Politics / Katakata In Ekiti State. by Djeresa(m): 3:15pm On Oct 12, 2006
The impeachment process against Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayo Fayose, and his deputy, Chief (Mrs) Biodun Olujimi, walked into a constitutional crisis yesterday as the House of Assembly suspended the state Chief Judge, Justice Kayode Bamisile, for alleged corrupt practices and insubordination.
The house i learnt immediately appointed Justice Jide Aladejana as acting chief judge of the state.
The suspension was, however, dismissed as unconstitutional by Fayose and Bamisile who said, under the 1999 Constitution, only the governor could remove a chief judge with the support of two-thirds majority of the House.
The House had at its yesterday session asked the chief judge to step aside for allegedly collecting N15million bribe from a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) to grant an injunction, ex parte, against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Nigeria is a country where the impossible is possible, how do u see the development in Ekiti state which claims to be the fountain of knowledge. Is this a display of knowledge or a display of rascality, ?Who has the power to appoint and sack a judge? In this situation is the acting chief judge superior to a serving chief judge?

Politics / Night Masquerades by Djeresa(m): 2:59pm On Sep 10, 2006
The recent revelations about the person and office of the vice president by the EFCC is a welcome development. During the first term of the obasanjo regime, Atiku Abubakar was busy buying and doing all sorts of business all in the name of privatisation. In most developed and advanced countries, he would have resigned by now but Nigerians are not known for that except when and if they were trained overseas thanks to Okonjo-iweala. If all we read in the papers and all we heard in the news are anything to go by, Atiku should cover his head in shame and disgrace. EFCC is still coming with other reports soon and Nigerians would be surprised to hear that FIVE governors are big thieves who need no mercy.Enough is enough in this country, we have all it will take to be the greatest in the world but some devils and even men will not allow us and the future generations enjoy our rights to life.If a VP can be so callous to gather the nations wealth in his account then we need prays. Obasanjo must be encouraged to save this nations from these night masquerades who are bent on milking this country dry. 2007 is not for people who are thieves or roques. We have also heard on good records that some of these governors are getting ready to escape abroad before may 2007, anyway we shall see how they do it. Nigeria belongs to all of us and no human can hold us and future generations down.
Politics / Technocrats Not Politicians For 2007 by Djeresa(m): 1:27pm On Sep 06, 2006
Nigeria is a blessed country and her people are talented and well cultured. However, recent and past events show that some people are not meant to be in power in Nigeria. Am not an advocate of regional presidency or tribal politics here.It seems to me that the old politicians and their co-travelers are the main problem of Nigeria. The new breed of Nigerian politicians(Technocrats) seem to be better positioned now  to build a virile and strong Nigeria. It is on record that people like Mallam Nasir El Rufai, Prof (Mrs) Dora Nkem Akunyili,Dr (Mrs) Obiageli Ezekwesili, Dr (Mrs) Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and even Mallam Nuhu Ribadu who are not politicians(Technocrats) so to say, are the ones making headways in The Project called Nigeria, none of the old breeds politicians have been able to meet the standards set by these nigerians either before now or even during the time these records were set.
It is ironical to hear and see old fashioned and ideal deficient old politician who still want to pour out their rancid ideals and way of doing things. It is high time we allowed the technocrats lead us and lets see a new nigeria.
A new nigeria where every body would be proud to be called a nigerian.
A new nigeria where nations of the world will respect and not downplay us
A new nigeria whose leader understand world politics and intrigues.
A new Nigeria that will be seen by all to have paid its dues in international arena
A new nigeria where no child will go to bed hungry
Howbeit, the old politicians have tried their very best and in my view need not pollute the the system the more as we approach 2007. It is said that, the past affects the present and even the future, but since we have understood our past and at present combating the present, those that rubbish the past should not be part of those that want to repair the present and put right the future, let those that know the theory and practice of governance put us in the right path.
Politics / Re: Has Anyone Considered Ibori For President? by Djeresa(m): 3:56pm On Aug 16, 2006

Politics / Has Anyone Considered Ibori For President? by Djeresa(m): 3:39pm On Aug 16, 2006
Chief james onanefe ibori is a well known name in nigerian politics. However, those from the south-south are carrying on as if he does not exist.James ibori has done more for the south-south region than the rest governors in the region put together.James ibori has sacrificed a lot during and after the resource control tussle. If elected as president, he may give nigeria the path way to actualise true federalism and true democracy.
