Scores of angry Owerri indigenes have shifted their homes to “Area K”, a piece of land, near the World Bank Housing Estate, which Imo State government allegedly appropriated to itself without due consultation. Similarly, the indigenes yesterday applied the same system in respect of the former Timber Market along Wetheral Road, Owerri, which was returned to Umuoyima people by the immediate past Ikedi Ohakim’s administration. Already, the villagers have built make-shift tents in the open air, where they eat and sleep, as well as hoisted banners and placards that expressed their grief. Some of the placards read: “We need our land not compensation or relocation”, “Owelle, leave our inheritance alone”, “We have given so much to Imo State”, “Rochas: A Governor or land speculator”, Owelle nakwa echeki ihe ime ga Nde Owerri (Owelle recount what you are doing to Owerri people)” and “Area K is our property”. Some of the indigenes of Owerri, including Sir Macdonald Ebere, Chief John Igwe and Obinga Emmanuel Mbanu, who spoke to newsmen, recalled that previous administrations never tampered or confiscated the people’s land indiscriminately without consultation and dialogue. Appealing to Governor Rochas Okorocha to rescind his decision to take the land by force, the people also reasoned that doing so was a serious violation of their fundamental human rights. Meanwhile, the state government has revoked hundreds of land allocations made to some beneficiaries by previous administrations in three layouts. |
Rochas ate his lunch by wrestling power out of the hands of Ikedi Ohakim I read a Sun Newspaper article written by Godson Offoaro were he said that Rochas Okorocha the Governor of Imo State ate his lunch by wrestling power out of the hands of Ikedi Ohakim. I 'do bale' at Offoaro's style of trying to get another lunch pack, this time from the Prophet of Rescue, the man with shinning white buba and red cap by speaking sweet talks and shouting 'Ranka dede'. With the confidence of his gift of the pen, Godson Offoaro with the spirit of 'any government in power' invoked the highest hypocrisy by trumpeting and advertising sham accomplishments of the Imo State Governor. One of Okorocha's accomplishments according to the gospel of Offoaro is the tarring of roads. Missing in his claims is the poor quality of the roads that Okorocha has tarred. Offoaro failed to tell us that our Governor poured 'coal tar' on sand to give the appearance that roads have been tarred. He failed to tell us that Imo State has a proper way of awarding contracts such that it must take a tender board to put up adverts for contractors to apply. He failed to tell us that Okorocha did not follow due process of putting up invitation for tender in awarding the so called road contracts. He failed to tell us that contractors were not invited, screened or shortlisted for the road contracts. He failed to tell us that the contracts were awarded to friends and relatives as their own share of Imo State cake . Going against the law in other to compensate friends and relatives will end up inflicting more harm than good to the scheme and system of things. Why must we be pouring 'coal tar' on sand in Owerri when the rural areas where over 90 percent of 'Imolites' are living are not accessible? .It is only a professional sycophant that will feel duty bound to cheer a Governor to failure because of a lunch pack. Reading Offoaro , you will think that there were no roads and services before Okorocha came to power. We all know that Okorocha is currently battling to resuscitate his dwindling popularity. We all know that he has contracted many Spin Doctors to build fake mass support for his deceitful activities. But no amount of spin from his Spin Doctors will disguise the fact that he has not performed well so far. Can the Spin Doctors erase the fact that Okorocha is looting our LGA funds? Okorocha sacked democratically elected LGA Chairmen and Councillors and appointed Sole Administrators for our LGA's. The Sole Administrators are his agents for diverting our LGA funds for his personal use. Today, the Councils in Imo State are dysfunctional. Nothing is happening in over 90 percent of Imo State Councils. Our LGA funds are held hostage and we are deprived the opportunity to function democratically. Instead of conducting Council election in Imo State our Governor says he is into LGA reforms and that our LGA's will soon be called Committee of Government Councils where each Council in Imo will be headed by a Traditional Ruler and members will be LGA Sole Administrators,Town Union Presidents,Women Leaders and Youth Leaders . Okorocha's praise singers should please tell him that we don't need his unconstitutional Committee of Government Councils. We need LGA election in Imo State. They should tell him to stop looting our LGA funds. He must hands off Council funds so that our Councils can begin to thrive as expected. Unless our LGA's are free to govern self, we have no grassroots democracy. We must permit the LGA's to elect their own leaders, who in turn can embark on developing their areas. We must stop denying the people governance at the third tier. Only a professional sycophant will sing the praise of a Governor whose policies have been changing like the British weather. Okorocha has made so many promises that he did not fulfil. For example,he promised to pay 20,000 naira minimum wage to Imo State Civil Servants instead of the Federal Government approved 18,000 naira. He has since failed to pay the 20,000 naira minimum wage.During one of his showmanship events in Owerri recently, Okorocha with his gift of gab spoke to Civil Servants of the State telling them that Civil Servants in the State can beat their chest that their salaries come to them by 25th of every month and their 20,000 naira minimum wage has been paid,The Governor was interrupted with shouts of No! It is a lie! The Civil Servants shout Rochas down for telling lies yet professional sycophant are praising him. Only a professional sycophant will sing the praise of a Governor who has crippled all Ministries, Department and Agencies of government in the State by starving them of funds. Okorocha directed all Ministries in the State to generate money to run their Ministries themselves which has resulted to over taxing of Imo people. Okorocha's government now churns out multiple taxation and harsh levies on Imo citizens using indecent task forces and unethical conducts. The question is whether the Ministries can really fund themselves. LGA's cannot even generate enough revenues to run their affairs not to talk of Ministries. What is happening to the allocation of the State? Who is looting what? Only a professional sycophant will sing the praise of a Governor who since he came into office has not being able to create jobs for Imo youths rather he sacked 10,000 Imo State graduates in the State Civil Service. Okorocha has no reason to sack the workers other than he is anti-people and anti-workers .When decisions made and actions taken directly deflates job creation, the result is always more problems for the citizens .Imo State is regarded as the 5th richest state in Nigeria and it is not difficult to pay salaries to the 10,000. Tell me why we can't help these poor youths. The same man who told us that Imo will have problems in paying salaries to the sacked 10,000 workers is the same man that is now boasting everywhere that Imo State has money and went ahead to declare free education for tertiary schools in Imo state. Governing Imo State is not Rochas Foundation, neither is it Baba Sala's nkwobi and pepper soup joint were we dish out alms to the poor. Promising free education to Imo tertiary students is playing to the gallery. Free education for Imo tertiary students as announced by Okorocha few days ago is another Nollywood drama. It is another deceit. I say so because Okorocha will never sustain the free education for tertiary schools. He knows that sustaining the free education policy in tertiary schools in Imo State will make Imo to run into difficult financial circumstances. What Okorocha should have done is to reduce tuition fees. The Governor is responsible for the State's fiscal health, and cannot afford to run negative balances. He must restore taxpayers' confidence that their naira are being used wisely and in the best interests of all people. He should be honest to the people and stop playing to the gallery. The professional sycophants should tell Okorocha to sack his present cabinet if he wants to succeed. The fact of the matter is that Okorocha's cabinet which is his toolbox has unfit tools in it and he needs better tools. His unfit tools are the cause of his administration's political missteps. He should do away with the unfit tools in his toolbox and get better ones. Some of those in his cabinet are spent forces. They have no ideas on how to lift the state to an enviable height. I am of the view that his cabinet is overdue for a shake-up. Sacking his cabinet has become very imperative in order to inject fresh blood that will correct all his administrative missteps. What is the Commissioner that collected 5 million naira bribe from his classmate as reported in the media still doing in government. What about the Commissioner that was slapped by a sex hawker at a high flying night club in Owerri. What about those that advised Okorocha to relocate IMSU sited in Owerri to of all places,Ogboko his village in Orlu zone.Okorocha should surround himself with people with sound ideas of how to put 'Imolites' into jobs; people who have the passion and capacity to develop the state; people who can look him in the face and challenge him on the workability of the state, people that will remind him that the sycophants around him will not remember him beyond the present if he does not leave behind concrete and credible achievements. IMO STATE THE NEW HEAVEN FOR KIDNAPPERS Kidnappers Of Ex-Minister Ihenacho Demand N20m Ransom: Kidnappers of the former Minister of Interior, Captain Emmauel Iheanacho and Mrs Rachael Nkwuorgu have demanded for a ransom payment of N20m for each of them. Meanwhile fresh facts have emerged on the circumstance that led to the kidnap of the former minister and Mrs. Nkwuorgu by the gunmen. LEADERSHIP investigations revealed that the gunmen numbering over five and armed with sophisticated weapons had targeted Mrs. Racheal Nkwuorgu from Ogbaku in Mbaitolu Local Government Area of the state, who returned from the United States for a funeral ceremony. But sensing that their vehicle was not moving fast enough to accomplish their mission, they laid ambush at Orogwe, along Onitsha/Owerri road where they stopped one Mr. Udochukwu Okpe who was driving in a Suv-jeep at about 7pm. An eye witness said that the kidnappers jumped inside the jeep after forcing Okpe out, and tried unsuccessfully to get away with the car which has a security device that restricts usage of the vehicle to only the owner. And seized with rage, the hoodlums shot Udochukwu on the head. He died before help could come his way. The kidnappers thereafter, flagged down another vehicle that took them to their prime target at Ogbaku. Another eye witness at Ogbaku told LEADERSHIP that the gunmen deceived Mrs. Nkworgu, by claiming to be policemen sent by their purported superior officers to bring her to a nearby police station. A man who suspected foul play opted to accompany Nkworgu to the police station, but he was reportedly shot dead by the kidnappers for allegedly preventing them from carrying out their operation. It was at this point that the kidnappers took Nkworgu to an unknown destination alongside the retired navy captain, who came on a condolence visit to the home of the Nkworgus. WHAT DO NGWA PEOPLE WANT FROM T.A. ORJI? At the expiration of forty – eight hours ultimatum given to Ngwa people to dismantle and stop forthwith their aggregated and accumulated attacks on the person of the Governor of Abia State, His Excellency Chief T.A. Orji, and upon which they did not comply, we state unequivocally that the battle line is drawn. We shall say the truth and nothing but the truth with the singular objective of proofing in more concrete terms why Ngwa people do not deserve the confidence of others especially the Old Bende people. We are worried that despite all attempts to assuage this generation of greedy and selfish people, they constantly perfect the art of abusing, maligning and harassing the Governor, a benevolent Old Bende son, the same man who had done for Ndi Ngwa what no other Governor or Administrator had done for them. Repeatedly, we had insisted that the average Ngwa man is shylock, comprehensively insatiable and a pathological cheat. If you are tempted to wonder why, here are pointers: 1. There are Seventeen Local Governments in Abia State. Ngwa alone has nine commissioners with choice portfolios. Example: Commissioners for Works, Information, Environment, Petroleum, Urban Development, Health; Lands, Agriculture and Sports. This is not forgetting that an Ngwa man is the State’s Accountant General. Is it not then clear that Abia State is by extension run by Ngwa people? This is the easiest way to empower a people and make them participant observers in the affairs of a State. During the last dispensation, they had just four. How come the man who has given them more opportunities is at the centre of community assault? Answer: Ngwa people have the character of biting the finger that feeds them. By nature, they are not a very grateful people, otherwise they ought to urge their sons in government to contribute in developing rather than retarding the growth of the state 2. At the inception of the T.A. Administration, the idea of establishing a Recycling plant to stem the tide of environmental degradation was conceived. The Governor did not think of any other place to site the project other than Akpa Mbato in Obingwa Local Government. Forty acres of land were acquired and compensation paid in full to land owners. Government mobilized Phoenix Services to commence work on the project. No sooner than they had mobilized to site, that our Ngwa brothers moved in and vandalized all equipment designated for use in the project. To make matters worse, the Phoenix Expatriate staff who was in charge of the Plant was NGWAISHLY kidnapped. Greed, avarice and sabotage of Ngwa people combined to rob them, Abia peopla and thus government of the collective gain of having a Recycling plant. Reason? The Ngwa man unfortunately steals from himself too. It is in their character to do so. 3. Recall that before the coming of T.A. Orji, prominent Ngwa son Chief Adaelu and the pretender to Ngwa origin Reagan Ufomba were all on the run. Reagan did not only return, he had had a shot at the governorship elections in Abia. Today Solomon Adaelu is a Commissioner as a further proof that his father is now more relaxed and at home. Ngwa people still feel alienated and cheated. Reason? Unless you give them your pound of flesh, they would not let you go. 4. A lot of us were stampeded out of Abia at the wake of those horrendous and cannibalistic days of kidnapping. The ulterior motive of Ngwa people was to re – enact the dark days of abandoned properties. That was why they killed, maimed and swiftly moved to dismember ‘umu ohuhu’ (a derogatory term for residents, including unfortunately; Ukwa people in Ngwa who are non Ngwa). Who quashed that grand plan? T.A Orji – a generous Old Bende Son, a father who saw the civil war and knows the devastating effects of ‘abandoned properties’ T.A.through the grace of God nipped that evil plan in the bud. Now they are positioning to become Governor in 2015 so that they would excommunicate ‘umu ohuhu’ and in rare display of their character of greed take over our hard earned properties. 5. Ngwa people will any day vote for a destabilized Abia because they do not have anything to lose. The tallest building in Faulks Road belongs to Nwa Ohuhu. The most prominent trader in Ariaria is not an Ngwa son. No single Ngwa man can boast of a one star hotel in Aba or elsewhere in Abia State. There are notable transport companies owned by Abians, none belongs to an Ngwa man.The most flourishing business in Aba or elsewhere in Abia does not belong to an Ngwa man. Reason? They have been busy castigating others, marauding the streets and looking for who to cheat. Today, they are willing tools in the hands of controversy, disunity and anarchy. 6. If their problem is an Old Bende son being Governor, how come they have not asked for the head of their children at the Federal level. Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, the custodian of meetings of disintegration, the author of confusion and senator representing Abia senatorial district (comprising UKWA NGWA people) is an Ngwa man. Let Ngwa people mention one single Federal government presence attracted by this good for nothing Ngwa man. This is his five years as a Senator and for those five years Enugu – PH express road, the only Federal government road that links his district has been in a state of embarrassing disrepair. When T.A. Orji refurbished failed portions of the same road within the Aba metropolis, which people called him names? Ngwa people. Meanwhile, their favorite son Abaribe has done nothing to better the lot of his people within his limits as a federal lawmaker. Daily, Abians gnash their teeth as they struggly to wriggle out of the death traps scattered everywhere within the Enugu – PH express road. The same Abaribe maintained his constituency office at ROWMAY HOTELS OGBOR HILL and paid just one staff for more than four years. What manner of a person is that? It is because he is NGWA and the Ngwa man is stingy to his marrows and has the character of celebrating the peck in another man’s eyes while he is host to a log. 7. What of UZOR AZUBUIKE? The best he has done is to ensure that his former houseboy is made the Chairman of a Local Government in a metropolitan city where NDI NGWA have little or no stake. The same UZOR AZUBUIKE sits idly by while Abia suffers as the state in the South East with the least Federal presence. He is done so long as his men have been settled. Is this the character of a man who wants to lead us out of the woods? The same UZor labeled our son as deaf and dumb while he represented Aba North and South as a Federal lawmaker. Now that the loquacious AZUBUIKE is in the driver’s seat, what impact has he made in the lives of the people he has been representing? Or has he also not been trapped at anytime within UMUIKAA or the shame around ARO NGWA all within the coverage of Enugu – PH express way. What single thing has UZOR AZUBUIKE done for Abians nay Aba North and South constituency apart from cunningly and selfishly ensuring that his boys call the shots at two local governments? Other than greed and petty jealousy, NGWA PEOPLE have no business castigating T.A Orji. Though NGWA MAN is unapologetically and unreasonably stupid, he ought to also know that T.A Orji is the best that had ever happened to them. We are not interested in any form of their faraternity and ask them to wait as we pour venoms on their already diseased bodies. From this distance where we write from, we urge all of us who think and act reasonably to ignore the next NGWA MAN. He is not worth it. |
DR Eze Chikamnayo is the Special Adviser to the Abia State Governor on Information, Strategy and Civic Orientation and presently a nominee to the Abia State Executive Council. In this interview he speaks on the governor’s major achievements and projects the government is currently handling. Excerpts: THE opposition has criticised the administration of Governor Theodore Orji claiming he has performed below average. What is your take on this? Governor T.A.Orji has surpassed all expectations. In the last 10 months, he has proved that his promise of leaving visible legacy for Abians at the end of his tenure is not just a mere promise but one that is backed with action. The major plank of his second term is the total transformation of Abia in the areas of infrastructure development, economy, politics, the way politics is being played, what I call the transformation of the political culture of Abia State and even in civic orientation of the people. So he has taken a holistic approach to the plank of transformation. It is not a one-sided approach. I will give you some examples. In just 11 months, he has proved that Abia was truly under bondage for the period he endured a devilish despot. Between 1999 and 2007, Abia State was under siege. Especially between 1999 and 2008, while other governors in Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Lagos and most of our neighbours, were busy seeing vision, putting up master plans, laying solid foundation, Abia State was unfortunate to have been saddled with a self-centred and insatiable governor, who did not work for the state but for himself and his family. This was the unfortunate scenario that T. A. Orji found himself. Politically, he inherited a highly polarized and volatile state where there was a group of those who said they were home based politicians and tagged others Talibans or Abuja based politicians. Abia was hot politically, volatile, explosive. The best brains, the elites, the technocrats, all went into exile as a result of the very oppressive intolerant atmosphere that was created politically by the former governor. How has the governor been able to address the issue of kidnapping in the state? We had kidnappers, coming from the neigbbouring states where militancy had become a way of life. You had all sorts of brigands taking one name or the other. It was the kind of atmosphere that T. A. Orji inherited when the man in Rivers inherited power plant, the man in Akwa Ibom inherited a thorough master plan and one of the best drainage system in the world, the man in Cross River was inheriting Obudu Ranch and Tinapa, the man in Lagos inherited a well-thought-out new Lagos master plan and several other projects that were on-going. Our governor inherited crisis in all ramification, crisis at all fronts, he inherited political enemies. So with this type of environment, little or nothing will happen in terms of development. Beyond these issues of insecurity of lives and property was a more pernicious and vicious cankerworm called mamacracy, which was the desire of the former governor and his mother to turn Abia State into a fiefdom, a dynasty, a personal property, as against the principles of democracy. Immediately, the security problem was tackled, Governor Orji moved to the next level with the provision of infrastructure. In Abia today, Governor T. A. Orji is leaving a legacy of over 100 outstanding edifices, structures, covering every arm of government and all sectors. This includes two world class new secretariats going on at the same time. This is the fastest project in the history of Abia State if not in Nigeria. In less than seven months, this twin secretariat, brand new, first of its kind, is now at the roofing stage and will soon be commissioned. The former did not leave in the landscape of Umuahia any two-storey building. And I can now show you more than 50 solid edifices that have changed the silhouette of the landscape of Umuahia. |
It has just been revealed that former Governor of Abia State Orji Uzor Kalu and Senator Nkechi Nwaogu are the persons sponsoring all attacks on person of the Governor of Abia State using Abia Awakening Page and other pages on social network. This revelation is interesting and ironical because NDI NGWA would be the dumbest fools to think OUK means well for them. OUK had told them to their faces that they can never rule Abia until after Twenty – Five years. To make good his threat, he relegated them to the background of Abia politics allowing them just four Commissioners from the whole lot. One would wonder why NDI NGWA would fall cheap to that ploy knowing fully well that there us a script that says they will rule for 25 years authored by OUK. Could it be the same NGWA mentality that would make them fall so cheap? Is this in any way related to short – sightedness and unreasonableness to be so deceived? Nkechi Nwaogu is positioning herself to be Governor in 2015. We also wonder the kind of Governor that would set out so early to discredit his brother opponents just to have her way. We only feel sorry for NDI NGWA because they are locked up in the most bizzare quagmire. They are fast losing it. |
18 Daily INDEPENDENT Friday, April 13, 2012 IMO UNDER THE WEIGHT OF KIDNAPPERS (1) By Uche Nwosu correspondent, owerri IMO State is fast acquiring the toga of “a den of Kidnappers and armed robbers”, no thanks to the daily cases of abduction for ransom of prominent citizens or their relative by gunmen. Before now, that is before the inception of the Owelle Roaches Okorocha regime as the fifth executive governor of the state last year, violent crimes pervaded the place and was actually a thorn in the flesh of the people, but not as it is presently. At a point, it became a phenomenon that the government and the people were not able to contend with as both the wealthy amongst them and their relations lived in perpetual fear and apprehension. This was during the immediate past administration of Ikedi Ohakim. Then, nobody knew who the next victim would be. Actually; the issue of violent crime could be traced to the otokoto period when killing for ritual purposes was the order of the day by some blood sucking gangsters who sacrificed human being for money. However, after a deadly blow was unleashed on the Otokoto felony by the military from 1996 to 1999, quietness was returned to imo state as the miscreant behind the dastardly act fled the state. But in 2007 during the administration of Ikedi Ohakim, the state returned to the sad period of witnessing heavily armed macho men menacingly roving around the state seeking preys to abduct in exchange for money. As citizen of the state were wondering what was happening, former chief of staff to former Governor Achike Udenwa, Dr Vin Udokwu was abducted .He stayed almost nine months in the hands of his abductors. Capped with that was the kidnapping of former MD of Nigeria Breweries , Chief Festus Odimegwu’s wife , Stella, Christopher Chukwu father of multi millionaire and the mother of former majority leader in the imo House of assembly , Hon Stanford Onyirimba and so on followed. It will be noted that some of these kidnapped victims died few days after their release by their abductors apparently because of the shock and unpalatable condition their abductors usually subjected them during the period of the incarceration .This was the condition the state found itself before Governor Okorocha was sworn in may 29, 2011 .It was alleged that kidnapping was unleashed as a political weapon against the former governor ,even though he was accused of not doing enough to curtail it . However, on assumption of office, Okorocha pledged to tackle the hydra-headed monster headlong; promising to nip it in the bud in the next six months. |
WHY PETER OBI CRIED OUT Recently, in a chat with genuine APGA (very many pretenders to the throne are springing up) Chieftains, His Excellency; Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State berated the Governor of Imo State Rochas Okorocha. Obi’s public outburst stemmed from the selfishness of the Imo State Governor who was the only Governor in the South East who refused to contribute to the central purse during the burial of Late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu. We would have ignored the Governor’s outcry but for his substantiating the claim that Rochas does not live the ideals of a core APGA man nor does he reflect those fundamentals in his relationship with his supposed fellow party men nay brother South East Governors. Rochas it is understood subtly fuels the ambers of disunity using dissident members of APGA to either abuse incumbent South East Governors or promote ill feelings. Gov. Obi was particularly bemused by the senseless fraternity between Rochas and Reagan Ufomba, the only APGA candidate cursed by the late Ikemba. Rochas is in new found alliance with Ochiagha (?) Reagan Ufomba, APGA’s Gubernatorial candidate in the 2011 elections in Abia State. Little is known of Reagan but it would be important to highlight his background and say why we feel he should be placed under strict surveillance by peace – lovers and Igbos in particular who desire the strategic repositioning of the region in Nigerian body politic. 1. Reagan claims to be from Isiala Ngwa in Abia State whereas history of the area records that he actually has Ogoni blood and is therefore Ogoni by both blood and descent. 2. He was dismissed from the Seminary after the sacrilegious and heinous misconduct of impregnating the Catechist’s daughter 3. All his frivolous claims of affluence notwithstanding, he is known to live in a three bedroom flat in Lagos, explainable in the level of insolvency he is experiencing now 4. He is still hugely indebted to Diamond Bank, same reason he approached the Governor of Abia State to help hime offset the debt. 5. He was the only APGA Gubernatorial Candidate in South East who the late Ikemba did not join his campaign trail. 6. Reagan was also the only candidate who was cursed by Ojukwu for grossly violating agreements guiding the use of campaign funds. Ojukwu was irked by Reagan’s shameless act of stealing funds. Till Ojukwu’s death, Reagan had the stigma of a man cursed by the Eze Igbo himself. 7. Rochas is deploying Imo State funds to finance dissident Reagan who he (Rochas) has also used in ensuring that South East Governors are maligned. 8. Reagan wants to rule Abia State by fire and by force come 2015 9. Reagn has been holding series of meetings with Okey Ahaiwe (Kikason), the oil services magnate and Founder of the Ngwa Patriots. He wants Okey to adopt him as the sole Ngwa Candidate come 2015 10. Reagan does not hold anything on trust for too long, otherwise hobnobbing with Rochas would have been enough for him and not flirt with Kikason, in such a desperate manner OUR OBSERVATIONS Whereas Rochas is entitled to his mad choice, it is important to remind him that the first cardinal principle of a gentleman is to follow the path of honor and integrity. By fraternizing with a man who constitutes himself into a nuisance, abusing and disrespecting sitting Governors of the South East, Rochas is making the statement that he is part of the problem and not the solution. We strictly note as follows that: 1. Reagan does not represent the true personality of a Patriot and selfless Igboman 2. The man Ojukwu rejected cannot be allowed to also destabilize the unity existing amongst brother Governors in the South East 3. Ukwa Ngwa should not just deny having anything to do with him, they should practically quarantine Reagan politically as evidence that the area has no accommodation for traitors and charlatans 4. A man who has started prostrating and genuflecting for a boy he is over ten years older than, is sure planning to take us back to dark days of yesteryears where paupers were railroaded to the government house only for them to hand over the State funds to their godfathers 5. “Onye Ukpa, anaghi abu Eze”, meaning that you do not crown a hungry man king else he eats what belongs to the gods We do not intend to overflog this issue, but humbly submit that those who incense disorder, hate and acrimony do not deserve our respect. We also wish to state that the man who failed to honour Ojukwu while he lived does not deserve our attention. If Reagn Ufomba is the best Ngwa people have, then quality of Igbo leadership is sure at the precipice and obviously doomed. |
good presentation.....i fully embrace it and i make bold to say it stand aright |

International Conference Center, Umuahia Abia State! The total capacity is about 9000. Main hall is 5000 and the rest about 4000 sitting capacity. It will be the the 2nd best in the country after the one in Abuja. We were highly impressed with this project. Igbo state governors should endeavor to put up landmark essential buildings at all times. This project will be ready in December.

Abia State governor, Chief Theodore Orji will tomorrow (Friday) embark on the commissioning of newly completed projects in Aba, the commercial nerve centre of the state. In a press statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Ugochukwu Emezue, the projects slated to be commissioned are the Ukwu Mango Ariaria Section of the Faulks road, Danfodio road, Old Express road to SAMEC and the pedestrian bridge at Abia State Polytechnic, Aba. Emezue added that the government has sunk N5billion Naira into road rehabilitation in Aba, which includes the ones slated for commissioning and ongoing projects. The governor's spokesman also took a swipe at the opposition parties, particularly the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) for deceiving the people about the governor's efforts to gave a facelift to the commercial town. For instance, the Aba-Owerri Road, Port Harcourt Road, Ukwu-Mango axis, Ohanku and Faulks roads which have been completed are clear manifestation of the Governor's efforts in giving Aba a face-lift. He also hinted that apart from about 33 roads under construction, the School Road gutter which has been blocked for over 20 years has been cleared such that the issue of flooding in Aba has been addressed to a large extent. How can APGA pretend not to see the various projects the government is doing at Aba? This is a party that lost at the Tribunal, Appeal and Supreme Courts. APGA seeking relevance. The governor cannot be distracted, Emezue disclosed. But in a swift reaction, the Abia State chapter of APGA has carpeted the State government over the scheduled commissioning of projects in Aba. In a press release signed by the State Chairman, Prince Nnanna Ukaegbu and made available to newsmen, the party said the state government is deceiving the people. In the past few weeks following the expression of discontent by the people of Abia State over Gov. Orji's steward at the Aba Sports Stadium which the governor considered embarrassing, Abia State has been inundated with all manners of cleverly woven antics by the government geared at convincing the rest of the country that what is not, indeed is. One of such schemes is the media commissioning of projects billed for Friday, 30th March, 2012, at Aba, wherein Gov. Orji will once again, in his losing war of confusing the elites who do not trod Aba roads that he has given a facelift to the Enyimba City and that Abia State is working. Abia APGA noted the party's call on Gov. Orji to assemble a team of journalist from reputable media organizations to tour Aba and Abia State to ascertain the level of infrastructural development has been designed to launder the image of the governor and discredit the opposition in the state. The Abia government has spent N5 billion on ``roads and other infrastructure’’ in Aba, its commercial hub, since Gov. Theodore Orji assumed his second tenure on May 29, 2011, a government official has said. Mr Ugochukwu Emezue, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, announced the figure on Tuesday while addressing newsmen in Umuahia on the spate of criticisms against the governor. Emezue described a publication in the national dailies by a governorship candidate in the 2011 poll, which criticised the administration for not doing any meaningful projects in Aba. He described the publication as a calculated ploy to ``malign’’ the administration and mislead the public on the activities of the government in the commercial town. He said that contrary to the claims, Orji’s administration had constructed roads and other infrastructure worth N5 billion in Aba since his second term in office. Emezuedescribed the criticism as ''a source of distraction’’ to the administration. He listed the Ukwu Mangoro and Old Express roads as well as the desilting of blocked drainage channels in the city as some of the projects that gulped the N5 billion. The booing of the governor during the lying-in-state of the late Ikemba Nnewi, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, in Aba was attributed to the demolition by the residents of the city. The chief press secretary argued that the demolition only affected ``shanties and illegal structures’’ and not people’s residences. He contended that the only way to restore Aba’s master plan was the demolition of illegal structures, citing instances with Lagos and Imo states. (NAN) USO/MVO |

Solomon Ogunji and the Genera Manager of the Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA), Chief Cosmas Ndukwe over rights to exercise authority in certain operations of the Ministry. Pointblanknews.com gathered that the situation has factionalized the Ministry as workers tread cautiously in order not to be caught in the in the raging fire. A source who spoke to Pointblanknews.com hinted that the bone of contention between the two officials includes who should give out contracts on the desilting of gutters and collection of Sanitation/ ASEPA levies in the state. ASEPA boss, Ndukwe claims that the responsibility falls under his office, while Ogunji have continued to insist that as the Commissioner in charge of the Ministry, he is the right person to approve such contracts as ASEPA is a parastatal under his ministry. The source added: It is a known fact among government officials in the state that Ogunji and Ndukwe have been at each other's throat since the former emerged a member of the Stat Executive Council. Even the governor is aware of the problem, but I don't know why he is yet to call them to order. On most occasions, particularly during the monthly environmental exercise which is held on the last Saturday of every month, they have always engaged themselves in a war of words. Ndukwe , who is also the proprietor of Luxury City Hotels, Aba was alleged to have persuaded his colleagues not to pay the levies which the Ministry of Environment approved last year for the desilting of drainages in Aba, claiming that it is illegal. Pointblanknews.com further gathered that the situation is responsible for the indiscriminate serving of demand notices on residents of the state. A resident of Umuahia, Mike Oriaku said, I can't understand how people can be served Demand notices for ASEPA levy and Sanitation levy, these levies are the same and collected by the same Ministry of Environment. One of them should be abolished, he demanded. When Ogunji was contacted by newsmen over the spate of Demand Notices bearing the name, Ministry of Environment, he claimed not to know about the origin of such notices as his ministry did not issue such, blaming the situation on ASEPA. On his part, Ndukwe could not be reached for comments before went to press as his phones were unavailable. |
