I pity policemen who follow convoys of politicians and VIPs. Most especially those in the Toyota Hilux they normally use. They fail to understand that they are in a kill box and it takes nothing for a well timed ambush to wipe them all out.

An attack coming from the front has already reduced the line of sight of the policemen at the back of the Hilux by over 40%. If they pop out their head to see which direction the fire is coming from, they get picked off.

Those inside the Hilux are even worse off. There's little room to properly aim and fire plus you are taking incoming and accurate fire targeted at you. The driver of the Hilux may take a hit and the vehicle becomes immobile. So there you are, armed in a kill box and in a kill zone but useless and helpless. As multiple rounds pierce your body, you are surprised that the so called bullet proof the police division gave you, is nothing but hardened plastic.

As you close your eyes for the last time, drawing your last breath, thoughts of your family flash across your mind. They will be lucky to even see any of your emoluments. They will be lucky to be compensated for your death and even then, they'll not see more than half a million at most.

The politician you lost your life for trying to protect, has written to State HQ for replacement officers to be sent. They will be on their way even before your body gets cold.

It is sad isn't it? You had spent your years in service boasting to terrified civilians that you will kill them and nothing will happen. What meeting is he holding by that time? More importantly, what solutions have his staying awake till 3am wrought? It is over 3 weeks now and yet the school children in Oyo are still being held in deep dangerous forests by their kidnappers.

It is wickedness to keep a man who clearly lacks what it takes to preside over the affairs of Nigeria campaigning to remain in office. I have nothing against the president but I know that no one his age can be up to the task of ruling this country. At a time, Buhari couldn't even understand the documents he was signing. His age had depleted him. We all saw it. We are seeing similar signs in the current president. And yet those close to him don't care about him enough to advise him that it is time to spend his remaining years in rest.

You are aware that all 5 red earth hamlets you call Igbo states when combined are still smaller than Benue state right? I have come to the realisation that the Igbo assume themselves to be better and above other ethnic groups in Nigeria and they try to lord it over other tribes. This was one of the triggers of the civil war. The Igbo dominated civil service across all the states. The Igbo were the majority of civil servants in Kano as at then. Nigeria opened up to them but same cannot be said of them opening up to others.

The economic life in Nigeria benefits the Igbo mostly and this is because other ethnic groups allow them to freely settle and operate. Where then is the angst coming from?

Politics is a game of numbers and association across board. Somehow, Peter Obi realises that and tries to reach across as much as he can. And Nigerians have embraced him massively. Plateau state alone gave Peter Obi more votes than any Igbo state! So where is the angst coming from?

The Igbo needs Nigeria more than Nigeria needs them. No one should be blinded to this.
