I no know if you dey confused, or you no wan stay one place

Lmao!
The truth is; Bible supports a lot of stupid things, it’s a sentimental book, it enslaves women, puts men in hard position, has a verse to back up every fvckery, very confusing that if some questions should be ask, bible believers can’t answer them.
I just don’t want to offend God by discrediting his holy book because I believe he exists, but..........
swiz123: You always want to drag people down to your level of reasoning....
Are you arguing for Oyedepo or churches in general? Cos my reply was based on what you said about churches as a whole.
Now, I won't argue what Oyedepo did with you because you are already asking me a question based on what you inferred from the letter. Use his exact words verbatim first
You expected him to say “Financial return”?
Every reasonable person sure knows what “Church growth” means to pastors.
swiz123: [s]When you are arguing with educated people, choose your words correctly... Here no be beer parlor.
Now, a business is an economic-oriented organization producing a known commodity or service with the primary motive of profit maximization..
NGOs and NPOs are granted tax exempt status simply because they do not have profit maximization as their primary objective. A church is a non profit organization (NPO) because their main motive is not to make profit but to convert souls to share in their belief.
Just like NGOs, churches need funding for their continued viability. But their sources of funds are not through issuance of shares, bonds, commercial papers, invoice discounting and other money and capital market instruments which is common to a normal business. Those who invest in all these securities do so with the expectation of a profitable ROI. Any profit accumulating to your portfolio is taxable. For churches however, their sources of funds are through donation, aides and grants which are all voluntary. Those who make these donations those do so with no expectation of returns.
All NGOs and NPOs also employ workers, pay them salaries. This forms part of their expenses amongst their other expenses.
Now, suggesting that contemporary churches are run LIKE a business is not out of line with reason but saying that they should be officially recognized as a profit making venture and their tax exempt status rescinded is unreasonable. Cos apart from being wrong, it could also cause religious tension which fuels divisity... This is because, there will always be a lingering question why mosques isn't taxed.[/s]
Always quick to package shalaye with grammar.
Oyedepo sacked his church workers for not being financially productive, he pays them salary, they didn’t give him a good financial return, he sacked them.
raumdeuter: All the church leaders asslick govt because govt can make life hard for any of them
Oyedepo was doing for Jonathan and PDP while Adeboye is doing for APC and Osinbajo (by extension Buhari) All those import waivers, Presidential prayers, all those are not for free
Amoto94: There are several instances of him making inflammatory statements against the present administration, it shoes again that you don't know what you are saying and that you're parroting a narrative you've heard others saying just to sound cool.
macjireh: abi na u go soon understand... wen Jesus told peter "on D's Rock I will build my Church,,na only one Rock and one Church Jesus referred to....All d many churches u see out there today with divers doctrines and beliefs will soon begin to merge...d body of Christ will be one not many...too many churches out there na d reason Y many people are becoming atheists and unbelievers.... all dat will be over as ds decade proceeds...many GO's will leave d scene soon and very very few news ones will rise and unite d churches,,then people like u will understand
Bruv calm down, no dey use me dey practice evangelism.
MorataFC: YOU NEED TO CONNECT WITH HIM OR OWNS A CHURCH TO KNW HOW IT WORK
1 Corinthians 2:14, KJV: "But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned."
New Living Translation But people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means.
If Oyedepo slap someone, he’ll be able to bring out a bible verse that supports his action. That’s how the Bible is. It has every verse to support anything, but you won’t understand this because you haven’t taken your time to read the Bible.
Meanwhile, Adeboye once said he’ll KILL anyone that messes or disrespects his wife, what’s your thought on that statement?
macjireh: So in all those thinz u did,, did u see Jesus and speak with Jesus face to face or have visitations from Angels... if u didn't,,then that means u have not seen it all....all u saw were letters of d bible and the mistakes of men...there is more than meets d eyes
Amoto94: Your take on talents holds no water because you've proven consistently on this thread that you know little to nothing about football in general by your hasty judgements and emotional diatribes.
All of a sudden, you know the guy, you dey watch am, he be talent, Na world best.
macjireh: let me help u here...bible says narrow is d way dat leads to eternal life,,abi...d same applies to Pastoring... even though there may be 1 millions pastors opening churches everywhere and preaching,, d truth is dat most of dem don't have connection to d Jesus they preach,,dat is if they preach Christ at all... any body can open a Church,, carry bible and just preach,,but to have a true connection to Jesus Christ and God the Father is not mai mai...In actual fact,,God is not interested in d scattered Church system running in d world today,,God seeks to unite d Church as one entity to stand against wat is about to hit d world...So there's going to be a Church and a pastor somewhere who will host Christ on earth,, from dat Church all oda churches will begin to align and unite as a single force,,they will all have one doctrine and one practice... a time is coming wen we will know the real and fake pastors,, it will be so clear...
Same bible wey God kill person because en pull out prick during sex?
Abi the same bible that lots of verses[Books of moses] were pulled out?
Don’t use bible for me if you must make a point, because bible has every verse to backup all foolery done by gullible Christians.
Bruv no dey bobo me with bible, I no be JJC, I’ve read the Bible so well, born and raised in a Catholic Church, went to seminary school, did seminary auxiliary work after my secondary school, served mass, led a sacred heart, executive of Charismatic and so on. I’m telling you all these to know how deep I was, in the church. While doing all these, I worked with lots of Pentecostal clergies, wetin you wan tell me wey I never hear before?
With my church experience, I can confidently tell you that common sense don’t work together with religion. It’s either you intentionally become foolish to adapt and obey these clergies, or you choose common sense, the moment you choose common sense, you’ll then realize how foolish you’ve been all in the name of church.
I’m Christian by birth, faith and belief, but common sense must be used.
afrodoc2: Naija pastors learnt from American pastors o. They just added Naija flavour to it.
Bruv, you need to see videos of what these Pastors are doing, especially the low budget ones.
They open churches strictly for business, they now open churches to encourage fraudsters because G-Boiz are now targeted audience for almost all the business venture in Nigeria.
I was invited for a wedding in Owerri sometimes last year, I don’t know if you’ve heard of Dom Daniels in Owerri [Nekede axis].
Man is nothing but a pastor for G-boiz, i got confused when i saw the premises, the kind of members and even the way he was preaching.
I can’t forget how he said “If they block am, open another one pursue them”... That’s if Facebook block your account, open another one” and keep chasing clients.
That’s the same pastor in video that circulated on Twitter last week where a guy[Wanted drug lord] was spraying money in Church.
nihilistjnr: When you place a bet, you get a ticket which states your exact expected winnings, and your exact odds of winnings.
You do not do the same in a church. I understand what you mean in practice, but really, offering is a voluntary donation not a payment for goods and services, and you can go to church and pray to God without paying a dime.
You dont know Oyedepo . Scared for what exactly? This man's first church was established in Kaduna and he has had several run-ins with muslims looking to burn his church etc. He's a converted muslim himself, and he has been an outspoken critic of the Buhari government since before the man came to power. This guy is battle tested.
He also does not rely on political patronage for anything. He doesn't need funds from anybody. His following is so avid that he's selling out a 50k auditorium 4 times every sunday. The man has like 7 private jets. This is a video of the church property....in Texas. He has several all over the world, including at least 14 here in the UK that they own not rent
nihilistjnr: Oyedepo doesn't need to asslick anybody. The guy has built entire cities in Ota and Omu-aran, which are self-sufficient in every sense of the word - I'm talking electricity, water, healthcare, agriculture, security etc.
I dont think you know who that don is.
Regarding your question, it's because a church doesn't sell anything. Of course it operates like a business, and the most sucessful ones are designed to be extremely profitable, but what do members of the congregation buy? What do they receive in return? Where is their receipt? What is the return policy? People who willfully donate offerings too the church do not expect goods or services from the church in return, and so for them Church is not a business.
Oyedepo pays workers and expect financial productivity and growth, what should we call that if not business?
People don’t buy or sell anything in betting firms, they willingly place their money with hopes of winning, just like members willingly pay their cash with the hope of getting blessed.
If Church isn’t a business, it’s then safe to say betting firms aren’t business firms.
@Your first paragraph, The likes of Dangote, Adenuga and some few are asslickers to the government, licking ass doesn’t necessarily means you’ll be publicly praising them, that Oyedepo hardly praise the politicians directly doesn’t means he’s not an asslicker, he is, he’s scared of stepping on toes, he doesn’t want to end up like Jack Ma, man praises the politicians indirectly, never preached against bad governance anytime they visit his church. He’s an asslicker.
