Good Morning Beautiful People, I am posting this from my hotel room in San Francisco, California. Wanted to give back to this forum, in appreciation of the wonderful help I got here in making this trip possible. Immense thanks to all the gurus in the house---LadyGuinivere, OmoBendel24, Justwise etc... My Visa application that was placed on 'Administrative Processing' was finally approved and issued after two weeks. I already posted transcript of my interview at Abuja earlier on this thread (on page 300). I got my passport 3 days after the approval, and quickly got a flight on Travelstart. Turkish Airlines. The two weeks Administrative Processing really affected my travel plans as I didn't know what the eventual outcome would be. We arrived San Francisco on Sunday, 12th Feb (the conference starts Monday, 13th), and there was no issue whatsoever at POE. The lady simply asked for my purpose of visit (IT Conference and IBM Summit), how long I intend to stay (10 days), and how much cash I have ($2,100 and my Credit Cards). That's all. She said that's cool, and stamped me in for 6 months. The first conference is ending on Friday (17th Feb), and IBM Connect Summit starts at the same venue on Monday (20th Feb), to end next Friday (24th Feb). I'll visit a few friends, and then head back to Nigeria in March. For those worried about POE issues, my take is that you just have to be composed and confident. Carry relevant IDs (work ID, Govt issued IDs, etc.), dress well, and answer all questions truthfully. Your entry will be smooth. This is my first time in America, and I must confess it's a beautiful place. God bless you all. |
Wanted to share the transcript after collection, so everything (interview--collection) will be in one post. But now that this is the case, below is my transcript. The interview was at Abuja office, 7:30am appointment. Got there 7am and we were called in at 7:30. Passed through all the accreditation, and security checks and queued up for the interview. Vo: Good Morning Me: Good morning Vo: What do you do? Me: I am an IT Admin Vo: So why are you going to California? Me: I am going for annual XXXX IT Conference. Vo: Okay, what do you intend to learn at the Conference? Me: Since IT is dynamic and grows almost on daily basis, the conference offers a great opportunity to keep abreast of the latest technologies and solutions, to aid in improved efficiency and effectiveness in my job role. Vo: Name one software solution you use in securing your network Me: I named 2 Vo: Have you traveled outside Nigeria before? Me: Yes, I have been to South Korea, Germany & South Africa Vo: Typed on his Computer System... Vo: Do you have your old Passport here? Me: Yes Vo: Can I see it? Me: I gave him the old Passport Vo: flipped through and returned it to me and typed on his System again. Vo: Tell me about your trip to Germany Me: We went for training/seminar on XXXX technology Vo: Continued typing... Do you have children? Me: yes. Vo: How many? Me: 2 Vo: He looked at my finger to see my wedding ring.... How many children do you have again? Me: 2 Vo: Sir, I am approving your visa application. And he handed me over the white paper saying it contains instruction on how to collect my passport. Me: Thank You No document was checked. My Advice: 1. Know what you filled in your D-160 form. 2. Answer only what you are asked, with confidence. 2. Only present documents if asked. Some people tried to push documents through to the VO and he told them not to bother. Most of those guys were denied. It kinda shows desperation. 3.Travel History is important. Mine helped me. 4. Prayer is very important. Shalom. |
@OmoBendel24, Immense thanks for the link. I just checked and it said my application is undergoing necessary Administrative Processing, and it will take several weeks. What does that mean? And any idea of duration of the 'several weeks'? The event I am going for starts in 3 weeks time. Any possibility of the Administrative Processing being completed on or before then? Since I don't stay in Abuja, I'll have to leave Abuja then, and wait for them to contact me. |
@Esosa4real @OmoBendel24, Yes, I was given the white paper, and I've been to DHL office. I was there on Friday and today and they said it's still at the Embassy. I checked online (via automated email response), and it says 'your passport is still with the Post'. Post here means the Embassy? Or DHL? There's no mention of Administrative Processing anywhere. Shalom. |
@Esosa4real, I'm yet to collect mine o. We did interview same day. You were ahead of me on the queue. I listened to your interview. What could be the cause of the delay? Any idea? @LadyG, Please any idea on what could cause delay in release of passport 6 days after interview? And there's no communication from the embassy... |
@Esosa4real, Please have you collected your passport?? |
Good News Fellas ![]() So I applied for a B1/B2 visa to enable me attend a Medical Conference in Bleep state and then see a distant relative in Bleep state in America. I was curious before now and that's why I kept coming on nairaland. The reasons being that I was working in another Country and only in Nigeria for holidays, and kept wondering how to demonstrate home ties. Congrats. I saw you that day. Mine was approved as well. Will share transcript soon.[/quote] |
Thanks @Nnaeb. Would like to learn more on marketing from you. I recently took up marketing as a profession. Could you reach me at 'dpresh@yahoo.ca'? |
henroh:Henroh, chill. You'll definitely get the mail. Except something showed up positive in the medical report... Did you see the content of the medical report? When did you apply for FSW? Timeline, I mean. Thanks. |
