Education / Research Collaboration Opportunity For Grad Students by dremmy: 3:22am On Mar 07, 2021
Hi guys,
I am a Nigerian pursuing a doctorate degree in the US and I am looking for a graduate student collaborator in statistics and/or mathematics with basic knowledge of data analysis in at least a statistical package.
Student should be a graduate student (masters level) in statistics, mathematics, computer science or data science. Enterprising people with bachelor's degree may also inquire about this opportunity but I would prefer a masters student. The aim of this collaboration is to work on projects that would lead to research publications in international journals of public health, epidemiology or biostatistics. Experience in Excel and atleast one statistical software is required. There's no funding for this project (this is entirely my personal project), however I can provide a stipend of up to 10-20k monthly depending on experience. You also have the opportunity to be a 2nd or 3rd author of research manuscripts. And a letter of recommendation for future graduate training in the US (if that is your plan) from me and/or my colleague/major professor. The time commitment is 10hrs weekly. Send a short resume (basically educational qualification, and skills/experience; no need to put your name) to my email danielstan1000@gmail.com and I will reach out to you for an interview via Skype, Zoom or Microsoft teams.

Best!

1. Does having a scholarship offer give a student an advantage in Visa Interviews?
2. Is there anyone that know a great deal about EducationUSA. I heard being a member helps.
3. I learnt from the page that SEVIS can be paid at Seme. Please i'll be glad to know which Bank.
Thanks
Travel / Re: Main Reasons Many Are Refused Visas by dremmy: 12:50am On Sep 26, 2014
I need help.
I want to study MPH in US but my sponsor (uncle) is in the US. I don't know if it's wise for me to present his account statement and tax clearance as he is in status.
Secondly, for fear of the "strong ties" to Nigeria issue, I'm extremely worried that using him may be a bad option cos I might be denied Visa.
Thirdly, I have another uncle with a good bank statement in Nigeria but then I've been reading from the thread that one's extended family member must explain why they wish to sponsor them.
Then, the last case I thought of was funding my account or that of my mother via these people, but then cash lodgement may be noticed. And I'm applying to study this Jan 2015.
Please I need advice on what to do. Please.

And the reason for working yourself towards Stroke is ...?

I responded to Gloria Iheanacho's article where she stated, "Theres[sic] no place in the US in which the other health workers heads. They are usually headed by doctors".

Reading your post again, I can see that you are a very confused human being. Are you responding to my piece you quoted or to the
same Gloria Iheanacho that mentioned her mother as a lab scientist?

I hope someone with comprehension problem like you is not among those clamoring to be treated as demi-gods.

\

My point is: Naija's health system is modelled after the British. I was responding to 1. Lanrefront whose Lab scientist mum who had worked for 30 years tells him how pungent doctors were. and 2.Invertedhammer who quotes his almighty US without even knowing that both health structure and medical education in US is clearly set apart from the rest of the British commonwealth.

And yes, i might have not quoted lanrefronts comments to join to your own crap and i guess thats what makes me a stroke patient and a psychiatric person too.
However, if it's the demi god status of doctors that is giving you sleepless nights, if its what is giving you a huge colic, then I suggest you my friend to go jump off the cliff!!

You have no iota of idea of what you are talking about. Government hospitals like Veterans Medical Centers (the biggest Federal funded hospital chain in USA) are not headed by medical doctors. Some doctors are in what will best be described as Board of Directors. But the overall head is usually someone trained in Business or Healthcare administration. The overall head known as the Secretary of VA Mr. Shinseki thst just resigned has M.A in English while Mr. Sloans who is the acting Secretary now has M.A in Economics. It is pertinent to note that each facility has a director and I am yet to know any facility that has a medical doctor as the overall head. You can Google their website at www.VA.gov to educate yourself. Hospitals in US are run as corporations that they are and not as "ego massage parlours".

Before you sell your garbage, Nigerian hospitals have Director of Administration (DA) that oversee the administrative Sides of the hospitals and the Board of directors appointed by either the state or federal government. This board is the highest decision making body in the hospital. Now can you leave the US abit? Can we focus on how the British NhS hospital Is run? because the last time I checked our health care and even all university degrees were modelled after our colonial masters! Can you please stop the US crap?

I would take Yeovil hospital NHS as an example. It's headed by a CEO Dr Lucy more. Who is a specialist. The hospital also have board of directors that are 14 in number. Don't bring out yourself with your cheap reasons. We know America is a place where everything goes because of their complicated health system.

Do you want me to educate you on the health system of western Europe? Of course they are modelled like that of the UK! India and China the medical directors are medical doctors too while the managerial components are health with by managers who may or may not be doctors.
So your argument holds no water!
Also, if your Johesu says doctors and paramedics should earn the same salaries, is that how it's done in your almighty US? For your info the head of the labs in hospitals in UK and US are pathologists(specialist doctors) and they earn over a median of $250k while the lab scientist like your mum in US don't even hit 6 figures! It is the same story in UK and the discrepancy is even worse in UAE and Qatar! RELATIVITY is the rule but only JOE HATES YOU doesn't see that!

I think all they can do is sell cheap lies. The administrative aspect of the hospital has already been taken care of by the office of the
director of administration (DA). I believe every hospital also have the board of Directors instituted which is the highest decision
making body instituted by the state or federal Government. The office of the CMD however is to give the medical leadership the
hospital needs and that is the exclusive right of a medical doctor.
the constitution says "medically qualified and with postgraduate qualification". This phrase only mean that Doctors and to a lesser
extent nurses are those that are medically qualified because being medically qualified means you are more or less can practice
medicine. The lab scientist are therefore not medically qualified because their license does not entitle them to practice medicine,
same too are the pharmacists and physiotherapist and radiographers.
Being medically qualified also entails being an all rounder in all facets of medicine which is something the MBBS degree confers on
the doctor. The lab scientist is restricted to Lab medicine. What does he know about physiotherapy, clinical medicine or even
pharmacy? Same thing too with the pharmacist or physiotherapist.
Nigeria is only where things can go wrong.

Johesu are quick to talk about consultancy for her members (that's another talk on it's own) because US and UK do them but also
fail to know that relativity which they kick against is also what is obtainable in US and UK. A pathologist take home an upwards of
$300k while a lab scientist take home $120k. That is relativity! And it's worse in countries like Qatar and UAE where doctors can
literally earn 5 Times what other paramedics earn!

Johesu must stop deceiving themselves. Every information is on google but as usual because Nigerians rarely research, they would
believe everything thrown at them hook, line and sinker. If they want us to go by their so called "international standards". Then I bet
you that a house officer must earn twice what a lab scientist earn and the consultant must earn thrice what the highest paramedic
earn. Abii didn't Albert Einstein win a Nobel prize for his ground breaking theory on Relativity?
Bunch of mediocres

Hii guys,
How easy is it getting into German postgraduate med training. I'm currently applying for molecular medicine msc at Ulm , Jenna and Hannover in order to test the waters.
Secondly, must your sponsor be in Germany? What if one's visa is denied after depositing the 8k euros into the blocked account, would one get a refund? Besides, why is it called a blocked account? Does it mean it can't be used even in Germany?
Frohe Weinachsten!

Health / Re: Doctor Emigrating To America Via The USMLE Route by dremmy: 2:41pm On Sep 26, 2013
Your best bet would be to emigrate to the US via the public health route (MPH). In the process of doing the 2 years MPH, you would sit and go for USMLE lessons and take the exams. A friend of mine did his MPH at John Hopkins (dont mind the name, easy to enter if you have the cash to pay school fees) and the recommendations of professors in preventive medicine got him good jobs which he retained till he entered residency.
The only thing you have to bear in mind is that program directors value the USMLE scores (esp Step 1) when considering IMGs.

Pls where can I buy firstaid for usmle 2013, board review series and other prescribed materials for USMLE here in Nigeria? Or do I have to order copies from outside the country?

I bought mine in india in 2011. They were quite cheaper...buying online would also be cool but buying in Nigeria here is so expensive.

Its nice if you are considering coming home..but you have to weigh your options. Most MPH graduates here in Naija are idle, i believe your state ministry of health would be able to absorb you in a worse case senario. Good luck

Which step is it appropriate to write first? Step 1 or step 2. I've read so many threads and its even more confusing.
Any advise will help

Yea. Its difficult to prepare for this exams alone. Study groups are always better.
