Politics / Governor "Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki" & "Philip Shaibu" Political Conspiracy* by Dorchlady(f): 10:00am On Sep 07, 2020
*GOVERNOR "GODWIN NOGHEGHASE OBASEKI" & "PHILIP SHAIBU" POLITICAL CONSPIRACY*

Suddenly, the People's Democratic Party, PDP, Edo state are believing, anticipating and hoping they'll obtain Edo State seat of power just this once after being relegated and retired from the state politically by Comr. Adams Aliyu Oshiomole for over 11years today. It's becoming obvious and visible to all, how PDP are bent on retaining the seat of control without thinking voters security.

Since the emergence of the comrade governor to the seat of power, under the hospice of the All Progressives Congress, the APC; dwellers, residents, settlers, old and young, men and women, indigenes and electorates of the State, have so far experienced the true dividend of democracy and leadership with the provision of basic social amenities, establishment of several basic healthcare, huge investment in education, quality roads and other countless infrastructural developments all to his name and even evicting some big wigs of the state politically. These achievements as hinged on the comrade governor are factual, evident, physical and nothing near propaganda even after years of leaving office as a governor. But reverse was the case for a man Edolites fought so hard with their PVCs' to install as a governor on assurances, believe with high hopes he'd follow the developmental strides of his predecessor.

Firstly, he campaigned using the slogan 200k jobs for all Edolites. I didn't have to look twice before exercising my franchise in his favour with hopes of his promised 200k jobs would come to fruition.

My vision of a new Edo with an almost zero crime rate to cope with began to breeze in imaginatively as a challenge to soon be considered a thing of the past.

My entire households, youths market women, traders and entrepreneurs, technocrats as well as other developmentally oriented entities for the state were caught in his snares.

Instead what greeted Edo populace at the wake of his government was an Edo state to be recommended only as a crime city that one may have to question where these promised jobs are seated or situated in the State?.

Again, he assured in his strongest term possible, the revamping of the Gelegele seaport, a development plan well embraced and given needed support by various subsecive arms of governments at the federal level. To this effect, approvals for the financing of the seaport was issued, as confirmed by his senior special adviser on communication and information, in a press statement; but sadly, this monies ended up in personal pockets and nothing has since happened as regards the Gelegele seaport. Yet again came another question seeking valid responses.

However, it's about that time and almost four years ago today, when Governor Obaseki is fast becoming a respecter of our PVCs' more than he does to his ATM cards. He's spotted scouting and scavenging all areas he has abandoned for years. Osadebe Avenue is no longer big enough to accommodate the Mr Godwin Obaseki nor his deputy, Philip Shaibu. Surprising was how he still knew the routes to those villages he went to seek sympathy votes from.

If I were the oliver in this twist of fate, I'd simply surrender to karma willingly than being mocked publicly at the polls because Edo electorates wouldn't hesitate to give him a knock out of government house.

You simply can't force a camel to drink from a stream, but you surely can drag it to the stream; hence, this is same with the case of Edo gubernatorial race. We patiently mastered his deceits and has long shielded ourselves against it. The untold hardship and under reportage of the escalating unemployment rates in the state only gives indications to facts that the cause of high crime rate, cultism, abuse of drugs, rape cases and other social vices crippling the state and denying Edo people the friendly platform and environment to strive in small and medium scale businesses is lack of proper government policies on businesses, unfriendly atmospheres for the survival of SME's etceteras.

We've waited for a season as thus, to decide what we want, how we want it, when we want it and with whomever we decide to have it with, but certainly not with whom we've given the opportunity to prove his mettle but failed himself gracefully.

This time, I, as well as Edo people have decided to contract Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and Mallam Gani Audu on their very promising simple agenda proposal for reforming and bringing alive dead hopes of Edo working again.

Politics / Pdp Not An Option For Edo State by Dorchlady(f): 8:29pm On Aug 31, 2020
‘PDP not an option for Edo people- Obaseki

So, they are masters of propaganda; while we are campaigning, the PDP leadership are using the money they stole for propaganda; so their propaganda machine is well oiled, misinforming people, most of their proposed theory is to deceive people, giving them false impression that they are winning.

No concrete message for the people, the PDP are selling a message about the future when they destroyed the past. So they really don’t have a message; they go to the markets, tried to create fear, using the current economic crisis to campaign. But we have gone round to explain to people that these are the same people who caused this economic recession, destroyed our economy.

So, the only other plan which they are confident in is violence which they are masters in. We know that PDP is working with the guys that created the havoc in Rivers State, the killings there. We have told security agencies; we know that they have recruited many of them. You know we are campaigning in riverine areas and those are the areas they are targeting. Places like llusin, Gegelege, Agenebode, our borders are the areas they intend to perpetuate violence and there is evidence they have brought in people in Oredo, Egor and Ikpoba Okha. They planted at least two militants each from the Niger Delta in each of the units in these metropolitan areas so that they can cause mayhem and cause confusion that may lead to inconclusive elections. That is their strategy and we have told security agents.

The PDP has no message to give so they want violence but we will not allow them.

Politics / Lies Can't Save A Sinking Governor by Dorchlady(f): 2:56pm On Aug 28, 2020
Lies can’t save a sinking Governor Godwin Obaseki, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Media Campaign Council has said, reacting to new lies the governor just told, for denying most of Edo people parliamentary representation.

Those affected by “Obaseki’s coup against democracy”, according to the campaign statement signed by John Mayaki, were revered monarchs like the Oba of Benin, the Otaru of Auchi and the Ojirua of Irua, thus demonstrating, the campaign added, the “outgoing governor’s” contempt for Edo traditional rulers.

Among Obaseki’s victims are the new Speaker, Rt. Hon. Victor Edoror (elected to represent the constituency Ojirua of Irua), Hon. Chris Okaeben and Hon. Uyi Ekosuehi (from the Oba of Benin’s constituency), and the lawmaker representing the Otaru of Auchi, where the APC deputy governorship candidate, Hon. Gani Audu hails from.

But faced by the monstrosity of his action, Mayaki said, Obaseki resorted to “blatant” lies while campaigning at Adolor Ward 4, Ekiadolor, in the Ovia North East local government area yesterday.

The campaign recalled that one of the seven involved in that “nocturnal and hushed” inauguration was even pictured wearing a pair of shorts, at a ceremony usually marked by pomp and pageantry, in which the people joyfully participated.

But in his defence, when faced by his victims on the campaign trail, Obaseki lied that the majority (17 out of 24) initially shut out were “deceived” by Oshiomhole.

“Obaseki sent thugs to the hotel of the legislators-elect in Benin and drove them out of the place to fulfil his nefarious plot. Yet now, he blames Oshiomhole for it!” the party recalled.

But while the APC campaign expressed little surprise at Governor Obaseki’s “dishonourable and cowardly lies”, the party said it was a new low, even by Obaseki’s free-lying standard.

“By this scandalous deed, Obaseki has descended from policy lies (as a governor of fake MOUs) to brazen personal lies (for denying Edo people legitimate representation in parliament). Of course, no one believed him,” the statement said.

But the legislators’ lie was not the only lie Obaseki told in Ekiadolor, the campaign added.

He also lied on his failed promise on the town’s College of Education, which upgrading into a university of education he failed to do, nearing four years in office.

Again, the object of his “wicked lies” was Oshiomhole, for building another Edo university in Iyamho, as he promised and delivered.

The campaign statement said Obaseki’s defense for his own failure to deliver a university was to bad-mouth Oshiomhole, his predecessor and benefactor, who delivered on his own mandate.

It said the “lies galore of Ediakolor” was another ample proof that Obaseki must start packing his bag, as September 19 looms.

“A governor that wilfully shut out the people’s representatives, and can’t deliver on a crucial university for Ekhiadolor, has no business in the Edo State Government House – and Judgment Day comes on September 19.”

The release called on the Edo people to persevere but speak in a clear and unanimous voice on that day: “vote out the disaster called Obaseki. Then, join Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu to begin the long rebuilding process, based on the APC SIMPLE Agenda.”

Politics / *obaseki Faces New Allegations Of Fraud, Illegal Deductions From LG Account by Dorchlady(f): 8:30pm On Aug 26, 2020
* *Obaseki faces new allegations of fraud, illegal deductions from LG account

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has faced a fresh set of allegations on fraud and illegal deductions from the state’s local government account.

The allegations, contained in a release by the APC on Wednesday, detailed how the Governor reportedly made several deductions, amounting to billions, from the dedicated bank accounts for Local Government in the state since 2016 without the required Executive approvals.

According to the release signed by Mr. John Mayaki, the Chairman of the APC Media Campaign Council, the Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, amongst other illegalities and fraud, shortchanged the state with deliberate over-deductions of funds meant for the payment of teachers’ salaries across all the Local Government Councils.

He alleged that Mr. Godwin Obaseki has been making an estimated 47 million naira monthly withdrawal from Owan West LG for payment of teachers’ salaries, when in fact, the true cost, approved and budgeted by the government, is estimated at 36 million naira.

He also accused the Governor of an illegal deduction of 5.5 million naira created to the account of ALGON, an association of Local Governments Chairman which lacks any constitutional function to spend public funds.

drawn from the joint state local government account for COVID-19, and a monthly deduction of one-percent of total funds accrued to the local government for security in addition to the over 700 million naira he draws from the state treasury as security vote.

The statement read: “Independent investigations and whistleblowers from the disorganized and divided Obaseki-government have revealed a running scam and the criminal diversion of funds from the joint state local government account by the outgoing Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki.”

“These revelations, containing proofs of illegal deductions from the account of the Local Councils in Edo State, show in grim details how the insatiable greed, corruption, and tyranny of Mr. Godwin Obaseki paralyzed local councils in the State.”

“For instance, in all the months of Mr. Godwin Obaseki’s ruinous tenure in office, we have uncovered solid proof of how he consistently swindled the people of Owan West with an over-deduction of an estimated 47 million naira monthly as payment for teachers’ salaries, when in actual fact, he was paying only 36 million naira to the teachers.”

“The same was the case in several other Local Councils where the Governor, using the Ministry of Local Government, unilaterally, without the approval of the Executive Council and with essentially a non-existent legislature where his bag-carrier, Frank Okiye, was illegally installed, made withdrawals and threatened the officials into silence with intimidation and warnings of removal.”

“We also discovered that Mr. Godwin Obaseki has been making separate deductions of one-percent of the total revenue accrued to the Local Councils monthly for security and health respectively, without explanation of what these funds are spent on and why they are necessary especially as the Governor already draws over 700 million naira monthly as security vote.”

“Evidence of the Governor’s illegal deduction of 5.5 million naira created to ALGON account for COVID-19 and spent against constitutional dictates by Mr. Godwin Obaseki was also made available to us.”

“The Local Government is the cornerstone of the government system in Nigeria given its nearness to the people and its broad mandate to tackle developmental challenges facing the people in communities, especially those in rural areas that do not often enjoy the headlines. By depriving the councils of their statutory funds, and intimidate their elected leaders into silence, Mr. Godwin Obaseki not only defrauded the state, but he also deliberately promoted underdevelopment in Edo State and increased the hardship of the people.”

“His illegal inflation and criminal diversion of teachers’ salaries is an egregious violation of trust and crime, considering that the same Governor refused to address the acute shortage of teachers in the state, forcing poor residents to pull their meager resources together for private recruitment and deployment of teachers to government-owned schools.”

“We will be forwarding this evidences to the EFCC, ICPC, and other relevant agencies for further investigation. In the meantime, we demand the immediate invitation of Mr. Monday Osaigbovo, the Edo Commissioner of Local Government and Community Affairs, by the relevant authorities to explain his role in the fraudulent withdrawals and publish all transactions and deductions made by the Obaseki-administration since its regrettable emergence in 2016.”
Politics / Can Obaseki Avert Mass Resignation, Defections? by Dorchlady(f): 12:06pm On Aug 15, 2020
Can Obaseki avert mass resignation, defections?

Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki is being deserted by prominent aides. Festus Okoro writes on the implications for his re-election bid.

There are indications that Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki’s ambition for a second term in office is fast becoming an unending nightmare as his party members, political appointees leave in droves.

“A leader without followers is simply a man taking a walk.” In that one quote, former Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, John Boehner explicitly paints a picture of a leader whom his followers or allies have lost confidence in. But why do so many people lose faith in their political leaders or politicians at a time – as in the current situation with Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki and his once passionate followers including close associates and appointees? Does it mean they reject his ideas on “leadership?”

Although Obaseki and his “leaning” fanbase wants everyone to believe otherwise, basic knowledge of political behaviour suggests to every discerning mind that the massive depletion of the Governor’s camp is an indication that the noose is getting tighter on his second term ambition. Those who hold such view are quick to point to recent incidences of resignation of appointments by key officials of his government in a worrisome manner. For instance, Director, Obaseki/Shaibu Movement and a hitherto member of the state Waste Management Board, Mr Patrick Iyoha, announced his resignation from his appointment to the amazement of many on July 28. Although Iyoha did not give reasons for his resignation in his letter dated 28 July, 2020. But those who are close to him said he did so as a protest against the Governor Obaseki’s lackluster administration and stack disregard for democratic tenets.

Besides Iyoha, two members of the Post Primary Education Board: chairman of the board, Mr Gabriel Oiboh, and a member Mr Osanyemwere Osawe appointed by Governor Obaseki also resigned their appointments about 24 hours after Iyoha threw in the trowel. According to them, they left because they could not bow to pressure to defect to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

On Monday, July 29, three commissioners of the Edo state Oil and Gas Producing Area Development Commission reigned their appointments. The commissioners — Osamwonyi Atu, Emmanuel Odigie and Rilwanu Oshiomhole — represented Edo South, Edo Central and Edo North senatorial districts. Several state commissioners have also resigned.

“Can someone tell OBASEKI to leave the position when the ovation is laud than to be humiliated at the end of the day? It is a pity that Obaseki is not sensing it that his time is up in Edo Politics. He has refused to do the needful at the right time only to be fighting elders in the state and refused to inaugurate Edo State House of Assembly,” a political analyst, Asia Jones said in reaction to the depletion in the Governor’s cabinet and mass defection from the PDP into the APC.

The resignation of Mr Iyoha is one that sent some shivers down the spines of Obaseki’s supporters. The tsunami list of many appointees of Governor Godwin Obaseki who have parted ways with the governor ahead of the September 19 gubernatorial election in the state is swelling up each day. The list is becoming endless, giving credence to those who say Obaseki may just be on his way out of government house.

About 42 political allies of Obaseki have resigned their positions in his cabinet. Three members in the board of Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Area Development Commission on Monday resigned their appointments, citing political and personal reasons.

Taiwo Akerele, who was the Chief of Staff to Governor Obaseki up and until April this year resigned from the position, saying his decision to exit the administration “is based on administrative and governance grounds.” Akerele said he had to resign for being sidelined, over his refusal to join the fight against the former National Chairman of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.

Can Governor and his deputy, Philip Shaibu, survive the rampaging wind of resignation and defections trothing their base?

Samson Akiemughu, an Edo state born political economist says it remains a tight rope for Obaseki and his deputy to walk. “It’s becoming interesting. As it is now, it’s almost predictable to say Obaseki can garner enough vote to beat or win his major rival and candidate of the All Progressives Congres, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu in the coming election,” he said in an interview with this newspaper.

Like Akiemughu, Johnson Raymond, an Abuja based public affairs analyst, believes that “it will take extra grace for Obaseki to win the September 19 election. If you look at the Governor’s countenance, his disposition and unarticulated campaign speeches during his tour of the state, you will better understand that his self-confidence is waning at high speed,” Raymond said.

But, Joel Osa would slightly disagree with Akiemughu and Raymond. In his reaction to the debate, he said: “I don’t know why it’s the people who don’t leave in the state that will critisie the government… Am an Edo indigene and obaseki has done well in just 4yrs…. He defected to the PDP because “issue with his Godfather Oshiomhole. ”Oshiomhole did not want him to contest by accusing him of not having proper credentials to run for the next elections… If the people want to resign let them resign Edo must move forward the actions of few people cannot dictate that for everybody and there is a man for it…”

He however, acknowledged that “Ize iyamu himself is not also bad, but all we pray for is good governance.”

Many believe that Obaseki will not go far or score significant result at the polls, based on what they described as mass movement of the governor’s trusted allies and political appointees who are supposed to be members of his immediate family. The general view is that due to his “abysmal performance in the last three years and half, re-electing him would be difficult.

They believe that Obaseki is notorious for not delivering on his campaign promises to the state. Hence his current struggle to get reelected into the government has become an uphill task. His critics stressed that his current struggle is because of his poor performance in the period he has been in office. Not a few people think he should be voted out of office to allow for efficiency in delivery of the desired dividends of democracy to the state. Those who are on ground point to the fact that Edo state is now worse in terms of provision of infrastructure like roads, school buildings, power and housing.

“Road network across the state is the worse in the entire Southern region. Cases of armed robbery and yahoo+ are getting worse. The rate of girl traffiking and prostitution is alarming. No enough teachers in our schools – from Primary to tertiary education level. He cannot even find a way to partner Benin Disco to ensure average power supply to Benin City, talk more of the rural areas. It’s darkness across the state at night, providing safe haven for criminals and criminality.

“He brags about constructing few roads despite scarce resources. Let Obaseki measure his standard of governance with his peers across the country, he will realise how much he has taken Edo state backward. Instead of focusing on governance and delivery of his promises to the people of Edo state that elected him massively in 2016, he there chasing shadows and engaging campaigns of calumny, hatred and brigandage,” Osas Omo said in an interaction with our correspondent,” adding: “Is that the kind of person you expect us to vote in again as Governor of Edo state? Never will that happen.”

As the clock ticks to the September 19 for the election of the next governor,  many hope that the elections will be devoid of violence.

QWho is saying that the outing at Uromi didn't go well? Obaseki and his people have become very adept at concocting lies as the countdown to their defeat begins in earnest. The atmosphere here at Uromi was electric. It is very clear from this video that the crowd was clearly ecstatic, waving their brooms and jumping with joy to receive POI and Comrade Adams Oshiomhole. The latest scheme from Obaseki is to superimpose voiceovers on APC campaign rallies to confuse the public and even pro-POI members of the public. Don't be deceived, be wise.

Edo 2020: Oba of Benin blesses Ize-Iyamu, calls for peaceful campaigns

… hails Buhari for administrative successes, warm reception

The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, offered royal blessings to the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the Edo Governorship election, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, on Saturday during a courtesy visit to the palace of the monarch before the party kicked off its campaign flag-off.

The Governorship candidate was accompanied by a delegation of the All Progressives Congress led by the Chairman of its National Working Committee and the Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, as well as other Governors and leaders of the party including, its former National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, Governor Umar Ganduje of Kano State, Governor Babajide Sanwoolu of Lagos State, Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, and Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State amongst others.

While receiving them, the Oba emphasized the importance of prayers and called for a peaceful, rancor-free election.

He said the Palace remains a father to all and will support the choice of the people at the polls.

President Muhammadu Buhari, who endorsed Ize-Iyamu on Friday and presented him the party’s flag as its candidate in the election, also received praises from the Oba over the successes of his administration.

Unlike his opponent, Governor Obaseki, who failed to receive blessings at the Palace when he visited because he forgot the traditional kola nut and gin, an incident which led to the sack of his protocol officer, Ize-Iyamu received the blessings of the Palace and the ancient throne of Benin in a ceremony conducted by the Iyase of Benin Kingdom.

Speaking on behalf of the APC delegation, Governor Mai Mala Buni, said the visit was to present the Edo 2020 APC governorship candidate to the royal majesty for his blessings, which he successfully received. He expressed optimism that the APC will reclaim Edo State on the 19th of September.

Politics / OBASEKI Vandalizing Edo Assembly Complex To Impose Illegal Minority Rule by Dorchlady(f): 3:08pm On Aug 06, 2020
Obaseki vandalizing Edo Assembly complex to impose illegal minority rule – APC

The APC State Media Campaign Council for the Edo Governorship election has accused Governor Godwin Obaseki of personally leading thugs to vandalize the complex of the Edo House of Assembly as part of his bid to enforce the continuation of what it described as an "illegal formation of a partial Assembly."

Reacting to the blockade of the Edo Assembly on Thursday by security officials, Mr. John Mayaki, the Chairman of the State Media Campaign Council, claimed that the Governor besieged the complex out of fear that his illegal house of just 5 members will be overturned and replaced with a more representative Assembly.

He said: "The outgoing Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has placed the independence of the legislative arm and the democracy of Edo State on trial."

"He has ordered the vandalism ruin and destruction of the Assembly complex under the pretense of a renovation exercise out of fear that his illegally-formed Assembly of just four members will be overturned and replaced with a more representative one."

"It should be recalled that National Assembly ruled that the Assembly formed by Mr. Godwin Obaseki last year after abducting some members-elect dead in the night was illegally done and, therefore, is unknown to law. Regardless of this, and loud outcry from the people of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki persisted in the illegality and denied representation to 14 members."

"Since then, five more members, led by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Yekini Idiaye, have since renounced the illegal gathering of Mr. Godwin Obaseki and maintained their support for the All Progressives Congress."

"Out of an Assembly of 24 members, 19 members have backed out of Obaseki's illegality and declared their support for the APC. Is it not against common logic and all principles of democracy for the Governor to claim to have an Assembly of just 5 members out of the elected 24?"

"The Governor has created needless panic and fear in the state once again because he is afraid that the 19 members, who represent an overwhelming majority, will set aside his illegality. He has invaded the Assembly complex, and the adjoining Ring Road, with thugs and all manner of people to block the Assembly complex, while also commissioning its destruction, including roof removal to prevent any sitting."

"It amounts to Executive recklessness, disregard for the principle of separation of powers, and complete irresponsibility for Mr. Godwin Obaseki to insist he must dictate to the House of Assembly on who it must elect as Speaker, more so with just the support of 5 members out of elected 24."

We don't control the Police, explain Edo Assembly tussle to the world – APC tells Obaseki

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Media Campaign Council for the Edo Governorship election has rubbished claims by the Edo State Government that its leadership "ferried Police from Abuja" to block the Edo Assembly complex, stating that the APC, as a political party, does not control the Police.

In a statement released Thursday morning by Mr. John Mayaki, the Chairman of the State Media Campaign Council, the APC accused the Edo State Government of carrying out several onslaughts against the constitutional independence of the legislative arm of government by attacking its members-elect and denying them representation.

He insisted that the Governor, who is responsible for numerous other sieges on the Assembly complex, is in the best position to tell the world who is behind the Police blockade on the Assembly.

He said: "It is a known fact that the outgoing Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has treated the House of Assembly, an independent and co-equal branch of government, as a mere extension of his office through the brutalization of members-elect and the denial of representation to the majority of members."

"In Gestapo style, the outgoing Governor hijacked a tiny minority and purportedly inaugurated them in the dead of the night. The sham inauguration was condemned and set aside by both arms of the National Assembly after their separate investigations revealed that the members, and indeed the Clerk, were forced to participate in the illegality under threat to life."

"With these criminal antecedents, we believe if there is any unwholesome activity ongoing at the Assembly Complex, it is Mr. Godwin Obaseki who is in the best position to explain to the world what is going on and why."

"Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, or the APC, does not control the Police. When Obaseki went to obtain a questionable court order challenging the position of Comrade as the APC National Chairman months back, he was locked out of the National HQ of the party in Abuja. If indeed he has any control over the Police, wouldn't he have instructed them to leave and grant him entry?"

"The Edo State Government should explain to the world and Edo people what is going on. And they can start by explaining why a branch of government meant to carry out oversight functions and check the excesses of the Executive arm has been holding plenary inside the Government House for months over a supposed 'fumigation and renovation exercise' at the Assembly Complex'."

*The Simple Agenda: The Manifesto of Hope*

I: INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT & URBAN RENEWAL

The main objective of the infrastructural development and urban renewal programme will be to bequeath to the state, physical structures and facilities that will promote decent living standards for our people.

Our integrated approach to development will be stepped-up in every area from modern Information Technology infrastructure to new ways of building public works systems. This would be accompanied with cost and resource effectiveness to eliminate wastages, promote skills development and bequeath a state-of-the-art infrastructure that future generations will utilize and be proud of.

1) Roads and Drains
Our goal is to have all major roads and streets within Benin City and all local government headquarters asphalted and in most cases, with accompanying walkways, drains and street lights, in an unprecedented urban renewal scheme that will be embarked upon.

• Emphasis will be placed on the reconstruction and rehabilitation of existing road networks with a view to bringing the various communities back to life and improving environmental sanitation, public health and security of life and property.

Politics / Ize-iyamu And Edo State by Dorchlady(f): 9:45am On Aug 04, 2020
While these faceless persons claim to write on behalf of Edo people at home and in the diaspora, it bears stating that their mendacious claims are undermined by the deluge of endorsements received daily by Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu from the people of Edo State. Noteworthy is that the endorsements cut across party lines to include prominent members of Obaseki’s family and government of which some have reportedly resigned, convinced of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu’s integrity and competence, and on the strength of his documented manifesto to move Edo State forward.

We are assured that the president is well-aware of the vicious, unprincipled, and mindless attacks by PDP hierarchs on innocent people and their reputation, having himself been a victim of their flexible principles and morality. Obviously, the president needs very little convincing on why their jejune demand should hit the dust, alongside the shameful insistence on dragging others into their campaign of calumny to hide the failure of their candidate. All of these, no doubt, stems from their approaching defeat in September.

This clarification is made to unsuspecting members of the public who may be tricked into believing the lies of the ailing PDP. It is a party of power-mongers pitted against themselves by their unrestrained ambitions, and still operating on the “do or die” politics it introduced into our polity.

PRESS RELEASE

DISCLAIMER OF EDO STATE ALL GRASSROOT ALLIANCE (AGA) SUPPORT FOR OBASEKI RE-ELECTION

It has come to the notice of the Edo State working committee and also to the national working committee of our great party ALL GRASSROOT ALLIANCE national head quarters Abuja that one Pastor Solomon Osarumwense Oshodi has collapsed AGA party structure in Edo State and joined with other political parties in the state in other to ensure the Re-election of the incumbent governor Mr. Godwin Obaseki and his Deputy for this coming Edo Sep 19th Edo Election.

The current state working committee headed by Comrade Andrew Igwemoh, a chartered management accountant and with the directives of the national working committee ably led by Honorable Dr. Olukayode Oshiariyo hereby debunk and disclaim in entirety all claims in that recent statement of one Mr. Osohodi using the name of our highly respected ALL GRASSROOT ALLIANCE (AGA) in soliciting votes for Mr. Godwin Obaseki.

The said Mr. Osarumwense Oshodi has since been removed by the national working committee as Edo State Chairman In September 2019 and should therefore desist from parading himself or putting himself forward in that capacity in Edo State and the general public should disregard whatever purported comment in the name of ALL GRASSROOT ALLIANCE (AGA) in Edo State.

As the current acting state chairman of the party in Edo State our party, ALL GRASSROOT ALLIANCE (AGA), is not involved in any unholy alliance with PDP and Obaseki Re-Election which to us is already a failed bid and dead on arrival.

A bad son who forgets and disrespect the parents/helpers and who forgets also to be humble when the benevolent spirits crack his nut for him certainly cannot be taken to be a serious contender for the exalted office of governor and for re-election in the forth coming September 19th election.

We are saying that the ALL GRASSROOT ALLIANCE (AGA) as a political family in Edo State and at the national level has not adopted any governorship candidate and we are not in any political alliance with any for the time being.

ALL GRASSROOT ALLIANCE (AGA) wants to place on records that whatever modest achievement of the current Governor Obaseki for the past three and half years does not meet the irreducible minimum of objective performance if an AGA Governor was elected and would have bequeathed to Edo People. If this is the standard of governance, then count ALL GRASS ROOT ALLIANCE (AGA) out. Edo state deserves better than what we presently witness for the past three and half years.

ALL GRASSROOT ALLINACE (AGA) scores this government 38% performance rating

THE All Progressives Congress, APC in Edo State yesterday alleged that the Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Campaign Council who is also the governor of Rivers State, Nyesome Wike and Governor Godwin Obaseki who is the candidate of the PDP have perfected plans to unleash violence in the state before snd during the September 19th election.

A statement yesterday by the Chairman Media of Edo State APC Campaign Council, John Mayaki while reacting to comments by Wike in a television interview aired yesterday alleged that PDP was planning to mar the election for fear of defeat.

Wike during the programme was said to have stated that the people of Edo already knew the type of candidate the APC was presenting, going by what the former national chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole said about the APC candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu four years ago.

He said“Adams Oshiomhole told Edo people that Ize-Iyamu was rusticated from school; that he poured acid on a fellow student that destroyed his manhood. That he is an armed robber that cannot be trusted with money,” Wike reportedly said.
But Mayaki in a statement alleged that Governor Obaseki like Wike has perfected strategies including intimidation vandalism, destruction of opponent’s properties, and harassment of innocent persons to obtain power.

He said, “According to reliable data sourced from Peace Map, political violence in Rivers State steadily increased beginning in January 2015, peaking in the lead-up and aftermath of the April gubernatorial elections and this was due largely to the violent attitude of Nyesom Wike.

“In Edo State, we have seen the same trait. There is a persistent problem in the violent, dishonest, and generally deplorable conduct of the rejected PDP which poses a great threat to the peaceful conduct of the September 19 election.

‘A clear example of their violent conduct and brutality was witnessed by all in the incident that took place on July 25, when Mr. Godwin Obaseki and his cohorts of tax-collectors were confronted, through a peaceful protest, by the people of Edo State who are both repulsed and angered at the continuous unraveling of his collapsing government marked by daily resignations and revelations of fraud.

“As video evidence and several objective eye-witness accounts show, this incident took place outside of the Palace, in the Oredo Local Council.”

Obaseki, Governor of an Empty Government House, awaits Complete Disgrace Sept. 19' – APC

The State Media Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Edo State Governorship election has derided incumbent Governor Godwin Obaseki of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the Governor of an empty government house who is on his way to an embarrassing defeat at the polls.

This was against the backdrop of more resignations from the Edo State Government after three Commissioners and a Special Adviser announced their departure on a daily basis while immediately declaring support for the APC and its candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

All three Commissioners representing the Senatorial Districts of the State in the Oil and Gas Commission, Prince Emmanuel Odigie, Rilwanu Oshiomhole, and Osamwonyi Atu, and the Special Adviser from Ugbeka Ward 03, Hon. Bright Njor, have resigned.

In a statement released by Mr. John Mayaki, the Chairman of the State Media Campaign Council, the APC said the resignations, expected to continue, are clear indications that the Governor has been rejected by all and will suffer a comprehensive defeat at the polls.

In his words, "While the disheartened and dispirited image-makers of the outgoing governor struggle to mend what is already a shredded image and at the same time console themselves with a meaningless exegesis on the technicalities of the office of those resigning from the Edo State Government in massive numbers, it is clear, beyond all doubts, to everyone within and outside the state that Mr. Godwin Obaseki has been rejected."

"Mr. Godwin Obaseki is the now the governor of an empty Government House. Everyone is heading for the exit. They do not want to partake in his looming disgrace out of power because his failure is his alone."

"Obaseki adopted a self-absorbed and uncaring style of governance, appointing aides only to cripple them by diverting funds meant to run their offices to frivolous quests and a demonic plot to bring down successful sons of Edo state."

"Now that the chicken has come to roost, it is only normal that the aides, many of whom are themselves victims of the governor's tyranny and reckless actions, will head for the exit and rejoin the APC as we march forward to correct an error made in 2016."

"We know that more people will join us and we are ready to receive them. Obaseki represents a dark past of needless conflicts, rancor, incompetence, and stark failure. He is a nightmare that everyone in the State cannot wait to wake up from. Together with the people of the State, we will consign him to the dust bin of history and turn a new page of peace, unity, and development with Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and the All Progressives Congress."
