Some breeds are known with certain features like Caucasian, cane Corso, pitbull and doberman pincher with their cropped ears but in reality they are not born like that but undergo cosmetic surgery which in many cases like in Nigeria very painful but can also be done without pain. I believe just like a normal surgery humans go through.
In Nigeria a child born with 6 fingers has a thread tied around it till it drops off don't know how it's done now.
I had a recent experience with my cane Corso and wanted it to have it have the look. Trust me I almost

We are humans..... we are higher than every other animal...if ear cropping or tail docking is considered barbaric or cruel....then what will chopping their head off, cooking and eating them be classified as..

We have domesticated some sets of animals and class them as man's best friend. Are other animals lesser than dogs?...by all mean NO!

What u hold dear to ur heart maybe what I don't give a shiit about...some don't like dogs..they like other animals like birds as pets...e.g the eagle, falcons pegions, parrots ..
damn! the first time I chop eagle and parrot..i know say chicken na preamble...

So all these classification of what I did to my pet as Okay, Cruel or Barbaric is based on individual tolerance and preference and not be taken as law. Nobody cares if I kill a cow, goat, chicken and eat in many parts of the world. Do u know some Indians considers cow very sacred and even marry them.
It's my pet, if I feel croping, docking, or cooking will satisfy watheva desire that's in me ...be it show off appearance, or hunger..allow us do it.. I don't feel it should be a considered barbaric or cruel or otherwise.

you have a point, but even in the animal kingdom there's classifications of animal, some animals rank higher than some, thats why in some advance countries, you have animal rights and all that. the fact that you gave birth to a son does that mean you have the right to end the life of your child?

Pets / Ear Cropping And Tail Docking, What Is Your View by DogCynophile(m): 1:01pm On Mar 16, 2017
Before I start I will like to explain some terms:

Tail Docking: Docking -- removing part or all of a dog’s tail, usually with surgical scissors -- is done when a dog is just a few days old and her tail’s still “soft.” This surgery is also known as “bobbing"

Ear Cropping: Cropping -- cutting off the floppy part of a dog’s ear -- is usually performed on anaesthetized dogs between 6 and 12 weeks old. The ears are then taped to a hard surface for several weeks while they heal so they stay upright.

please note, these procedures are extremely painful to the animals in question. There are some popular myths that believe it makes the Animal aggressive while some believe it is plain animal cruelty. What is your take on this? Let's have your views.

I will attach various Images of dogs with ears cropped and dogs without ears cropped. Let the discussion begin.

Pets / Basic Training Every Pet Owner Should Teach His/her Pets. !!! by DogCynophile(m): 12:37pm On Mar 16, 2017
Whether your dog is a spunky new puppy or a senior dog is no matter when it comes to training. Every interaction with your canine companion is a learning experience. Remember that your dog doesn’t always understand you and vice versa and that is okay. Also, remember that most behaviours are natural for dogs but they can and should be corrected. These are some basic tips you should always keep in mind when training your dog.

1. Notice

Be aware of your dog’s body language. If they are whining or cannot sit still this is a sign. This probably means they are uncomfortable with the situation. Do not force your dog to socialize if they are not comfortable. Doing so could result in negative behaviour or habits. Dogs also use crying or pacing to let you know they need to go outside. Do not ignore or correct this behaviour.

2. Patience

This is key when you are training. Yelling or angry behaviour is something dogs cannot understand and has no educational value. If you start to become impatient, walk away from the situation. Being impatient with your dog can cause training time to seem unfavourable to him or her.

3. Positive Reinforcement

Remember to praise a dog for their good behaviour not only correct their wrong doings. Praise your four-legged friend for doing what you want them to do. This will bring more of the behaviour you want

4. Redirecting

Instead of just telling your pet no, redirect him to the action or behaviour you want. In the example, if your dog likes to chew on your hands or furniture give him a toy instead of yelling or swatting. This is where positive reinforcement comes in.

5. Leash Training

It is natural for dogs to pull on leashes, but this can easily be corrected. When they start to pull, stop walking. This should be repeated until they understand that they can’t walk if they pull. You walk your dog; your dog does not walk you.

6. No Barking

Barking is an undesirable trait and correcting this will not happen quickly. Make note that dogs hear frequencies that people do not and this can cause the barking. Noting the difference between alerted barking and bad behaviour is key. A dog will not understand why you are yelling when they are barking if they hear a door or passer-by. Using a squirt bottle filled with water, spray them when they bark. Also, use a verbal command such as “quiet” or “no bark” when training.

7. Ignore

Jumping might be a problem in your household and there is a simple trick for this. Ignore. Ignoring your dog when they jump on you or whine at you shows them that they get no reaction. Yelling or pushing them might mean play to them or they use this to get your attention.

8. Consistency

Be sure to consistently use the same verbal or hand commands when training. For instance, starting with the command “shake” and then switching to “paw” can cause confusion. Do not get frustrated with the dog when they do not understand. Dogs can read a human’s body language and know you are angry but do not know why.

9. Realism

As smart as your animal may be, they will not learn new tricks or behaviour instantly or overnight. If you let you animal scratch at the door for years, do not expect them to stop instantaneously. Learned behaviour will take some time to undo but it is possible so be patient.

10. Routine

Once your dog has a new trick learned, incorporate it into your daily routine. This will keep it fresh in your animal’s mind.

11. Health

Your dog’s health is just as important as anything else in their training. If you don’t eat very well, most likely you will feel sluggish. This goes for your dog as well. Check up with your vet to know what a healthy diet for your pet would be. For instance, if you have a very active dog they will need a higher protein diet. If your animal is mostly inside, a high protein diet is not ideal for it will create more energy.

Remembering these tips and tricks will help you and your pooch be successful in your training. The biggest key point to remember is to have patience. Being impatient will cause more negative than positive behaviour. Do not forget to pamper your furry friend and let him know that he is a good dog. This will make behavior corrections more clear in what they’re doing wrong. Training is the best thing you could do for your dog.

Do you really think that only the dogs that spend their time in the woods get ticks? Or do you believe that ticks are not a big problem for cats since she gets rid of them when she grooms herself? All these things are incorrect. Let us now put the facts right. Some of these facts might even surprise you:

Ticks do not only affect pets that spend their time in the woods

Ticks tend to live where the animals they feed on live. It is not contingent on the area. It can be an urban, suburban or rural locale. These ticks are generally found in areas of tall grass, brush and other plant material. Ticks never fall from trees. But they can climb it. In fact, adult black-legged ticks can be found up to 3 feet off the ground to wait for the host. Adult ticks crawl up grass blades, bushes or tall weeds while waiting for an animal or a person to walk by.

When you or a pet brushes against them or the plants they are resting they climb aboard, attach to the skin and feed on the blood for hours or even several days. Once the feeding is complete, they drop from the host’s body. Immature ticks can be seen on leaf litter or in the layers of decomposing leaves under trees. They may then crawl onto the host when the debris is disturbed.

Ticks do not die in cold winter weather

It is falsely acclaimed that ticks cannot survive in cold weather. But the truth is there are certain ticks that become dormant while others hide in the leaf litter of wooded and bushy areas or remain indoors. It has been found that adult black-legged ticks, the tick species that are renowned to transmit Lyme disease start feeding during the time of first frost. Those adult ticks that do not find hosts during colder temperature remain covered under leaf litter or other plant material.

Cats can suffer from ticks even though they remove ticks when they groom

Cats can and do pick up ticks while grooming. This is especially true for outdoor cats that spend most of their time in grassy areas and rest under shrubs. But due to the fact that cats have rough tongue, it is not possible for them to remove all the ticks while grooming. There are several ticks that produce glue like substance that aids them to stay attached to the host’s body. The ticks can even attach themselves to areas where the cat cannot groom. This includes the cat’s face or ears. Even if the cat is successful in getting rid of ticks during grooming, she can become infected with a tick-transmitted disease known as cytauxzoonosis which can be very lethal for her health and in certain extreme cases even death.

Ticks do not transmit disease as soon as they bite the host

Ticks can carry a wide array of disease-causing organisms like viruses, parasites, bacteria and toxins. But the fact is that not all ticks are infected and most tick bites do not lead to disease. There are certain bacteria that can be transmitted within 3 to 6 hours of tick attachment, while others need more than a day before transmission occurs. Since it is not possible to know where a tick is infected, immediate removal of the tick is important to prevent the pathogen from transferring to you and the pet. Hence, contact your veterinarian and ask them to recommend an appropriate tick control product for your pet.

Being a proud owner of a kitty and 2 dogs, I was always worried about ticks. I read a lot about these pesky parasites and found that there are certain myths that are circulating around. Hence, to clarify the facts I have written this piece of information. But it is also very important to give a regular treatment of flea and tick preventatives to your pet for their healthy well-being.
