Don't say my grouse is baseless.
If you belong to the groups that look at events in Nigeria from an innocent-naive angle, I don't.

We know the type of people we are dealing with and what they are very capable of. There is a bigger reason for the grand failures at JAMB, and your type is very incapable of unraveling that because you are desperate to belong.

If you don't want to fight against oppression, don't be frustrated when you see me trying to do so. We come from different backgrounds, and Nigeria has visitef us with different treatments. Beleive the government narratives.., I am not buying that!

I would like to know why Buhari and Tinubu brought ethnic politics in the appointments of the Heads of JAMB. Can you lecture us on that? That organisation was always left out of politics. Why did the APC make it a paramount goal that JAMB must be headed by someone from the presidents ethnic group?

Answer that without attacking me or calling me petty angry names..
I want to inform you that this JAMB man is a Yoruba and he worked throughout with Buhari.

I don't seem to get you clearly.

Thanks

Pls how old are you be sincere? I'm in my late 40s and I can tell you there was never a time any of our maths teachers marked our workings in steps. If they couldn't do this at school levels, is it waec that would do that? They later changed the scheme, like I said in my earlier post.
I derive nothing by making up any story. Without being told, I experienced this throughout my sech school days and waec mock exams. Our teachers would always warn us of being nervous when attempting questions to avoid mistakes in maths. I don't expect this to be an issue, please ask those who schooled in that era or if you still have your maths teacher's number, ask him and honestly come back to drop whatever he says.
Good morning. Hope you do fine.

I am 39. Finished secondary school 2004, first degree 2011.

My primary school teachers marked steps and gave us very good listening ears. Same with the secondary ones too

My university Maths lecturers all marked steps with prudence, unless one Cameroon man who said the answer cannot be right if the working is wrong. Bad of him anyway.

Well, I agree your experiences might be different. What i meant in my earlier post was that a Professor of Maths should be of the experience level of checking steps in Maths. Only for cases where such a person made it there by the hanki packi means

Hmmm....it's been nice chatting with you.
Thanks

Thanks you. I would still advise you review my earlier response and especially, my last sentence.

During Obadanjo and Yaradua, the JAMB leader was a kogi man [Salim]. The result was even poorer than this we have nowadays.

I can't figure any meaning in the ethnic inclination of this subject matter. I am sorry, you may enlighten me. If you clear me, I may learn.

Otherwise, he should be sacked.

The affected parents should sue him, all ICT heads, and the organization, JAMB. They have suffered significant emotional and psychological trauma, and JAMB and its entire team are liable.

What if the student that committed suicide the other day is also affected by this rubbish?
So that your relations will take over and make JAMB like WAEC where a student with grade A can't simplify basic arithmetic ba?

This simple means only those affected by glitches and computer errors can resit for the exam, others should take their scores and prepare for next year jamb.

The senate should make JAMB results valid for 5 years
If they leave this exam for schools to run, it will be the normal Nigerian thing that you guys crave for

I wrote my Post UTME without paging a dime and the process was perfectly very fair. In contrast, my mates in some places wrote theirs paying and faced all sorts or shortchanging.

A waec examiner once said this. For instance if you're to solve a quadratic equation and you missed the final answer, you've missed all. They'd not award marks step-by-step. It was in waec marking scheme, according to him. He's now a prof in a leading university. He's been marking for waec since 1992.

Or when you were in the secondary school( im not talking of nowadays ir indomie generation), was your maths teacher marking answers step by step?
This is horrific to hear.

Will they release another set of results or what?

As someone said up there, the best they can do is to reduce cutoff marks and plead with the various institutions to do same
Do u now feel that can offer Medicine students admission with 130?

They can issue them another exam na.
That's no big deal
EducationRe: 2025 UTME: JAMB Plans Remedial Measures Amid Review Calls by donmik: 2:18pm On May 13, 2025
Eriokanmi:
The best they can do is reduce the admission cut off scores for universities and ensure every institution complies. Since the result is so bad as seen, the worst in decades, jamb should just reduce university admission cut off for major curses to 150. Let the post UTME now decide who's capable enough to earn a slot in their respective courses of study.

Seriously, I don't see any big deal in this. In my time, if you scored 220 for instance, you're a guru. This was before the advent of the Internet. Their marking scheme was so strict. If you don't understand any question, just leave it jejelly because if you attempt it wrongly, your mark would be deducted from those you got correctly. Waec back then wasn't easy to come by. If you managed to have an A in core subjects, na celebration galore. Combination of waec results used to be order of the day, even for major courses. In brochures you'd see 5 o'level credit passes at a sitting or 6 credit passes in 2 sittings. Nothing like post utme. Even in law, P was allowed in maths.

But nowadays, you see students scoring As all through. Marking schemes had been adjusted over time to favour a particular region or tribe, which is part of what's affecting the standard of education in Nigeria. In maths for instance, those marking waec back then would be interested only in the final answer. If the workings were supposed have 5 steps and you got the last answer wrongly, especially where they're asking you to round off your answer to the nearest whole number and you got it wrongly, they'd not spare you, except the marker just wanted to show mercy on you and used his pen to help you write the correct answer, then, mark it. Otherwise you'd miss the whole question and that's the reason we hardly saw candidates who had an A1 in maths back then. But nowadays, maths marking schemes are in steps same as other subjects that involve calculations. Even if you got the final answer wrongly but you got the steps correctly, you'd still earn some marks.

I wish we could go back to that era. Our system of education can be overhauled if they could start from that level.
Just give them another JAMB to avoid all these excuses

education needs to be rebranded. The usual custom of teacher passing instruction through the blackboard to students is not working. Students these days have low attention span and are easily distracted. The first thing that should be inculcated into the learning curriculum is discipline. Make learning easier and simplified. It is not easy but with time it will improve learning. Teachers should give students detailed guidelines and simplified summary of lesson. The students can work with the teacher' guide and be more creative with their learning also importance of blended learning and flipped classroom. We need to build children who can think outside the box and become problem solvers not the teachers spoon feeding the children. Am a teacher and I can say teachers do a lot for children in fact we think for them. Private schools should be regulated there are too many of them and lots are substandard.
You seem to be a truthful person.

Still, don't you think the laziness and instability in the children is promted by their mothers who have money to pay for nonsense

So, blame the teachers the less.

People who submit their children to me don't regret. Their results have never been woeful. If you want, I can send you the current jamb score from my end

I teach sometimes and I teach the better part of what people have done on ground. Not all teachers are at fault. One thing is that i don't encourage malpractice and laziness

Lol chief
Let's be open minded. A child scored 300+ in 2024 UTME, and has a WAEC result studded with A's and B's, but suddenly gets 130 in 2025 utme don't you think it's a red flag?

Also numerous people who wrote the exam on 26th have been complaining about mass failure.

Don't you think JAMB should be probed?
In any exam, there are few cases of anomalies where large population is involved. I had a case in 2019 of a boy and one in 2014 of a girl. Those ones can push for remarking. But writing off the only true exam body in Nigeria is what I will never take.

Thanks for sharing your thought

Did I hear them call the result an unprecedented one?

In two sessions ago, only 14% passed above average.

So what are these ones saying now?
Unless you want JAMB to start giving fake test like classroom exams, WAEC and NECO plus some Nigerian tertiary institutions

They will wail and rest. The Prof I know will never compromise. He will rather resign

I can assure you that if this generation answered AHMED SALIM's JAMB of our time, they would end up with less than 2% pass given this condition of biometric verification that prevents much malpractices
