my dear aspirant lurve i solved this question in 30 seconds using the same method, ifu are used to advanced mathematics this is a piece of cake , anyway i did this for explanatory reasons, any reasonable student like u would just test the option,

Mr Calculus: Frm my calculatns
gud=9,bad=5 nd fair=7
total no of fishes both gud,bad nd fair=9+7+5=21
no of pair gud fishes in 53=9x21/53=3.566 app=4
no of pair fair fishes in 53=7x21/53=2.77 app=3
no of pair bad fishes in 53=5x21/53=1.98 app=2
-:gud=4,fair=3 nd bad=2

i have seen may guessive soltions to this question, though my solution may be lenghty but its worth it .......
Let
good= x
fair = y, and
bad = z
then, since there are seven days in a week, and the hunter made 53 catches, two 3 variable simultaneous equations can be deduced which are
x+y+z = 7
9x+ 7y + 5z= 53
from these two equations we can arrive at two logical sets and inequalities which are
( x, y, z) = N
( 1<N<5) provided that no element of N ( x,y.z) equals 0

to createe to varible simultaneous equations we replace X for (7 -y-z) in the second equations which will give us
y+2Z = 5, also we can deduce locical sets an dinequalities which now give us the following
(y,z) = A
(1<A<2) provided that no element of A is 0
also by subtitution we have
x-z = 2, this will produce another set inequality which is
( x,z) = B
(1<B<3) prov. That B is not 0
lastly, by subtitution
2x+y= 9; then
(x,y) = C
(1<C<4) prov. That c is not 0

having our three inequalities A, B and C to find the solution we have to find the integers contained in
( A n B n C ) = N = ( x,y,z)
((1<A<2) n ( 1=B<3) n (1<C<4) ) = ( 4, 1, 2) = ( x, y, z)

oladoya: i think u are right i didnt take the speed distance into consideration but your equation is nebulous or leme say cryptical why dont we have it as...

the time be y
and the distance should be d
d=xy...(1)
d/(5x/6)= y+40
sub. D =xy in equ.2
xy/(5x/6)=y+40
den we have
xy/1*6/5x=y+40
6xy/5x=y+40
x cancel x
6y=5y+200
y=200min
in hours we have 200/60 =3hrs 20min.. Thanks for the observation

once again i think ir equation is the most nebulous and cryptical , my solution was in a lay mans format......

Two cars A and B start from rest at the same time and place , the car A accelerates at 1ms-2 for 10 seconds , while the car B accelerates at 0.4 ms-2 for 30 seconds, find,
(1) the time in which the car B will overtake the car A
(2) the distance at which the overtaking occurs

i think u are wrong now let the rate be x and the normal time be t then we should know that the distance travelled is constant , so therefore let the distance be s , then we have thge following equations
t*x = s
5/6x ( t+ 40) = s

by dividind equation 1 by 2 we have

5/6x(t+ 40) = tx ( divide through by x) we now have

5/6t+ 200/6 = t

t/6 = 200

then t = 200/6 minutes which is equivalent to 3 hours 20 minutes[/quote]
