eurozone1:You mean the USA won't give a damn? |

The European Parliament has voted to end visa-free travel for Americans within the EU. It comes after the US failed to agree visa-free travel for citizens of five EU countries – Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Poland and Romania – as part of a reciprocity agreement. US citizens can normally travel to all countries in the bloc without a visa. The vote urges the revocation of the scheme within two months, meaning Americans will have to apply for extra documents for 12 months after the European Commission implements a “delegated act” to bring the change into effect. The Commission discovered three years ago that the US was not meeting its obligations under the reciprocity agreement but has not yet taken any legal action. The latest vote, prepared by the civil liberties committee and approved by a plenary session of parliament, gives the Commission two months to act before MEPs can consider action in the European Court of Justice. Australia, Brunei, Japan and Canada were also failing in their obligations, but all four have lifted, or are soon to lift, any visa restrictions on travel for EU citizens. The Commission is legally obliged to act to suspend the visa waiver for Americans, but the European Parliament or the Council of the European Union have the chance to object to the “delegated act” it uses to do so. In December, MEPs pressed for the move in order to “encourage” Washington to play its part, according to a statement by the parliament. But Migration Commissioner Dimitris Avramopoulos warned of “consequences”, including potential “retaliation” and a drop in visitor numbers precipitating substantial losses for the continent’s tourism industry. READ MORE I will not be used as a bargaining chip in the Brexit negotiations Just days ago the Council said it would liberalise the visa regime for citizens of Georgia travelling into the EU. Georgians can now, subject to final approval of the regulation, stay in any EU country for 90 days in any period of 180 days without needing a visa. Carmelo Abela, Malta’s minister for national security, said: “This agreement will bring the people of Georgia and the EU closer together and will strengthen tourism and business ties. It follows the completion of the necessary reforms by Georgia, addressing document security, border management, migration and asylum.” Last month it was reported that the EU was considering the adoption of a US-style electronic travel permit scheme – a move that could create a new administrative hurdle for British tourists after Brexit. Immigration minister Robert Goodwill told Parliament the EU was discussing the possibility of introducing a version of America’s Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (ESTA). Currently foreign travellers must pay a fee of $14 (£11) when they complete ESTA, an automated online system that determines their eligibility to travel to the US. “British people are now used to the US ESTA scheme and, therefore, we view with interest how the European scheme might develop and what similarities, and differences, there may be to the US scheme,” Mr Goodwill said. “This type of scheme is generally there to help enhance security. To get to know as much as possible about the people who are intending to travel. “It isn’t just flights, it could be people using ferries, or other border crossings into the European Union.” Alan Brown, an SNP member of the European Scrutiny Committee, pointed out that Leave advocates in the referendum campaign had said there would be no need for visa-like travel schemes after Brexit. MrEgbegbe:To foolishly think there is no God is living in a fantasy world of tail-like fairies and you're a premature atheist that displays a significant amount of cerebral palsy and deranged cerebrum. Atheists should know that foolishness displayed in virtual e-world is directly proportional to parental upbringing provided joblessness remains constant. |
omoba26:I think the VFS will need your biometric request letter and your passport, i think VFS will make copy of your pasport. Can you give us clue of documents you submitted? |
COPIED! Hi all, I just thought to say this on the floor of the house. So people can learn while drafting their SOPs. I have noticed that people try to paint Nigeria as a lesser country than Canada, by stating that Nigeria has a poor standard of living and education, the country is this and that, bla, bla, bla. Please even though we all know the state of things in Nigeria, it is not wise to state it in your SOP. It is fine to paint Canada as the best place to study and all the good stuff as a reason for your choice, but leave it at that. We all know that Nigeria has issues and the VOs know it. But don't let it come from you. Most times we wonder why some of us are denied because of "Home tie", but it might be more than having assets or a family back in Nigeria, your perception about your country matters a lot. Westerners love PATRIOTISM to the core! If I were a VO, and you tell me bad things about your country in your SOP, I will deny you based on home tie, even though you have assets and family, because as far as I am concerned, why will you want to come back to a country that you think is poor in everything?? My advice is, when stating the reasons for choosing Canada just stop at raining down praises on Canada's economy and standard of education. NEVER say ill about Nigeria.... |
desrie:Always say the truth. Honesty is the first chapter in the book of wisdom. My friend, there is nothing so strong or safe in an emergency of life as the simple truth. I have experienced a visa application that warrants an indefinite ban but because i said the truth, it was intentionally ignored and the visa officer told me categorically that, she did that based on my honesty. That was many years ago though at walter carrington crescent in Lagos. There are some indefeasible stuffs to be honest with in visa application. Goodluck and all the best! |
banks101:Thats not a problem at all. You will see two options there, one is either you write it if you know it or select ''DO NOT KNOW''. They understand that not all applicants can really know their parents date of birth. |

Latmari:See eh, next time, apply alone, let your wife sit back, but try to change your surname base on marriage as soon as possible, thats just an opinion. Looks like the application is complicated to the consular officer and thereby feel you guys are running away or one of you is trying to help the other to run away as per the different surnames and leaving your one and only child behind. However, i could be wrong. |

Soon you will see them screaming afonja. Smh |
escapefromusa:I agree with you. You are 100% correct, however, so whats the solution to those that has done due diligence but the girl or boy still do the same like the girl of this thread's topic? Only God can help us. |
Ashleydolls:Don't mind the poster you quoted . I and my wife have been dating since when she was in primary school. Its almost 9 years now that i brought her over from Nigeria too. Infarct after her visa was approved i got UK visa for her because i want her to visit some of my family members in London, she spent almost a month with them until i told her that ''time is up because almost a month is ok there'', she came over to join me here, we're happily married with brilliant children now. As a matter of fact i went to Nigeria to bring her myself and i was even busy then in Nigeria so i told her to head straight to the UK and she will come and meet me in Ireland after few spedning weeks with my family members in UK, and i did not even step my foot at the airport as i was working and she took the cab home, that was her first time in the country. So i don't think its right to blame that guy just like that. It is not a crime to bring your girlfriend to come and join you in abroad. It is not crime. After all we don't know exactly what has happened between them. Some Nigerian Girls/ladies/women are still good. In another way, some women are very dangerous seriously, but at the same time it could be a blessings to the guy because living with such a lady is deadly. I understand. |

sammyacbxyz:You still don't get it? Irrespective where you personally wish to reside. Your visa refusal record with the US and your intention of reapplying so quick is = ''YOU ARE FANTASTICALLY TOO DESPERATE''. I'm only saying you should take it easy with them, don't rush them since you have good alternative. You will get your visa but try to apply wisdom. Goodluck |
sammyacbxyz: YOU ARE FANTASTICALLY TOO DESPERATE ! Calm down! haba, let the refusal letters rest now! Stop wasting your money for now. Give it gap. My 2cent |
chesterlee:And who tell you se the game is over? Una never see anything. I trust Sahara. You wait and sit back and watch the game. Na so una talk during PMB vs GEJ election sey GEJ don win already. Lol |
