ruky1:Lol! PwC OPQ, smoking out thread ghosts since 2012! ![]() |
Superdont:I think you should create a new username and password on the shl site for your practice, use the one PWC/CEB sent in your mail for the main assessment only. That's what I did anyway. Success.. |
Success mail! Thank God! Guys check your mail! |
SacrodAYAN:It seems to be the same for all then.. I think it's okay, the time allocated is barely enough to write 200words while making sense, if they'd allowed the word count to be limitless, some people will just fill the front and back of the paper rambling and still ask for extra sheet ![]() |
Sambest2:Lol! Carry on with your prepping then. Success |
Gnen:Not more than 200 words for essay, dunno about the others. |
Sambest2:Essay. Yours? |
LaRochelle:One photocopy per document, but just go with two to cover any eventuality. Success.. |
Go early so you can practice abit and get used to the environment. If you're cold intolerant like me, dress to cover. The organizers were very nice and eager to help, so you'll settle in fine, no tension. Go with all the required documents, photocopies and TWO passports, and dont forget to print out your cv, someone did, the person was just graced that it wasnt the person's time yet. For the verbal; all the passages were new and abit more complex than the online test, but its still possible to attempt all. Stay calm while reading through and making your selection, don't rush through, it's better to be sure of some and do "tum bo" for the rest, than to be unsure of them all. For numerical; To me, each question required even more time to solve than for the online test, but it was still the same underlying principles, so practice to improve your speed. For the essay/article/letter; take the first few minutes to gather your thoughts and bring out points on the topic, then expand on your points. Make sure your writing is legible and your punctuation and word usage are tiptop. Dont interchange "their" for "there", "where" for "were", etc. as we commonly see in nairaland comments ![]() Success to everyone. |
ElJay162: datjobhunter:Very unexpected! God bless you for the heads up guys.. |
Success mail.. Thank God! |
oshiokpu:Were you connected to the internet when you tried? If not get connected, you dont need to stay connected once it's opened however, just make sure you dont close down the program cos if you do you will have to connect again to open it again. Success.. |
I just took the numerical. The tables were easy, I'd been expecting very strange stuff because of some people's comments here, but I saw quite a number of questions from the practice materials. The only problem was that most of the solving needed alot more time than recommended, especially for the tables I hadn't come across in the practice materials. A big thank you to everyone for their help. For the few yet to take; practice abit to warm up before you start the main test; quickly look at your connection to make sure its still there before you submit each question, if it isn't reconnect quickly then continue, this will help avoid any problems seeing as this is the last day; dont waste too much time on any question, especially if you're not sure you'll get the right answer, if it takes too long select anything and continue; when your time gets to a minute left quickly start selecting anything for the remaining questions, you just might get some right. |
@the laffing poster, different people have different reasons for sharing tips, I doubt any of them posted for the reason you stated, we're not as dumb as you would like, we all know this is competitive. Most post out of a need to give back to this community and to posterity, seeing as they've learnt from others tips both from this and past threads, I fall among this category. And I don't think what I posted broke any unspoken rules, I just tried to simplify what Shl states. If you have not used others tips to better your chances, then its okay to be cynical, but if you have used others info, please don't be hypocritical, if you won't be the good samaritan, atleast don't ward off potential good samaritans.. Thank you |
Babashegs:using "is created from" does not mean that only the listed source is possible. "is only created from" has that meaning. One can go on to say "x is created from y process; x is also created from z process". Also "Limestone can be created from..." means that creating from said processes is possible, the question then stating "Limestone is created from..." means that creating from said process occurs, which is true as the "can be.." has stated it to be possible. Checkout usage of "is" and "can be" as auxillary verbs, also "is also" "is only" |
Select CANNOT SAY; if the statement is "NOT Explicitly Stated in or Absolutely Inferred from" the passage. Example: using the same passage statement above, the Question states "Limestone can be created from the crystallization of shell, algae or plankton deposits within sediments". Crystallization is different from integration and you might be tempted to select false. However, crystallization is not the opposite of integration, and the passage did not state that only integration of these elements results in limestone. Thus regardless of the fact that the question statement is different from the passage statement, there is nothing in the passage to affirm or contradict this new statement, and for all we know, crystallization of the elements may result in limestone so you must select 'cannot say' |
Select FALSE; if the statement is the "Direct Opposite of what is Explicitly Stated in" the passage. Example: using the same passage statement above, the Question states "Limestone is created from a segregation of algae deposits from sediments". Since segregation is the opposite of integration, it is saying something opposite to what has been explicitly stated in the passge and so the answer is false. |
For the Verbal: Select TRUE; if the statement is 'Explicitly Stated in', or can be 'Absolutely Inferred from' the passage. Note that the statement may use different words to state something in the passage, so long as the new word has the same meaning in the same context as that in the passage, and thus passes the same message as is in the passage, select true. Example: The Passage states that ”Limestone can be created from the integration of shell, algae or plankton deposits within sediments" and the Question states "Limestone is created from a combination of shell deposits and sediments" Since one of the meanings of integration is "combination", and from the passage; integration of shell deposits in sediments, algae deposits in sediment, or plankton deposits in sediment can result in limestone, the answer is true |
