Yes I totally understand what Folaroyal said, the mystery am having is distinguishing between the two degrees that is applied degree and diploma degree

I never knew that the "diploma degree" Is for post graduate degree.

So I needed to be cleared on that, instead of assuming wrongly

Thank you

penitential:
Sorry I've been busy since morning. Just seeing your mention now. I think Eraytee has answered your question. And Folaroyal has hinted you on the possible refusal reasons in going for another UG, so apply wisdom brother. Shalom!

I was advised to look up for a PGD course in SAIT, but I couldn't find one in Petroleum except same Bachelor of Applied Technology Petroleum Engineering" so I am kinda confused and need some clarification

This is an attachment of the information for the course

Hello nairalanders

Happy Sunday to you all,

Please I need your assistance on the very best step to follow,

1stly,i am a petroleum engineer graduated with 2.2 in 2014,due to the wait in nysc I did my nysc in 2016, finished my nysc last year 2016 November.

Now,since January dis year, I have been preparing my migration for my master course in Australia I have spent my time making research and gathering important information, I have already started the process, even written the English exam pte, now to visit my school to collect my certificate before my Dad who is supposed to be my sponsor changed mind because my Aunty who resides in America advised me to choose Canada because iys Closer to America ,

Now, I am like starting afresh and with some information I got attactracted with prior to migrating to Australia, I do not know if such opportunities are in Canada too,

E. G,
1. I know that the 20hourswork/week is also applicable in Canada but I don't know the job luxurity

2.. Australia gives 2 years work permit after study like the masters I am planning, but I do not know if it's applicable in Canada too

3.... As I had my 1st degree in Petroleum engineering, what's DE best lucrative master degree to pursue in Canada that will give me more opportunity for permanent residence.

4... How is the masters admission process, and I hope it is not difficult to obtain,

5...,is there any benefit, I can obtain based on my Aunty who is in America with regards to my application.

Please every experienced person here, please I beg u to contribute in anyway

I know I am supposed to search all the post but,the posts are much and I have exhausted all my research in the Australian posts

Please and please clear a brothers mind, in any which way, let me continue with my pursuit

Thank you

Hello room,

Good morning all,
I wish to enquire about something please,

I wanted to apply for a master course in information technology, my 1st degree is petroleum engineering,
But the issue know is that, the school [central Queensland university] representative here in Nigeria which is BCIE, have suggested that my bachelor course I. E petroleum engineering, can not easily be admitted to study information technology, because it's not related,
So the agent advised that I choose project management as a master course in the same school,

Please, everyone what do u think about this suggestion, should I go for the M. Project management or is there a better course to option for that will enable my chances of gaining A Permanent resident after my completion or during my masters

Please, I need your advises

Thanks

TravelRe: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by Doodoo10: 2:17pm On Dec 27, 2016
Westafrica, you really understand how things are going out here in Nigeria, like he said the best thing is to get out of Nigeria and review your options,

I graduated in 2014,waited for extra one year at home for nysc service, now done with my Nysc since November, I do not want to wait along and hope on miracle, to happen for me here in Nigeria,

With the recent happenings one should be very cautious and active not to be sluggish in making decision because the more, u wait the more time passes by without no achievement

It's better I follow the student route as Westafrican advised, because I do not wanna waste my time,

Nigeria is going crazy Bros,
If you are currently in Australia, work hard and live a life worth living as human beings

I am still reviewing the schools to apply to, that will allow my sponsor whom is my father to be able to bill it..

I am considering heavily 'Tafe in Queensland Brisbane'

Please someone should advise me on this decision

Thank you all for your contributions and God bless you all
Amen

WestAfrican:
My bro I have always advocated for PR rather than study. But in a situation where one finds it difficult scoring 60 points and above and wants to leave the country as things are getting worse then it's better to opt for a study visa then carry on from there.

Masters gives you equal point as undergraduate degree. The advantage of applying while in the country is:
~You can appeal the decision
~ You are still on your student visa and will remain in the country
~ You can continue your studies and earn a master's degree
~You get a 2 year graduate study visa after you graduate
~You can lodge another PR
~You can get married (if still single) and get your PR through that avenue

There are heaps of PhD students in Australia who are still finding it difficult to get their PR all because they couldn't score 20 points in ielts TOEFL.

If your Bsc certificate is not from Australia you will most likely be asked by your case officer to apply via Engineering technologiest and believe there are thousands of applicants and only 20-30% make it before the window closes and these ones have wealth of working experiences under their belts.

There is no problem giving it a crack thou but then like I previously said, I would only do it in those conditions I had listed above.

Everyone will tackle the situation from a different perspective but left for me I will tackle the way I have mentioned (na person wey wear shoe know wer e dey pain am)
TravelRe: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by Doodoo10: 1:53pm On Dec 27, 2016
West African, God bless u once more..
I have already started planning on student visa route,
I just renewed my expired passport to begin with, will go for the pte exam immediately I get my passport, let's say next week..

But I wanna ask, does the pte result have the same authentication with the IELTS result
Because, I noticed that the pte is cheaper and more exam friendly

Please someone should advise on this

Thanks

WestAfrican:
The advise given to you was based on the previous information you provided on this thread. While your condition does not qualify you as a PR candidate that was why I further informed you to get here on a student visa and carry on from there.

You have been advised again to look into Engineering technologiest (ET) as an option but unfortunately Petroleum engineering does not fall into (EAT) specialization.

You may want to contact a professional mara immigration agent to best advise you as you don't want to waste your time, energy and resources; and at the end your visa is refused.

Follow this link to read a bit more on engineering technologist to see if you qualify for sol or csol and do further research.
http://deltaimmigration.com.au/Engineering-Technologist/233914.htm

Coming in Australia as a student is always not the best but if it's the only option you have means you have to grab it. Laws in Australia changes by the day

If you are good at what you do and have a portfolio you can be sure of getting a job and a sponsor that is another route for PR

Thanks mctowel and God bless you
I will look into that, and I hope to get more assistance from you in the future

Merry Christmas

mctowel01:
@ Doodoo10 Sirchino and other guys having issues with petroleum not being on the sol list. Please, in order not to waste your time, apply for PR with engineering technologist. Take my advice very well, so you won't have regrets. EA will happily give you technologist. Ask for it. There is also a queue for technologist but at least, it is on the SOL and also on CSOL. If you cn get your points to 70, you have no stress with getting PR with technologist. No.matter the thousands you pour into a petroleum masters, your pr chances remain the same..You can only hope for state nomination.Take my advice very well and START PREPARATIONS NOW.
TravelRe: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by Doodoo10: 3:06pm On Dec 25, 2016
Thank you West African,
May God keep blessing you for your assistance
Merry Christmas

WestAfrican:
Have a good look at the courses on Sol and select one that is related to petroleum engineering. Apply to a school, get your ecoe, apply for your visa. While studying for your masters and your degree course (P~Engineering) appears on sol, then you can apply for PR and wait the outcome. If it doesn't, you can continue with your masters on the related course and apply for PR after you have completed that degree.
