Even with the sullying of his name as a Quisling in the pages of history, it is on record that of all the first republic politicians that were killed in the January 1966 coup, only Samuel Ladoke Akintola, the Premier of the Western Region, put up a fight. He had a rifle and exchanged gunfire with Captain Emmanuel Nwobosi and his men. Akintola, a civilian, injured the trained soldiers and was only killed when his ammunition finished. And even at that he did not cry or beg!

Reps reactions to South-East Development Commission is the reason why Nnamdi kanu asked for referendum
The House of Representatives was today thrown into a rowdy session after majority of the lawmakers rejected a bill for the establishment of the South East Development Commission and no body rant on titter to make it a trending topic like when Nnamdi Kanu called on Referendum to determined the future of his people in Nigeria.

To be honest SEDC is over due because this suppose to be the first development commission, is just that starvation did not allowed the Biafra soldiers to have a proper negotiation with Nigerian government after the war ended, normal they suppose to set up SEDC. SEDC would be charged with the responsibility, among other things, to receive and manage funds from allocation of the Federation Account for the development, reconstruction, and rehabilitation of roads, houses and other infrastructure, as well as tackle the menace of poverty, ecological problems and any other related environmental or developmental challenges in the South-East states and for other related matters after the war (HB 915).
