From MY EXPERIENCE as a partner; if you are PAYING REGULARLY and as at WHEN DUE; relationship is easy to maintained..Na money partner want, once you dey pay no wahala..
The truth is, your relationship with your partner don dey get k-leg before the issue of the engine came up...What he did was actually what he's been planning to do and the opportunity present itself, he grabbed it..I will do the same..
Three years ago, I collected a Corolla from my driver, I simply told him that I needed to use the car for an event for the weekend, he brought the car on a Saturday and I sold it on Monday!! Relationship end!!!
To be frank, why I am not absolving some partner, I honestly do not see any reason why a driver should not be ABLE TO PAY 35K per week, EASILY...I make average of 12-15k driving to island from mainland Monday to Friday and I still do my 8 to 5pm work..I can easily take a HP and I will COMPLETE IT without default, once the car is in good shape...Some of you just hate to pay what you owe...My former driver confided in someone that he doesn't know what his partner (ME) dey take money do, according to him, am working, my wife is working, I have a small family and I don't have bukata, unlike him with so many responsibility...Let us be responsible with our obligation..

I didn’t default him prior to the 3 weeks the car had engine issue… I was paying regularly and when due… I have family to feed and ofcos it’s my first experience on the hustle

Tell him you will pay back 40k weekly against 30k so that the remaining part of the engine repair and the HP deal can run concurrently. Don't let anybody instigate you to go and fight him or report to police o. You have no agreement where it was stated you will let him repair his car when it breaks down but you did.

The deed has been done. If you have anything, if na to borrow from your In-laws, bros borrow. This is Surging months, you can with dedication as na new engine be able to meet the 40k weekly agreement. Then try to pay upfront if you have the means. Leave enjoyment for now.

Yes I have, I have family to feed. If I give All my earnings to d car owner how would I have fed my family… I still have 10 months to go on the contract before the engine issue… and like I said I just paid my house rent before the car had issues if not I will have had small something to have done the car prior to the 3 weeks it used at my mechanic place… but it’s advises I want and the next step I can take… I have gone to beg him with my family members and he said I should look for the money if

How did u think u will pay for a Corolla for 3years without having a major repairs before finishing the contract?
If u had put this into consideration and kept money aside for contingency u would have had enough savings or part to fix ur car properly.
I always say ringing corolla engine while using it for ehailing is a waste of money. If u do it, then plan to buy engine in d next 2months.

I have given my advise already, u can't give me any justifiable reason why u couldn't pay 3.2m in 2years with a sound corolla, Irrespective of your agreement (except it was a problematic car) and also didn't have money in your account/cooperative/Ajo to fix ur car before partner collected it. It's one of the two, if I get a HP on 25/30k I would certainly have enough money in my account should anything happen, I am covered. Or I pay way more than the agreed sum and complete my payment before partner can say jack Robinson.

If it was a problematic naija used car that ur partner gave u, then u have reason to talk hard with ur partner and collect your car back but if he gave u a sound toks/clean corolla, then u have driven the life of the car with nothing to fall back on. That's on u.

3.2m; At 30k weekly u ought to have completed payment of that car by now even if u didn't make any down payment. Still having 800k to balance shows u had alot of defaults.
Not having money to fix your car or to add to what partner has to the extent that partner will come and carry it from your mechanic and buy engine in the car is not good at all.
It shows unseriousness on your part. He is kind to ask you to bring the money he has used to buy the engine, some other partners will activate the default clause in your agreement and the rest is history.
The mistake u made was allow him take possession of the car and he repaired it without an agreement with u.
Milk has been spilled now, my guess is he knows u can't raise that money and u will forfeit the car. But if he really wants you to handle the car again and complete your payment he will come to a compromise, but u must show serious commitment. You have to gather minimum half of that money and give to him and propose a concrete repayment plan of the balance to run side by side with your 30k weekly payments.
I personally will not accept adding the 800k for engine to the 800k left thereby prolonging the payment period without interest or benefit to me.
Come up with a 40/50k weekly payment In addition to the part lump sum for the engine to offset all debts. If he doesn't accept then involve other people,(family friends, church/mosque) and lastly the police because he is being unreasonable. Afteral, u didn't ask him to fix the car for u. But my guess is u didn't make any concrete move before he collected the car and u have defaulted already. So now it's by begging and not by force. Police case should be the last resort. Cos ones u involve Police there is forever bad blood between u both and u don't even know if the matter will sumasault on your head, don't forget u are in Nigeria where Judges and Police work for the highest bidder.

Was doing 25k for 15 months before i change it to 30k… I have only defaulted him 5 weeks in total when I was hospitalized 2 weeks early 2022 and 3 weeks when the car was at my mech place when I wanted to ring it… infact I was already bought what I wanted to ring it with before the owner said he doesn’t want me to ring it that he prefers another engine

I wouldn't say he is unserious tho as I don't know the kind of responsibilities he has on his shoulder but the part he said he has been driving the car for 2years and a month, I really don't know how he hasn't completed the payment yet, normally, paying 30k weekly will only take him roughly 107 weeks to complete the 3.2m, and 107 weeks is approximately 2years and 3weeks so I really don't understand how he still have 800k left to balance...

I started with 25k I just changed to 30k after 15 months to quickly complete it… I only defaulted 3 weeks cos the car was with my mech when I wanted to ring the engine

My advice, try meet people close to him to talk to him, let them beg him that you will pay the money he spent on the engine by adding it to your balance...

It will be blinking oil check and you should have parked the car immediately.

Boss ofcos I know all these signs and I don’t joke with it… infact when my alternator showed battery sign along Ore road, I packed immediately and find solutions to it… maybe the oil light wasn’t functioning I wouldn’t have known bro I don’t use any signs to play… I’m not just driving today boss… my balance was just 800 to go out of 3.2M

1. The day you signed HP, the car and its problem becomes your property. Your first mistake was to allow the owner buy a new engine.

2. Although you're at fault here but I will advice you look for money like 250 to 450k, go to the police and give them 50k to invite your partner, not for threat or arrest but on the ground of resolution that you should pay the 200 to 400k now and spread the rest on your HP.

3. If luck shines on you, keep your mouth shut on damages and fix things yourself now that you understand whom you're dealing with.

Thank you sir, it’s just d money that’s the issue, even I had tried to see if I could lend from pple but to no avail, I paid my house rent weeks before d car engine got knocked and I was already buying stuff for me to ring it… I just wanna know if I go on with d police invitation can I still collect the car while I spread the balance on my HP plan

I'm sorry to ask....cos this isn't the solution/answer to your question, but it will lead to my advice for you! How will you be driving a car till the engine knocked? You don't check oil or what? Do you just wake up in the morning, start car and move?

I didn’t get any sign whatsoever infact the car was moving well till I got to oworo and the car movement began moving sluggishly… before I knew it I heard grounding sounds… d culprit was oil pump not flowing the oil at regular places so one of the metal had grinded… my car was always in top shape and I don’t joke with my maintenance
