results and corrective action when things go wrong
Sometimes even with the most solid plan and a proactive approach, we may not get our desired results.
This is where a brutally honest analysis is needed.
Sometimes you may have to change up your strategy completely.
Sometimes you may have to change your product offering.
Sometimes you may have to rework your entire funnel.
Doing a brutally honest analysis of your flopped campaigns is not hard.
Accepting the reality IS.
But those who want to succeed accept the reality fast and take corrective actions.
I can’t tell you how many flop moments I have had in my business.
But I just get up, brush it off and ask myself “what’s next” and get on with that.

Lesson 2 – Choose The Right Products To Promote
If you really want to build a multi-million dollar business, you need to choose the right kind of products that can help you get there.
You need to choose products that provide TRANSFORMATIVE VALUE for your customers.
When your product can provide that, you can charge big bucks like $1000 or $5000 or $10,000 or more for it.
And when you have the ability to make $1000 or more from each sale, you will find it FAR MORE easier to profit from your paid marketing campaigns.
This makes SCALING your campaigns fast and easy.
Ideally speaking, its better to have a series of high quality products ranging from $10 to $50,000+.
This allows you to penetrate the widest segment in your market and maximize revenues.
Lesson 3 – Know Your Business Numbers
Do you know what’s your average customer value?
Do you know what’s the MAXIMUM amount you can spend on a lead after which you would start losing money?
Do you know the EPC (earnings per click) of your campaigns for a particular traffic source?
These are business numbers that you need to be knowing.
Here’s why its so important.
In MOBE, my average customer value is $1500 odd.
That means if anyone buys any of the MOBE products, he is worth $1500 to me over the course of time.
That means I can spend even $250 or $300 or even $500 to get an MTTB sale (which is worth $49).
Since I know my business numbers, I can confidently keep paying that amount to acquire a customer (because I know I would get a handsome ROI on that eventually).
This KNOWLEDGE allows me to scale with confidence and get results EVERY TIME.
Here’s another stat of mine.
My list size is around $120,000 odd.
Every month, I pull in around $800,000 odd.
That means my average subscriber is worth $6 per month to me which translates into $72 per year.
What does that tell you?
It tells you that EVEN if I pay $10 or $20 per subscriber, I can make GREAT PROFITS.
I don’t have to pay that amount but I can because my business numbers are THAT good.
Since my business numbers are THAT good, I can confidently splash a LOT of money on advertising to get massive traffic and grow my business fast.
Do you now see the power of knowing your business metrics?
Its NOT for showing off.
Its for knowing whether you are on track or not.
Its for knowing how much you can spend to acquire a customer.
These stats are the backbone of your business.

Vlogging. Uploading new videos and then using them to create a Video Blog can be very time consuming.

Affiliate Reviews. When you create an affiliate review and encourage people to click on your link to find out more, the link you provide needs to link to a website.

YouTube does not allow direct links to affiliate products.

Setting up your affiliate website and optimising it for best results, again, can be time consuming.

Know what doesn’t take skill? Pasting the phrase “left handed golf clubs” over & over throughout your article. Use keywords enough for search engines to gauge the topic, but not more than that.
A good rule-of-thumb: words & phrases that are core to what an article is about should appear in the article, but you shouldn’t have more than 2-4 occurrences of an exact word or phrase.
Try to use it once in the first 50-100 words, again in the last paragraph, and 1-2 times per 500 words when appropriate. Otherwise, use synonyms, alternate words & phrases, etc.
“Long tail keywords” – keywords consisting of 3 or more discrete words – are golden.

Page Title
This is the most important single element of your article. Use your titles intelligently – use a unique title for each page, and put your keyword at the front of your title, then describe your page in a concise way.
Header Tags
Headers give search engines a good idea of what’s most important on a page, and they make it easier for real people to mentally organize your content. Most competently written themes will automatically put your page title in H1.
You should also use ‘sub-headings’ liberally to organize your content; do this using H2 tagged subheadings.
Images
You want to have one or two in every article – they really bring your website to life and give it an air of professionalism. More to the point, they are critical to the search engines. You can name your file name and alt tag using the keyword, just remember that it does count towards your overall keyword density. Most people don’t think about images or how easy they are to get.
Maybe the simplest thing to do is grab some free images off the web. Sites like Morguefile and sXc.hu are brimming with free commercial images. It also won’t hurt you to visit a big site like
Flickr and find creative commons images – sites like Cracked.com use citations and credits for all of their images, and it doesn’t hurt their professionalism a bit.
Second, you can open up a paint program or image editor and type some text in… play around with fonts, text size, and italics to give it a stylized look. A look at amazing graphical resources like http://www.brusheezy.com and http://www.dafont.com should give you enough dazzling backgrounds to keep you occupied for a long time.
Finally, there are so many free generators for infographics and statistics that your head will swim. If your site can make use of statistics (health, weight loss, money management) then this is really worth throwing a look at. Gliffy.com is my favorite one, but visual.ly, wordle.com, and Google’s Public Data Explorer are all useful.

Engage
You know who never gets any action at the singles bar? The guy or gal who sits in the corner and stares listlessly into space. If you aren’t engaging the opposite sex, and letting them know who you are, then you might as well wear a “nothing interesting here, move along” shirt.
In the online world, our headlines work the same way.
It doesn’t matter what your article is like unless you can grab a little attention. People are skeptical, and there’s a lot of garbage out there. Picture that after EVERY sentence, the person reading is going to stop, hover over the X button, and ask themselves “should I keep reading this”?
Engage them with a provocative title, an interesting sentence, or a compelling question. Generally, people have an interest in:
Dangers they should avoid.
Products they should buy.
Numbered lists.
Ways to save time and money.
Negativity. Things that are bad, things that suck, people that are bad or in bad situations.
Extended metaphors. Why something is like something else.
Rapport
There’s nothing worse than going out with someone who only talks about themselves. People want to be around people that care about their problems and want them to succeed. In real life, we can show our interest by looking someone in the eye, smiling warmly, and listening well.
Here, you create rapport with the reader by introducing a problem they’re having and explaining how your product can fix it.

Open Up
Relationships aren’t just about smiling, introducing yourself, and making Googly eyes. And they aren’t just about whispers and passion, either. The vast majority of a good first date is pretty mundane – learning about a person and finding out whether they fit into your life. As you open up to them, they’ll open up to you.
Spend 2-3 paragraphs giving a solution to the reader, and rewarding them for making that click. Don’t just throw together three bland paragraphs - try and organize them in a way that is coherent and tells a story. There are three basic ways to do this:
1. What are the most dramatic problems facing people who use this product? If it’s snowboarding supplies, it’s probably being cold and getting wet. Talk about the most urgent problems and then slowly go to more aesthetic things.
2. What’s the most unique feature of this product? If everybody wants to know about something right off the bat, don’t deny them.
3. Go “outside in”… start talking about the design, cosmetic features, and exterior of the product. Then discuss the details on the inside that make it work.
Titillate
Sexy writing and sexy interactions in real life have something in common, and that’s that they’re devious. Plenty of people have “nice” dates, but if you aren’t getting your hooks in and being seductive WHILE you’re having your “normal” date, they just won’t find you interesting.
Be colorful and inject your own personality into your writing. In most niches, you aren’t uncovering brand new information as much as you are packaging it in a way new customers can identify. You don’t need to get in the way of the information, but you do need to be interesting.
You can also start sprinkling in your credentials, and the credentials of your sources, or your personal story. As you write, it’s important to sound like you know what you’re talking about, and have a deep appreciation for the subject your site is about. Intelligent asides are a way of reminding people that you’re a real person that’s opinionated and experienced.
