Well I also don't know. I don't think it's for the guys who just did A.C. tho. I guess its for the first set of AC last year. But then I don't know for sure, it's what the representative told me. Divami: I don't understand the "no batch after this" part. What about the people that just had their assessment? |
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: 2016 Firstbank Graduate Trainee Programme by dkingskid: 7:26pm On Feb 15, 2018 |
So FBN called me last night and asked if I can resume TS today or tomorrow. A day's notice? Who does that. I asked to be moved to the next batch, but I was told there might be no other batch after this.
My company requires a 3 months' notice to properly resign, at best - a month. Asking me to resign overnight and resume with you is highly unprofessional, even if it's a graduate trainee position.
Well, there's good news. I got a much better offer from another firm and I'll be joining them in a month. So it's all good for me in the end.
I wish everyone on this thread all the best, from those who have made it through TS, to those who are yet to be called for AC. Be rest assured that if it's meant for you, no one can take it from you.
Cheers! |

Hideki: let them send us the TS mail na so that one can comfortably be sure of the batch and also take some concrete steps...I think we should call him this week I don't think that's wise bruh. I also need to be sure so as to know how to plan my exit properly. But calling him is one step too far. These are professionals. So we should also act professionally. |

Any News? @saqo @dkingskid @cutemorriz....to resign from my current place of work dey hungry me like gala ...and for the records I was seriously ill when I had my medicals... LMAO. Your illness has nothing on the medicals, so theres nothing to worry abt. As for related news, we are likely to be scheduled with the jan 8 batch. That's the inkling i got from the HCMD guy during documentation. |

Nchabuomo: Don't come and say what you DON'T know! Medical is just a formality so no-one can fail it. FBN employs even if you are combining 2 results. So I don't think people would have issues with that. Please don't come and give people unnecessary High BP or be spreading misinformation! If you did documentation and medical DON'T worry, if FBN said there was a glitch, who are YOU to say there wasn't? lol. Medical is not a formality bruh. People fail it. Not saying this to make you or anyone else lose hope anyway. Just trying to correct the seeming wrong notion you have about it. Cheers! |

OkunrinMeta: I understand how we have to be "realistic". One can only be impressed if first bank gives like 3 months notice. But ....what is right is right.
So maybe i owe someone an apology.
But before that, let me ask you, if the experience at the place you resigned was 2-3 years, would you have acted the-same way? Should you now have to pull thesame stunt to join first bank and how would you explain the gapS in your CV if you do? To start with, i never said FBN shld give a 1or 3 months notice, like I said it's an entry level opposition so one can understand if no notice is given at all. I was only explaining generally why it is important to resign properly, but this is NL, so it's expected for people to run their mouths. On if I would have left if my experience was 2 to 3 years? Yes!. Fam it was a small startup company with a ridiculous pay, Trust me, you'd leave too. I might have taken the job experience from my CV, but I ddn't take it out of my head. What i learnt will stay with me forever. |

The issue of resigning 'properly' cannot be over emphasized. My current employers gave me 3 days to assume office and I hadnt dropped any prior notice at my previous place of work. I had to resign effective immediately, forfeiting a month's salary anyway, but of course it ddn't go down well with them. I got a formal letter stating that my resignation wasn't accepted and I would be denied any recommendations in the future.
Good thing was my present employers ddn't bother abt this when i showed them the letter, (just in case they decide to perform a bad ground check at any point in time).I was made to understand that the position was an entry level position, and as such it was assumed I had never worked anywhere. Fair enough money, but now I can't put the experiemce in my cv, cos u can never tell which company will conduct a background check. Naso 1 year work experience waste.
The truth is, no employer likes an effective immediately resignation, despite the forfeiture of one's salary. Appropriate time is expected to be given for a proper handover of all documents to the firm and for the firm to hire a replacement. So it's not impossible for one to get a bad recommendation from such employers when the need arises. In the big 4s, u must drop a month's notice as an associate and from senior level, 3 months. U no even get choice.
But then there's really nothing anyone can do about it, the FBN job is an entry level job, so we are not expected to have worked anywhere, hence the short notice (which is still not right anyways), but na naija we dey, so we not gats accept am like that. |

cloud9usher: Its funny seeing people in the previous pages making a go and bickering over how those who haven't gotten invites for documentation should forget about it and look elsewhere, yeah I know some people didn't state it directly but the subtle ways lots of people ridiculed people hoping for documentation invites all in the name of "telling people the hard truth" is utterly appalling!
Well, its not surprising because the average Nigerian feels better when he/she seemingly thinks or presumes he is better than another person and hence why you can see people subtly mocking others who haven't gotten documentation invites.
I know my purpose, worth and career goals so such puerile comments have no effect on me, I only feel it for those who don't have a job doing at the moment or holding on tight to hope fully fixed on FBN whom such comments would weigh down. Don't stop hoping, but live as well.
I will say it again, there will be more invites for documentation over time, this is not guesswork or me trying to give false hope, the only issue is that some people might wait for a while more than others, quote me anywhere concerning this claim. So guys still expecting should first of all know that by God's grace you'd still get in, and according to FBN plans, admission into training school would come in batches/phases over a long period of time.
And also, if at the end of the day you still don't get a chance at working with FBN, don't be in dismay, chase 10,20,30 other jobs with the same zeal and commitment you put it for this FBN job which got you all the way to the assessment center stage and I bet you that you'd get your goal achieved soonest.
"Great minds have purposes; others have wishes. Little minds are tamed and subdued by misfortune; but great minds rise above them." ~ Washington Irving (1783-1859) You couldnt have said it better fam. Irritating attitudes on display cos u got called and some others haven't. Fine you've gotten your documentation mail, goodluck to you, move on and allow others who are waiting, wait in peace. |
