nothing special, just check this step. with the illustration pics.

https://androidfilebox.com/tips/enable-camera2-api-redmi-5-plus/

Very easy to do. It doesnt even affect update through OTA. The most important thing to note is when writing the command code in the step 10 because it requires patience and you have to put space carefully where it is needed unless you will start all over again. The lens is a beast when you explore finish, trust me. It brings out the beast in the lens.

Ain't nothing beastly on the camera of any of the "Redmi" series' phones. Instead, Google deserves all the accolades for their outstanding computational AI powered algorithm which achieves what you get from your phone. The Redmi series lack OIS, dual pixel autofocus and usually have a smaller aperture compared to flagships.

If you call the camera of the Redmi series beastly, How would you describe the Pixel series

Enjoy!!!

miui.com/unlock/apply.php no longer shows the form to apply for bootloader unlock. help biko. I want to unlock my bootloader, i cant find the request page again

All 2018 Xiaomi phones have automatic permission to unlock the bootloader but you gotta wait for 15 compulsory days to get the code to do it. Just bind the account on the phone and attempt to unlock the bootloader. You'll get a 360 hours wait error/reply.

Your compulsory wait then begins.

Goodluck!

Sorry if I may ask, why wait for 15 days to root the phone

It's Xiaomi magic idea to discourage users from unlocking their bootloaders as its a major security breach. They make you wait for 15 days before handing you a code to unlock it.

It's totally worth the wait in my opinion.

you don't need to root it, I didn't root mine.

Google camera needs root to work properly last time i checked because you have to edit build.prop to enable HAL3.

I currently have a RN5 4/64GB lying fallow here waiting for the compulsory 15 days wait to unlock the bootloader. For me, i can't start using an SD device without G-cam and Dolby Atmos/Viper audio mods.

It's an absolute neccesity. smiley

I was a fan of tweaking phones, installing custom rom etc but recently, I realized that the best way to enjoy your phone and avoid unnecessary headache is simply to stay away from these tweaks and use it within the limit of the software it shipped in from manufacturer.

Totally disagree with this statement. Your phone is better souped up and pimped to the max.

I'suggest you start from Gcam and Dolby+Viper audio mods combo.

For the dude who uninstalled google play services, simply flash Gapps pico or nano and you'll be just fine.

Cheers!

Good question. TECNO actually released the Spark series last year as a phone with bare essentials but with a really good camera.

Sacrifices were made for that camera like Ram, low end chipset, HD display etc but the thing sold like hot cake. People wanted a good looking device for mirror selfies. Those people (not me) are the reason Spark 2 looks more beautiful and has a better camera than every phone in that price range.

Granted there's a 2GB ram spark 2 variant and 4G/LTE version from last year's spark which might be quietly introduced again this year.

Bottom line is the phone is meant to be fine(pass for midrange) and take good pictures and that's exactly what it does.

There's no way a very low end processor will produce above average images and the reason is simply because the ISP in the chipset is garbage.

The only thing that phone has got going for it is looks and that's the gospel truth. 1GB ram in 2018 is a retarded decision.

Shikena!

Most 36K phones sacrifice camera quality, display size and overall design of the phone for a newer 28nm process quad core processor, 4G/LTE, 3GB/2GB Ram and even 32GB storage. Spark 2 just flipped the table.

You should have your gaze firmly on the Redmi note 5 4/64Gb version. But i'll suggest you don't pull the trigger just yet. Better things lie ahead especially with the SD 7XX series coming up.

Insane performance for tachere money!

I've not personally used one before so i can't answer for sure. Theoretically, it should be very feasible. Check out the subforum on XDA for Mi Max 2.

It all depends on how much development you have going on for the specific device. I've personally bought and configured the Redmi 4X for my younger sister that's why i know a lot about it.

With Clarity kernel you can enjoy things like QC 2.0, KCAL colour calibration, DT2W, Unbelievable SOT with custom CPU governors and others. My personal favorite though is Gcam.

It's simply wizardry...

Check out this small comparison pix.

Hello house

My phone redmi 4x now charges very slow, what might be the cause and solution.

Thanks in advance

Dude! Root that phone for starters.

Install TWRP, Magisk, Clarity Kernel and most importantly Google camera.

That'll be the best thing you've done this yr.

Don't forget to thank me later sir.

Where to get all these?? don't worry just google xda.

I'm strongly tempted to ditch my Honor 8 for The Redmi note 5 pro that's how cool that phone's bang for buck is.

@ repairpalng,

Thanks for responding sir.

The phone had no screen protector and fell off a hand bag. Screen is fully functional just that the glass is broken with multiple ugly lines all over the screen.

Kindly suggest what will be needed and the estimated cost.

Thanks!

Better still, get Nova launcher and a custom kernel that supports DT2W (double tap to wake) and activate it. You'll never have to reach for your power button ever again.

Not even to reboot.

What phone brand can offer this kinda camera performance under 50K. These shots were captured with my younger sister's Redmi 4X 3/32Gb. It's dangerously close to my Honor 8 (340 USD) in bright light and beats it hands down in night shots.

(N.B: Phone's rooted and running google camera while pictures are compressed to meet Nairaland's requirement.)

Rock Zircon doesn't sit well in my ears and the sound output isn't exceptional. Had to sell out all the ones i ordered. For me, Xiaomi Piston 3 earphone beats it hands down in every area.

When it comes to acoustics, nothing, i repeat, nothing beats my Xiaomi hybrid pro HD earphones. The sound is simply ethereal. Whenever i hook it up with my Huawei honor 8 garnished with both Dolby Atmos and Viper audio mods, nothing else on earth matters.

Please give it a try sir. Its worth every dime you'll spend on it. Nothing below 100 USD comes close in sound quality and its currently selling for just 25 USD. I've had mine since June last yr so longevity ain't no issue.

Here's a picture of it...

Please, I order a Xiaomi redemi note 4 since April 6, by tracking it shows that the phone has been despatched to the country code (NG) since April 17 and since then whenever I check it, it is still on despatched to country code (NG). I am tired, it is up to a month now and I am confused, cause it is possible for the phone to have gotten to Nigeria with out updating on the tracking site?
Message the seller, he his telling me I should visit the local post office or I should check the custom cause sometime the percel met be with them. I visited the local post office it wasn't there. Abeg has anybody experienced this?

I ordered for a Xiaomi redmi 5A from Aliexpress on 22nd of December 2017 and had to wait till 3/03/2018 before opening a dispute. Multiple checks on the tracking website showed that the item was still in transit all through that period. I had to open a dispute on Aliexpress. After following up on the dispute, i got a refund within 10 days. I subsequently placed another order from another seller and got it within 26 days.

Lesson, your money's not lost as long as you have a tracking number and proof of purchase. Just open a dispute and get your money back.

Hope this helps...

@ LOL247, I think weighing in on a conversation just to troll is petulant and plebeian @ best. While i'll refrain from making comment on this issue, I think you should too. Both parties will surely find a way to resolve things amicably.
