No, sir. Abroad, there are advanced nurse practitioners who can diagnose and treat medical ailments but are not called medical doctors

A lot use the title 'Dr' which is fine, but the public should know the difference between doctors by title and medical doctor

It is not about the OP, it is about educating the public to prevent cases of impersonation and quackery. This was just an opportunity to emphasise it

One even expressed serious annoyance towards Ph.D holders and professors who are also addressed by the term "Dr".


Doctors abroad are less concerned about such trivial things... Those ones are okay to even be addressed solely as "Physicians".

I practise abroad and I can tell you, for sure, no one condones calling for example, a nurse practitioner or physican assistant a 'medical doctor ' here

The term 'medical doctor' is used only for MBBS, MBBCH or MD holders.

However, Podiatrists are not medical Doctors, only MBBS/MBBCH, MD and BDS are qualified medical Doctors. Those with DPM can diagnose and treat medical cases of the feet and Ankles but do not qualify as medical Doctors

Thank you for this clarification, a lot of people just throw up the term 'medical doctor' recklessly
