Hello guys, Thank you for your informations as usual. Has anyone (or. Does someone knows anyone that) Registered directly from Nigeria with the Nursing and midwifery board of Australia. I just wanted to know what the timeline is like and if registration with them is doable as a Nigerian trained nurse with Nigerian degree.
Ps- I found out if my wife registered with AHPRA (Australian health practitioners Regulation Agency) then she can apply to ANMAC (Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation council) for modified skills assessment for permanent migration.
Modified: I ask the question because my wife is not a suitable applicant due to education equivalent as stated in the attached screen shots.

bellong: DrDele,
I want to believe that inability to submit all required documents from authorities concerned is the biggest block that can hinder registration.
Get all the required documents on time and meet the English requirement also. It will be fine.
You can consider writing your medical exam by the sides.
Goodluck Thank you Bellong. I am working on it. |

Hi guys. Thank you for your input in the previous part of the thread. I changed my mind regarding applying for the MPH program after seeing the fees ( I am at an all time low right now, one state govt haven't paid me a dime since I started my residency in January and d other federal hospital keep delaying my offer. This 9ja system can make someone go crazy o. How do we even survive in this country?? Where is the reward for all the hard work and dedication?) Okay, enough of the rant!!!. I've been reading about the process for a PR for nurses (my wife is a nurse). The steps are: Access your ability to meet the registration requirements Access your ability to meet the immigration requirements Fill in application form and provide all documentation to AHPRA *NMBA will access whether you meet the requirement for registration Receive registration Apply for immigration to Australia Obtain employment Emigrate to Australia Begin work. My concern is what can delay someeone's registration with NMBA and I though someone would need to obtain employment before applying for immigration. Can someone kindly explain please (it is hard concentrating and understanding when you haven't been paid in a while. No be my fault abeg.) I read earlier that PTE is more preferable that IELTS. I am registering my wife for PTE and already barred her from communicating in another language (she must ace it oo, no money to throw away.lol ) |

NNBB2012: My candid advise to you will be, that your wife should start the processing of her PR as primary applicant rather than coming here to study provided she will meet the points. You can check the PR process for Nurses in the previous posts. It is really expensive coming here to study when you are sure you can apply for PR. I had stopped someone from doing that in the past, and of course, he is ever grateful that I did that.
I would not advise you to resign your job and to come here to do jobs that you might not like. It is impossible to work here as a medical practictioner without having required qualifications. You have to pass AMC exam etc. Why not prepare for the exam while your wife is applying for the PR instead of going through the study that will not add to you, if you have mind of obtaining PR.
I know of a Dr who came to write the exam almost immediately after his study in Nigeria. He made it at first sitting and fortunately, he was able to secure a job and that led to his PR. On the other hand, another DR came here about 4yrs ago struggling to pass the exam without any success. In order to stay, he kept on hopping from one Msc degree to the other. He had to do just anything to survive. The goodnews is that, he made it eventually after years of struggling. I will strongly recommend that your wife should process the PR while you hold on to your job and at the same time try the exam rather than coming to study. I do appreciate this input. I thought about the same thing. The money and the qualifying exams. i think my wife applying for PR will be a better way. she has worked for 3=4 years as a Nurse in Teaching hospital. How do i go about it? I am sorry for asking questions on things i can find out myself. I will create more time to read up on the the pages Thank you. |

malmo: I will suggest that you look for school in regional area and let your wife start the PR processing, I think it gets faster with nursing than doctors. missakomaye: You try wella for ur explanation ooo. Kudos....
@DrDele, There is the option of searching for admission yourself without the help of Pfl or any agent, depending on the school ofcourse. (Some schools now insist on using agents once u are applying frm Nig) Thank you guys. |

dexterinc2003: Seems your case looks familiar,it all depends on your plans, how early do you want to move as masters program in aus resumes twice a year (march/july),which school you want, what is your financial status, the rest should be a piece of cake. Let me just list the steps, since im assuming you are a busy person. 1.register with an agent that can help you with admission (pfl, bcie etc),many ppl dont like the fact that they have to pay,but i think its worth it.a school under svp MUST be chosen. 2.once you get the admission, pay part of ur tuition fees to get a CoE. 3.once your CoE is out,do your medicals ,notarise your documents, get immunised ,pay for your health cover (for you and your wife)and go apply for the visa...573svp. 4 wait till visa is granted....book tickets and travel with your wife, depending on what you filled on your visa forms. 5.dont forget to use IOM for your travel ticket booking. 6.share your story on this forum
KEY CoE =confirmation of enrollment Svp =streamlined visa processing IOM =International organisation for migration PFL =preparation for life BCIE =check google....lol Thank you for the information. I do appreciate it. To save cost, I will convince my wife to apply for PR. She has been working for the past 3-4 years. Once again, i do appreciate your input. |

Hello Forumites, i just recently joined. I am interested in Masters in Public health in Australia.
I am a Dr here in Nigeria and My wife holds a nursing Degree.
I recently Started my Residency training (pediatrics). But the strike and unpredictable things here is discouraging. '
I really need Advise from Members here. I am thinking of immigrating to Australia. I want to apply for a Masters in Public health for me to be able to immigrate. the target is practicing in Australia. But since i haven't written qualifying exams yet, i am thinking the quickest (or easiest) way to go is by a masters degree
what should i do? take up a masters in Public health? or go for something similar
mrnilobrawn, bossladyMo et al, please advise |
