Car TalkRe: First-time Car Buyer Seeking Advice: RAV4, Matrix, Or CR-V? by donareal(op): 10:09pm On Jun 28
nurey:
The CRV in your picture is a 2007 to 2011 model which has automatic transmission not CVT

When you guage fueling and some replacement parts like bigger tires, more engine oil volume, axle fluid, the CRV may demand more expenses than matrix. But I have used Honda and Toyota in several categories, my Honda is always cheaper in part replacement and it last too compared to Toyota.

I have transversed naija roads often and I always recommend CUV over sedans because of
1. Flood the ground clearance means CUV should wade better than sedans especially if you dey Lagos and some parts of Ogun

2. Bad roads due to the height advantage of CRV over matrix, you won't have issues of pothole cracking your sump or your exhaust scraping the ground. You may even need to do some light off-road which favours CUV over sedan.

3. Leg room and cargo space for a family man, holidays traveling, long distance journey where you need comfortability for driver and passengers, the CRV has that room for you. You can also recline both vehicles back seat, the CRV still has more space to fit a chest freezer or standard 2 door upright fridge than the matrix.

4. For fuel economy and average good road, the matrix should be better, you will be saving 20 to 30% on fuel for same distance with CRV or Rav4.
Thank you so much for this. You have been so helpful.

You didn't specify the year, but let me give you a few breakdowns.

If you are getting the matrix avoid the 4wd variant, the 4wd is extra maintenance and it is expensive to replace the axle. It is the most fuel efficient of your choice with the 1.8L engine.

The Rav4 has 4 engines, 2.0L, 2.4L, 2.5L and the V6

From what I know the 2.0L is very rare, what you will mostly see is the other engines.

2.4L has oil burn issues if buying naija used be careful, the transmission is 10pin solid. The 2.5L is a very good engine but has 13pin which is expensive if buying naija used, ensure they never changed the 13pin to 10pin due to cost and durability, causes drivability issues.
The V6 is okay if you don't mind the fuel consumption. Overall has more leg room, cargo space and ground clearance than a matrix so it is a better vehicle in all ramification on Nigerian roads.

The CRV is a bullet proof vehicle. Cheaper parts than Toyota, solid earth dreams engine, confirm transmission and suspension is solid too. Don't be fooled by the slant boot design, that thing swallows cargo.

If I am torn between the Rav4 and CRV, I would gladly pick the CRV because the EX or the top of the line EX-L has more specs and cheaper to buy and maintain than a Toyota
Thank you so much for this. Your response is very rich and helpful.

Talking about the CRV. Would you recommend I buy the CRV over the Matrix? I am being discouraged from buying the CRV because CVT gear issues. Some even say the CRV is costlier to maintain than the Matrix.

I’m about to buy my first car and I need some advice from experienced car owners.

My options are Toyota RAV4, Toyota Matrix, and Honda CR-V. My budget is between ₦4.5m and ₦5m.

As a first-time buyer, which one would you recommend for me and why?

I’d really appreciate your suggestions. Thanks

Science/TechnologyHaisic Vs Itel All In One Solar Systems? by donareal(op): 1:34pm On Jun 13
I intend to buy an all in one solar system. The two options I am considering are the Haisic 4.2kw 8kwh all in one system or the itel 3.6kw 8kwh all in one system. I need to know how these two compares in terms of quality and functions. I am not too concerned about the prices or specs.

Does anyone here have a well informed idea how these two compares. In fact, how do Haisic and itel products compare in general.

Note: I am posting this on politics section because I do not know exactly which section it fits in. So please moderators help me fix it in the right place. Thanks.

Some say the color is for boosting the efficiency, some say it is to distinguish them. I am so scared of putting it into my gen. It is an Ecoflow smart gen and I can't tell how sensitive it will be to the added material. That is why I brought the issue here to get clarification.

Hotel is not a wise thing. You should try talk with them if it possible to for express because even that 2 weeks is not guaranteed. Except after buying the car you start the registration and leave the car with the dealer maybe 25% remaining. After the completion you can go back there to pick the car.

Alternatively you can use the dealership plate number to go anywhere pending when the papers and plate number will come out which will be way better to you. Thats is the proper way.

Once you did inspection and make payment start the processing the of peppers the same day. The. Have the leaders delivered the car to your state pending when the peppers will come out.
great advice. Thanks.

Car Talk“direct Belgium Car: How Fast Can I Process All Documents In Abuja? by donareal(op): 1:55pm On Feb 12
Hi everyone,
I’m planning to travel to Abuja to buy a direct Belgium car, and my plan is to complete all the necessary documentation there before driving it down to my state.

For those who have experience with this, about how many days does it usually take to finish everything? I’ll be staying in a hotel the whole time, so I’m trying to estimate my accommodation costs and plan properly.

These are the documents I want to sort out:
Vehicle Licence
Proof of Ownership Certificate
Road Worthiness
Allocation Paper
Motor Insurance
ECMR

I’ll really appreciate any advice or timeline based on your experience. Thanks!

Car TalkRe: Honda jazz (Fit): Why Is This Car Not Popular In Nigeria? by donareal(op): 9:47pm On Jan 26
Hightablevoice2:
Nigerians Auto Market is based on 2 Factors..
Flexing or Ruggedity.
There's no point in having your mechanic number on speed dial because of a car that doesn't give you flexing and bragging rights, that's the naija mentality..

and on the other hand, durability.. if it can't handle the stress of a real commercial purpose car, it's not worth it. It might make sense for Uber, and Cabs, but again maintainance is another thing. In some places like IB, you will see Motos, not cars anymore but motos that you wouldn't belief will start up and still raking in at least close 30-40k per week.. and low maintenance..

For profit, it must be rugged enough, have 3rd to 4th hand value and most of all low cost maintenance. And for flexing it must be elegant with a Bleep you headlights attached..

As brilliant as innoson innovation is, the brand has not been considering this factor. Even their luxury models, still doesn't carry weight that much.. because it makes no sense buying a 200million naira Benz, when Innoson has the same style and model for the original product line price and without the hassle of custom duty and all those nonsense.
but this Honda jazz is very rugged and durable according to what I have heard so far.
Car TalkHonda jazz (Fit): Why Is This Car Not Popular In Nigeria? by donareal(op): 8:39pm On Jan 26
According to the reviews I have seen on YouTube (not by Nigerians), the Honda jazz also known as the Honda fit is a very rugged and very reliable and a fuel efficient car. The main thing that attracts me to the car is the magic backs seats which enables creation of more space for transporting cargos.

I notuced the car is not very popular amongst Nigerians and I wonder why. I hardly see them on Nigerian roads, especially in Southern Nigeria. Is it because it is Honda or is there another reason people are not buying them?

I am aware the car has a low ground clearance which means it may not go very well with our Nigerian pot hole filled roads and badly made speed bumps. Could these be the reasons why Nigerian are not going for them.

Please guys help with answers. I am considering buying one.

That's the point here
Fella is a political activist not a musical artist like Wizkid.

Wizkid is greater than fela.
You are saying someone that played multiple instruments, sang live shows with his own band and created a genre of music that wizkid himself copied from is not a musical artist. So, wizkid that only sings on already made studio beats with cut and paste vocals is the musical artist.

These kids.

Get the Obama. It is the hatchback version of the original Uber Corolla. You should only get the Peugeot if you are buying foreign used, you can drive manual transmission and you have a specialist beside you.

The TJ5 1.6 liter engine in the Peugeot is more fuel efficient than the 1.8 liter in the Corolla tho.

Solid hatchbacks both of them.
great info. Thanks.

These are photos of street thugs and gang boys caught by local vigilantes on the streets of South Africa shown with their weapons of choice. These boys are responsible for robbing commuters and pedestrians on the streets of Johannesburg.

They carry those knives around at all time, mainly for protection from rival gangs and for robbing people.
