From your post, I assume you are a potential MSc by Research or PhD candidate.

The current financial situation in Universities these days is quite unfortunate, but I believe you can secure one. From the email, your potential supervisor has no grant of his own that can cover your tuition and stipend (supervisors do sometimes have, but not usual in Australia, unlike the US or Canada). Scholarships usually go through the university, faculty, college or projects (which is when a supervisor can offer scholarship). He was trying to explain that.

What I will suggest is combing through the university scholarship page, check their requirements to see how you stand, discuss with your potential supervisor that you'd like to apply to x, y and/or z scholarship(s), if he's willing to take you (at least, that's how it works in the Australian big-wig universities like Sydney, Queensland, Melbourne, UNSW, etc). Once you have that assurance, you can apply for the admission and all scholarships applicable to you.

Also, it'd be best to let's know the name of the institution you are trying to get into, and it'd also do you good to look more into other universities.

This potential supervisor is from federation University at australia, another also said same at Melbourne university. Btw its a PhD and i am still writing to some other supervisors.

well, whether you pay for first year or not, there are a lot of scholarships up for grabs within the university system. Tuition is calculated on a yearly basis for most cases. Best of luck in your endeavours

Please i just need your opinion, i got a response from a supervisor but no funding, he was asking if i can self sponsor, i replied by asking if its possible to get sponsorship or external sponsorship or even in my second year, and he respond this... please my bosses i need your counsel regarding this.

I actually got a two years research masters degree and that figure is just one year of tuition. There are always scholarships for Doctorate degrees. How come you were asked to pay tuition

Thank you for this , regarding the question i was only exploring incase i didnt get a funding i would look into paying for the first year, then after i get there i should get a funding. One of the supervisor i saw at unuversity of otago added that funding and scholarship are competitive, however he shared link to where i can get scholarship from the school page. Some of those scholarship are for 2nd year PhD.

TLDR: my plan is if i can get it and pay for first year then i can try secure funding for second year. Might not be the very best option.

Which made me to ask if the tuition stated was for the whole 4 years as the tuition is thesame for domestic applicant in phd cases

If i am correct, is it for the 4years or its yearly. So if its yearly we are talking about 9400 NZD right, so i am expected to pay it for the first year right

Good day all hopefuls. After two PhD denied application, I switched to MSc and I was just given the offer. But I'm afraid I had to defer since their tuition was crazy, no scholarship and I had to pay and get my visa by 21 July since semester two starts here. I am hopeful

- Research on their field(s) of interest.
- Contact the supervisor.
- Present the supervisor with your proposed PhD thesis or if you prefer to work on their subject area.
- If they agree to supervise you then...
- Contact the school to get their agents in Nigeria, if they have any, for the school application.
- Contact the agent and they will take it off from there.

Secondly is it compulsory to use an agent for phd after the supervisor has accepted.

Normal way, get the email although I use golamike service for the email scraping, thanks to him too then I did some manual searching as well for email. Finally used gmass to send multiple emails at a time and was able to track who open and click the link

I scheduled the email to be sent by 3pm Nigerian time and each at every 5mins interval

Well to correct you, in my case i am not still in class i have been thought the process and understood the gimmick. In these case oga iyk is most likely busy and understood, if you want a screenshot of our chat so you can understand its just clarity we ask for, but if for a reason i have come to you as a brother to enlighten me about a matter which i need more clarification to and you are trying to prove that asking for clarity and understanding makes me incompetent, then i must say you definitely dont show yourself as a leader nor someone we can learn from !!
